people can be aromantic and not asexual. People can be asexual and not aromatic. Holy shit I wish people didn’t use those terms interchangeably.
this applies to real life, of course, but I see people in fandom do this all the time. A character can be aromantic coded and not asexual coded and vis versa. not every aspec coded character is aroace and I wish more people recognized that some characters are better read as aroallo

you cant ever let yourself forget what it felt like to be 15. how adults treated you. being treated without a shred of respect because people think youre too young to have thoughts and feelings of your own. the lack of autonomy. you cant ever forget that because if you do you might become the kind of adult who treats kids like theyre not people

My personal spectrum of special interest specificity goes from "orange cats" to "any form of artistic expression" it really truly can just be anything
It is funny to me how the "intense interest in unusual topics" part of autism can present differently for different people. Often it's something very specific and tangible, of which I have a few, but sometimes it's like ??? More of an abstract concept. My family has expressed confusion about how much I love, like, the human race. My friends have dubbed me "the safe sex guy" due to being the safe sex guy. I don't know. It's autism

It's like... the way gender roles + heteronormativity + misogyny + homophobia are all entwined. The idea of penetration being humiliating. The way women and queer people are branded as intrinsically sexual simply for existing, with the assumption that sex is shameful, and thus needs to be hidden and denied. The assimilationist neoliberal queer idea of playing into respectability politics and shunning open displays of queer sexuality in order to appease the normative culture. And this isn't a problem exclusive to allosexual queer people, acespec people have been shunned for acknowledging the *sex* part of sexuality even in the context of its absence, while others go not knowing they're acespec at all simply because no one is talking about it. It's all sooo... there's so much to say about all of this. It just keeps going on and on like that. And this isn't even getting into how race and disability etc interact with it
I really wholeheartedly believe we would all benefit from more open and honest conversations about sex, like. In general. Across the board. Sexual shame is at the root of so many different problems in our society and I am not joking in the slightest

Small PSA that you should probably be checking the ingredients in your personal lubricants, and looking up any chemicals you don't recognize, because I recently discovered that the astroglide brand water based lubricant I had been using contains quaternium-15, a preservative that slowly releases formaldehyde. From wikipedia:
"Quaternium-15 has been banned in the EU since 2017 and a bill was introduced in the US in 2017 to require the FDA to investigate its safety.[4][5]"
"Quaternium-15 is an allergen, and can cause dermatitis.[6] Many of those with an allergy to quaternium-15 are also allergic to formaldehyde."
"Although quaternium-15 releases low amounts of formaldehyde.[10] Even so, Johnson & Johnson announced plans to phase out its use of quaternium-15 in cosmetic products by 2015 in response to consumer pressure.[11][12]"
I'm sure you're more likely to have an adverse reaction to this if you have sensitivities to chemicals, but this cannot possibly be good for anyone to be putting in their bodies, especially long-term. I don't know which other brands use this, but astroglide is popular and cheap, so I felt the need to say something about that. This isn't common knowledge! I only checked what that chemical name meant because I was having recurring genital rashes and trying to rule out possible allergens
Sexual products *desperately* need to be better regulated than they are, but until then the best we can do is warn each other about this type of shit

"You survive this and in some terrible way, which I suppose no one can ever describe, you are compelled, you are corralled, you are bullwhipped into dealing with whatever it is that hurt you. And what is crucial here is that if it hurt you, that is not what’s important. Everybody’s hurt. What is important, what corrals you, what bullwhips you, what drives you, torments you, is that you must find some way of using this to connect you with everyone else alive. This is all you have to do it with. You must understand that your pain is trivial except insofar as you can use it to connect with other people’s pain; and insofar as you can do that with your pain, you can be released from it, and then hopefully it works the other way around too; insofar as I can tell you what it is to suffer, perhaps I can help you to suffer less."
- James Baldwin, The Artist's Struggle for Integrity

annarajagopal: indian jews exist. in thriving communities. some indian jewish subgroups have names based upon their history and origin, and there are many, but here are a few: cochin jews, the bene israeli and the baghdadi jews. there are also the bnei menashe.
much indian jewry showcases the beauty of indian cultures whilst also maintaining the lifeblood of the jewish people:
“israel is in my heart, india is in my blood,” says ezekiel malekar, the rabbi (head priest) of the synagogue judah hyam hall.
globally, many indian jews have backgrounds in hinduism and buddhism, among other prominent religions in india. some indian jews have even hybridized their practices to be representative of their multicultural backgrounds.
