I was in this exact position years ago. What helped for me was finding people I was comfortable opening up to. Not a whole lot, I think like. Two tops. After a while it got to the point where I broke down in tears for like two hours straight one day, and since then I’ve been able to regularly cry. It wasn’t a quick solution, nor was it an easy one, but it worked, at least for me

a bit of a more serious subject,

in real life I'm an optimist and I always like to see on the bright side of situations, even if things are really bad. because of this I find it extremely difficult for me to cry.

every time I feel emotional and I feel like I might have an opportunity to cry, I always talk myself out of it. I know things will get better, so I stop myself from feeling those emotions.

I would give anything to be able to cry sometimes, crying is an amazing and healthy outlet for overwhelming emotions. sadly though, I haven't been able to cry in a very long time, and it's been seriously affecting my mental health.

I wanted to ask, does anybody have any advice for ways I could convince my brain to let me cry and feel these emotions?

Actual hot take that I never see anyone talk about, the Washington Monument elevator is the single greatest moment in the entire Fallout series

Just. You get into an empty, quiet ass elevator with absolutely no stimuli. It’s running perfectly smooth, no disturbances, from the camera angle the game defaults you to it looks completely intact. And then, as a result of how long the ride is, you’re eventually gonna start looking around. Only to notice the gaping hole in the back

This is huge. You’ve seen how destroyed the Washington Monument was before, but only from a distance. This is the first and only time you get to see exactly how torn and destroyed this literal pillar of American history is up close. And it’s really close, that elevator gives you an insanely good view. Your mileage may vary based on how long you spent really thinking about that hole, but for me, that’s when it really hit me what Fallout 3 really has over New Vegas. And New Vegas is my favourite game in the series, but the spectacle and visual storytelling in 3 is some of the best in video games as a whole

Sometimes I just lay here and cry because the world is so beautiful and I’ll never get to experience all of it. And it’s like. An ever-changing beauty. One made of small things you find just kinda funny. There’s a tree at my local cemetery that got split almost completely in half from a lightning strike, so they added a sign on it that warns people to stay away from tall trees during thunderstorms. Shit like that is fun. I like that about the world. A lot of people seem convinced that humans are the problem with the world, and in a certain way, maybe we are. But just by being here, each and every one of us adds so, so much to the world. Each and every one of us make it so much more magical. The fact that it’s 3am as I write this may make this whole thing a bit more of a mess, but hopefully my point comes across that this planet is an alright place to live
