The gaze she gave him was a mix of worry and disbelief. It was obvious although she didn't think it was possible. He seemed like a very nice and easy-going guy at first. But the more dates they had gone on, the more obvious it became that he had a sort of...possessive streak. She remembered him questioning Deku why he had approached her desk after class when all he wanted was to ask if she had time to spar with him - which he denied her because he needed help with homework.

"You're having...that look again. You've been acting it - I noticed how you try to keep Deku away from me, even when he just wants to ask me something." Ochako turned her gaze away from him, feeling slightly uncomfortable in his presence. "You've...become worse the longer we stay together," she admitted in a low voice. "You're acting like everyone wants to take me away from you but it's not like that. They're my friends!" Her voice held a slight edge to it before she felt brave enough to look at him again. "And they are yours as well. They don't want to break us apart!"

the blond deflates instantly.  hands tugging at his shirt and teeth chewing at his lip until it was near bloody.  he hadn’t meant to upset her.  he hadn’t meant for any of this.  anxiety curls around him like a thorned vine, tearing and biting harshly at his flesh.  between his own spiraling thoughts and the way that she was looking at him, he wanted nothing more than to run.  this wasn’t what he’d wanted.  why would she stay with him if she could have Midoriya.  she could have anyone that she wanted.  why the hell would she stay with him? 

“ I --- sorry.  “     his voice is almost inaudible.     “ m --- maybe... we should... “     he’s not sure what he’s suggesting.  but at the same time there seemed to only be one outcome to all this.  the end that he’d been so determined to keep from happening.  he’d only sped it up.  and only had himself to blame.

honestly, he did really just like spending time with Bakugou and the others. but it was a little hit or miss if they wanted to spend time with him or not. which was fair, he didn’t want to be around himself all the time either. “ I’m trying that’s for sure. “

he concedes that he’s not going to win the argument. it wasn’t even really much of an argument. he could, of course, throw all of his tests from now on. but the idea of ruining his hard work and proving everyone else right —- well that just didn’t sit well in his chest. especially with how happy it seemed to make Nao and All Might when he passed. ugh. he’d really done it to himself now. “ I’d hope well or Bakugou might kick my ass with how much studying he’s been helping me with. “

“Well I’m glad that his help seems to be working.” Naomasa hummed, smiling a little. He heard the teen was smart, but ruthless in the way he went about the study groups they had. Whatever he was doing, it was working though. “I’m proud of you though. You put the work in and it shows.”

Denki had never really been anywhere if he was honest. unless it was with the class. but with the hero course anything that had been promised to be fun turned into a fight for their lives. he really had nothing to base anything off of. “ oh. “ pressing the ice pack to his side he can’t help but hiss softly. “ even just a trip to the shopping centre for a bit would be okay with me. “ he didn’t really need anything grand or elaborate. spending time with the detective and All Might was more than enough for him. they didn’t need to spend a bunch of money on him.

“I think a weekend in Tokyo might be a nice little getaway. I’ve got a ton of vacation days piled up to use.” And he had plenty of money put aside that he didn’t use. The frugal side of him didn’t like extravagance and he only bought what he needed but using it on a mini vacation to celebrate Denki’s achievements made sense. “We’ll see how your next test goes.”

Nao smiled, patting the teens head before sitting on the couch. Food was on order, so he picked up his newspaper to skim over it while he talked with the other. At the question though, he looked up, head tilted a fraction. “Well it all depends on where the trip is. Out of the country, of course it is. But if it’s just to Tokyo or even out in the country for the hot springs, it’s an entirely too high of a cost.”

“Next time we’ll go out and do something for a weekend. Sound like a plan?”

it was unlikely that he wasn’t ever going to be in danger. he was consistently in danger just being in 1-A at this point. which wasn’t something that he was going to point out when the elder already seemed upset. he wanted to be a pro hero! though at this rate if he just graduated he was going to consider himself lucky. “ would it make it better or worse if I promised to be more careful…. “ while today hadn’t entirely been his fault, he was sure that there would be a time when it was his own stupid decision that got him hurt.

“ oh! I passed my math test! “ its a long shot but perhaps it would be enough to turn the conversation away from his teachers getting yelled at. it was odd having people care about his well being. at least adults anyway. he was sure that Nezu could have called his father personally to say that he had been injured and his father would have just celebrated. this was still weirdly new.

“You’re not the one I’m worried about– Well you are but not like that–” Denki was a kid. A kid with an incredible quirk so he knew there was danger posed there. It was the teachers jobs to keep an eye on that and train them in a safe capacity. He would never assume that Denki was the cause of a training mishap. 

The redirection works though and he closes the freezer door with a smile now. “Hey! There we go! I knew you could do it kiddo. I think that calls for take out tonight. Your pick.”
