TORN LANSCAPES SERIES If the main concern of Maryse Pique through the exploration of lines and layers is to create in-between spaces within her works, we might add that the result is widely inspired on a new non-narrative line of the pictorial "discourse", from which to express all the things that concepts cannot capture, without the support of an interactive atmosphere. A challenge based on the construction of visual monogrammes and signs of abstract sequences, determined by suggestive silhouettes, slipping progressively on differents backgrounds, as a visual metaphor of the erosion of an imaginary landscape. Opening-up new horizons to compose other narratives for stimulate the viewers to create some visual ways for themselves, without signs of signification but of intensity. Like on previous occasions, the visible and invisible at once, synchronized under the same codes, trying to approach another types of landscapes to differents aesthetic concerns. 'MEDUSA: THE METAMORPHOSIS', Claire Milner

Part of the artists latest and ongoing collection of oil paintings ‘Allegories of Identity’ is inspired by fashion as a means of expressing identity and individuality. The paintings revisit themes from art history and mythology (Mnemosyne, Artemis, Ara Pacis etc). The subjects are a combination of statuary and world citizen, free of racial or defining features and the compositions reflect and set the mood for the couture in the manner of a film set. The paintings have art historical antecedents, and include allusions to artists such as Modigliani, De Lempicka, Bernini, Longhi, Picasso and Rousseau as well as drawing on the artists' experience in the advertising and design industry and study of Roman and Byzantine mosaics.
