'Hanging On' (Short) - Directed by Alfie Barker from Cosmosquare Films on Vimeo.
Set in Oulton, Leeds an old coal-mining community of over 60 houses still stand. Originally made as temporary council housing but sold onto private investors, they now sit with the threat of demolition, displacing a large number of residents, some who have lived there for all of their lives. Featuring a combination of audio interviews and artistic visuals we discover the stories of a close community of residents, their sentimental memories and the stress and uncertainty of an ongoing campaign to save their homes.
This documentary reminds us about the struggles of people slipping through the cracks of society and explores what it means to have a home.
Featuring the residents of Wordsworth Drive and Sugar Hill Close, Oulton, Leeds.

Memory of places from Hiroshi Kondo on Vimeo.
With COVID-19, the city was devoid of people.
The landscape that the city once possessed has changed completely, becoming silent and eerie.
However, the sense of déjà vu and memories that everyone has are still in the place itself.
With these memories, the city continues to mark time.

Still Life | Conner Griffith 2022 from Conner Griffith on Vimeo.
Composed of over 1000 engravings from the 19th century, Still Life is a meditation on subject/object dualism. The film explores the idea that we live in a world of objects and a world of objects lives within us. Working with this encyclopedia of prints as a sort of language, a story of consciousness emerges.

This film is an allegory toward clumsy people. Having met egocentric people, I go down the stairs of melancholia. I get swallowed up by the waves that I myself create. I know life is not only bad... But who am "I"? What am "I"?

Chemical Somnia from Scott Portingale on Vimeo.
Chemical Somnia is a cross-continental collaboration between filmmaker Scott Portingale and composer Gorkem Sen. The film transports the viewer into chemical dimensions, exploring phase transition, fluid dynamics, and chemical reactions. Timelapse and high speed photography were used on a macro scale to capture these elemental relationships in less than a square inch area on a petri dish.
*Headphones are strongly recommended to fully appreciate the resonance of the music performed by Gorkem Sen, on an instrument he invented, the yaybahar. For a deeper look and listen feel free to visit the link below of Gorkem in his Cypress studio.

Eternal Spring from Christopher Dormoy on Vimeo.
Ice is a beautiful element I love to work with in my video projects. I wanted to feature the ice melting aspect in timelapse process to illustrate the phenomen of global warming. Melting ice is beautiful and symbolize spring, but it can also symbolize problematic aspect of our climate.
To play with ice I used my special gear of macro photography, the famous Edelkrone ecosystem slider, my fantastic Laowa probe 24mm lens and the beautiful Nikkor 105mm macro lens. For this kind of project, the Nikon Z6 is perfect as the sensor is really sensible and efficient in dark area.

- Palm Springs ShortFest, Best of the Festival Jury
"Bold and delightfully original. A playful, tender and universal story about remaining unapologetically yourself in a relentless world, from a director with a refreshingly unique cinematic language. From the pacing to the use of colour, from the framing to the lead performance, Anna J. Takayama's 'The Voice Actress' is a vibrant, feminist gem of a film."
