Hey! Big fan, I am rereading a bunch of your fic now and I just adore it.

I had a question -- you mentioned on a tumblr post that people had done a fanbinding of Pine Sweat, but I was wondering if anyone had sent you a copy? If not, I'd love to! I really adore your fic and would love to send you something as thanks. If you've already got a copy of Pine Sweat, I could happily bind you another fic. @littlebeastbindery/@degenderates also sent me a copy of a bound fic, my preseries fic series 'fucked up family shit.' it's beautiful!! the front and end papers are real maps of, I believe, north or south dakota. gorgeous.

so all that to say. there's no greater honour, and if you want to bind any fic of mine and send it to me, it WILL be brought out and showcased every time I get drunk with friends, alongside me saying "I know fic is lame but if you're gonna do something you might as well be good at it!!!!"

we met through a friend. and my husband is the one who introduced me to spn! he'd watched it for years and he knew I'd like it. and he very much knows about wincest and my fic. the incest is a non-issue. we joke about it because haha, brotherfucking, but that's about it. all our friends know also. I get ragged on often

(I also want to congratulate you on it! It's no small feat to write 100k words, and you did an incredible job building each one you chose into a very compelling story. Easily one of the best fics I've read in my time online. (last year another amateur bookbinder bound a copy of pine sweat also, which isn't to discourage you in any way because it doesn't matter, but it would feel weird if I didn't mention it)

thank you also on the congratulations. I've never published such a long fic and it was immensely rewarding, especially publishing it as a weekly serial.

I've self-published physical and digital original novels in the past (they were bad, I was young, no you can't read them, no they're not still available for sale you had to follow me 2011-2017, real ones know, but damn look at this formal-ass goodreads page!!!)

but, I AM working on a novel right now, a good one, with the goal of getting it published for real. it's in the very early stages. it's a near-future sci fi novel about a washed up middle-aged wrestler named Goshen, on a colony planet, in the micro-timeline "guy has the worst day of his life" genre à la after hours, good time, etc. thank you for asking and for your enthusiasm.

I TAKE prompts for anything in that I will listen to them, but I can't PROMISE I will do anything with it. that would have to be a commission, and while I have taken fic commissions in the past, it seems vaguely dicey legally and, more importantly, morally dicey cause I don't need the money (my husband is always telling me to monetize my fan works and create a patreon or something but a) i'm pretty sure that's illegal and 2) absolutely not in the spirit of transformative works, fandom, etc)

but: please tell me your prompt! I like ideas! it's possible I'll use it! my longest fic to date came about because of an anon ask.

Because AO3 is that site. Because AO3 was that site long before you decided AO3 was better than the sites you bullied us off of before, and I can promise you if someone somehow comes up with a fanfic site you like better specifically for the 'gross stuff' you'll try to bully us off that too so you can benefit from it.

AO3's specific core purpose is to preserve fanfiction, yes, but it was also instigated as a host site for the fanfiction that kept getting yeeted off other platforms like Wattpad. Its designed to preserve all fanfiction, not just the fanfiction you, personally, think is 'allowed' to be written.

AO3 is the site for all the gross stuff the freaks make. We've been there just as long as you. We've been funding it just as long as you have. AO3 has specifically said you have a place here. The timeline was literally:

Wattpad/FF.net/LiveJournal purge fanfics > AO3 is born > The people who's fics got purged moved over to AO3 > AO3 gains popularity as the best functioning site > The people who pushed for the fics to be purged off Wattpad move to AO3 > The same people try to push for AO3 to purge fics.

AO3's source coding is open-access. You go make a polished, strict, rigid site where nothing 'icky' is allowed. You go make a site where you can control what is hosted. We already have our space.

I didn't realize until yesterday that there are VERY few fics about them on AO3 (like, 50) and I was hung over as shit yesterday and I went through the entire list. didn't read every one (not always my bag) but I read all the ones I'd wanna read. which is exciting cause now if I write more when s3 is out I'l feel like a scholar. INFORMED

Hii, I loved your new carmrich fic! I love them together and I really don't understand how there aren't many fic abou this ship. Have you ever considered writing something about their dinamic in season two? I feel like season two richie is softer and nicer. I would love read something with both of them getting the love and care that they deserve

yes! it's interesting to see a fandom that is so predominantly reader fic and het, not m/m. not my thing per se but it's honestly kind of cool lol

I don't have any ideas for s2 right now but I'm open if I think of something. Richie's character arc is very cool, him looking more directly at his failures and loneliness and working to change. I'm mostly excited to see what they do with that new outlook in s3. I like that him and carmy got along better in s2 but I don't think there's a ton there to sink your teeth into because his and carmy's arcs had some distance

but! with that being said! this is absolutely not about you but I hear this often and I wanna speak to it: I think there are so many ways to show love and care, and in the fic I just did (I know, death of the author, etc) I did very much mean for that to show love and care. I think that for two people so messed up and beaten down, waking up together and watching TV and roughhousing is care, for them, in context. they're falling for each other, learning to see each other differently. even with the shouting and fighting and greasiness, it's the best they know how. I think love and care can be shown and felt without verbal affirmations, a public relationship, etc. it's delicate stuff

long answer: I'm not (re)watching house at the moment, and I'm trying not to write fic for stuff I'm not actively watching. I've done that a few times recently, and it feels like a joyless chore and the fic comes out bad. so I'm trying not to, I just get squirrelly when I'm not working on something. BUT, my husband's never seen house, so we will for sure continue watching in the future, and then i might write more.

for the bear, this last fic came up cause I was rewatching, which I am now done. BUT s3 comes out in June I think and it wouldn't surprise me if I write more then. I'm having a bad sad grieving year and writing for the bear feels very cathartic

hello! that's very nice to hear thank you. I can share a couple things

the first kernel of an idea for a fic usually comes from a line of dialogue I imagine a character saying. or sometimes it's just a specific scene or concept, and then I think, ok what else would need to be true for me to get them into that situation

I write on my phone, and as I'm building out a story I take point form notes for dialogue kind of like a script, and I'll build scenes out that way before writing out actual paragraphs. I usually don't have an actual example of this to show when I talk about it because I delete it as I write, but due to a versioning slip I have some. so it looks like this:

and then from there I organize them into chronological order and fill in the gaps and start actually writing. because it's all been scripted out already, which I do non-chronologically, I generally write it out chronologically these days. then I finish it, swap into a different font + light mode to edit. etc

hope that is what you were looking for! I always think it's neat to learn how people write
