Thanks @arkitortured!
1. I think my favorite brief is from my first year. It was an exhibition hall that I later had to adapt to be an extension of the adjacent museum.
2. Fourth year, I feel old lol
3. Last year's project. It was a museum in Iceland. I studied and researched more than I drew, but the result was quite good.
4. Autocad and photoshop. Procreate on my ipad pro for sketches and diagrams. And sketch up and revit for 3D design
5. Traditional, I believe that now we can do many things that we couldn't before. However, the creative process works best in the traditional way.
6. 2D is usually always a requirement and you can also take measurements. Although, I enjoy doing 3D sketches the most.
7. A dell XPS laptop and an ipad pro.
8. Photoshop
9. Study a master in urban planning but I'm not sure
10. Do an Erasmus in Florence next year
I tag @arch-lu @studarch @archystudy @architecture-apprentice @archivistbutch

I thought it would be very interesting to see what other architect students are going through around the world! Please tag your archi friends!
What is your favourite brief to date?
What year of study are you in?
What design are you most proud of?
What is your software of choice?
Do you prefer traditional or digital?
2D or 3D design?
What is your PC set-up?
Do you prefer GPU rendering or working within a program like Photoshop?
What are your plans once you have finished study?
What are you looking forward to the most?

One of the latest analysis I did for the project of this semester. We were asked to propose an urban improvent in the neighborhood, but it seems that I’m stuck at analyzing. Anyway, I will post something decent if I have any new ideas. I hate it the more I look at it, not looking for sympathy, I’m just very self-demanding.

If you guys have ADD/ADHD, autism, OCD, or something else that affects your ability to concentrate, I highly recommend the chrome extension Mercury Reader. You just open whatever link you're using, then click on the MR icon (it should look like a rocket) and it'll simplify the page so that it's in a focus-friendly layout. Instead of having random pictures and word boxes all over the screen, it'll be in a vertical format with nothing to distract you so you can focus on what's important. You can also adjust the text size (small, medium, large), font (serif, sans), and theme (light, dark). And the best part is, it's completely free! It's honestly one of the best things I've ever downloaded.
Tumblr media
This is an article without the extension. See that messy format, and how the actual article content only takes up a fraction of the page? It's no wonder it took me 7 hours to write that paper.
Tumblr media
The same article, this time with Mercury. The user-friendly settings are at the top, and the rest of the article is formatted vertically down the middle with no free-roaming pictures or words. How nice.

In my first semester our professors told us to design a museum in Iceland, in the Myavtn region. It was quite difficult as we had no opportunity to go there haha.
In order to create this project I picked elements from traditional icelandic architecture (see turf houses) and modern local approaches such as the use of raw concrete and then I used them to design a museum that could embrace tradition but still incorporate a different way of doing things.

Anyway, be strong and in good health everyone

Granada 🍊
Some pics from my trip to Granada back in February. We traveled there in order to study and investigate the site of our proyect.
We got to visit the Alhambra and the Carmen of Rodriguez-Acosta, cause that’s where we had to plan our design. Overall It was great but I wish we had stayed longer or at least had the oportunity to visit it again.

I like this style of drawing in black and white, but I think it looks really good in color.
Beside a photo of my first isometric illustration in illustrator that is in progress.
And a CD with a failed attempt at drawing haha, but I really liked the effect of the photo.
Que o mês de August seja incrível 🤍

okay, so here in california precautionary measures against COVID-19 have become increasingly intense. most schools have closed and are preparing to make the transition to “distance learning” aka online classes. this is a big change for many of us – but don’t panic!
welcome to surviving online classes 101!
✐ self discipline
this is more of a warning than a tip. working from home means you will have to exercise a lot more self discipline. it can be a little bit boring or lonely at times. you cannot count on motivation from others (professors, classmates, friends, etc.), so you will have to learn some self discipline.
✐ create your own classroom
a good way to make the transition is to try and mimic the classroom setting as closely as possible. something that might be helpful is to set up a space designated for work. try to avoid the temptation to work in your bed or on the couch. that trains your brain to be alert in those places and makes it harder to relax/fall asleep. at least during online lectures, try and eliminate distractions that wouldn’t be present in a regular classroom (like tv or netflix playing in the background, or having your phone out)
✐ dress for success!
dress in the way that makes you feel most productive. if you’re one of those people who usually rolls into class wearing sweats and still kills it, good for you! if you’re one of those people who needs to put on a full face of makeup to feel alive and ready for the day, do that! even at home!! i personally never wear makeup but if i try to be productive in pjs… disaster. i’ve also found that cute workout gear makes me feel badass while still being comfy.
✐ create a schedule
now more than ever you need to figure out how to manage your time. you can use a planner, bujo, google calendar, the forest app, whatever. just make sure you keep track of things like
due dates and TIMES
exam dates
lecture times
hours spent studying
meals (pls eat 3 if possible)
water intake
sleep schedule
✐ pack your bag like you usually would
i know this probably sounds so dumb, but when you’re done working clean up after yourself. pack everything up like you would at school, to sort of signal to your brain that academic time is over for now. and then unpack and set up when you’re ready to get to work again. this is just another way to trick your brain into that school mindset while you’re stuck at home.
✐ don’t overwork yourself
break up your studying into chunks. being cooped up all day can make us feel like we’re wasting time, but be sure to schedule breaks and reward yourself after a solid study session. i’m a big fan of the pomodoro method, and it can be customized really easily to allow for more or less study/rest time.
✐ maintain a healthy sleep schedule
now is the time to develop that healthy sleep schedule we all dream about. staring at a computer all day is exhausting and hard on the eyes and brain, so make sure to give them enough rest and time to recover each night. also, consider investing in glasses that block blue light, even if you don’t usually use glasses. this will keep our eyes young lol.
✐ communicate with your teachers and classmates
most of us are making this transition to online learning together. any time you have questions, email your professor. reach out to your classmates at the beginning and exchange emails/phone numbers/social media so you can build a support system. if something goes wrong, screenshot it immediately and reach out to your professor. technology isn’t perfect, and mistakes can happen, just communicate them.
✐ turn things in early
this is my biggest tip. when you are relying on online submissions for assignments and digital lectures, you always want to allow extra time to fix any errors you might encounter. your professor will also be much more willing to help you fix a problem two days before a deadline rather than two minutes before a deadline. eliminate that uncertainty by playing it safe with online submissions.
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!! YOU GOT THIS!! WE GOT THIS!!

New Year’s resolution ideas for students
• Finish all your schoolwork by 11 pm each day • Limit yourself to one cup of coffee a day • Get at least a B in all of your classes (or set goals for individual classes) • Stretch for 10 minutes before bed • Read a book each month for leisure • Get at least 7 hours of sleep every night • Spend less than two hours on social media a day (or some other time limit, depending on where you are now!) • Journal every day • Leave for class 5 minutes earlier than you need to • Listen to podcasts or watch documentaries instead of binging Netflix or watching YouTube • Get at least 1 hour of exercise a week • Only spend money on things you really need (not just things you want) • Finish papers at least a day in advance • Spend 30 minutes a day on self care
What are some of your resolutions (if you have any)? x
