hot linguistic take on Taako’s speech

I started looking into this after reading several fics featuring Taako where his speaking voice was…kind of jarring to me? Mainly in the usage of vocatives. Taako uses vocatives (my dude, homie, darling etc) but he uses them in particular ways, and they’re often very overused when people write dialogue for Taako. 

Anyway, as I started researching this, it felt a little…mean-spirited? so I stopped lol. but the more I thought about it, the more I was interested in these particular quirks of Taako’s speech and how they add to his character. revisiting the balance finale and I am completely fascinated by davenport immediately concluding that they need to leave on the starblaster and continue to the next cycle. that’s so wild. it asks you to confront the fact that, even though the stolen century was only a few episodes, it covers 100 times more time than the rest of the podcast. davenport is ready for these last ten years to be just an incident in a long list of incidents. he’s ready for another 100 years, however long it takes to figure out a better plan. the fact that it could bring lup back! the fact that if lucretia won’t agree, it’s better to kill her and talk about it next cycle if need be! the fact that none of them could stay even if they wanted to. the fact that davenport of all of them is the most willing to let the world burn. would he have waited to try and get the light from lucretia? would taako? imagine what the first moments of them reforming in a new planar system would be. holy istus i can’t stop thinking about it.

the thing they dont tell you about listening to the adventure zone for the first time is that you'll miss them for the rest of your life. taako magnus and merle will be held in your heart wherever you go. when you binge it and get caught up to the eleventh hour in 2016 and you're a sophomore in high school shoving your sweatshirt sleeve in your mouth to stop yourself from laughing you have no idea that you'll be coming up on christmas 2022 and it's been six years and a goblin that looks like common and sounds like kelsey grammer will still make you laugh. you hear "are you naming your god damn wizard taako?" and that's it for you. you're in for life.
