Guys i dont know what’s going to happen in Queen of Tears but if we’re basing it on the usual kdrama formula… she’s not going to die.

When a character is being set up to die, the writers keep them safe until the last episode but they plant these little clues early on. Bc if they had them on the verge of death in early eps like ep 10-14, its going to be anti climatic. I wouldnt have much impact on the audience.

Example of this is myung hee from Youth of May. They focused on hurting Hee Tae instead and kept myung hee out of harm from ep 1 to 11.

Another one is Ji Eun Tak of Goblin and Jang Han Seo of Vincenzo and Big Mouth’s Go Mi Ho.

I hate how the booktokification of the “unhinged woman” genre has completely reduced the concept of female rage to just “girlboss” without taking seriously how important it is to unequivocally portray female rage.

Throughout the history of literature, we’ve been given countless instances of women in despair and in sadness but save for a few writers (take Euripides, for example), we’ve rarely ever been given angry women who aren’t the villains or the foil for the perfect poised passive princess. Female rage has constantly been subdued and erased or warped into “she’s just batshit crazy” in pretty much every society.

And now that publishing and media marketing has reduced women showing rage in books to the “white hypersexual girlboss with a knife”, instead of uplifting the way women are allowed to have more dimension and sympathy in their visible anger than ever in literature, the media still isn’t taking this subgenre seriously.

So…. Is it safe now to discuss how disappointing the last episodes of Alchemy of Souls Part 2 were?

I AM RIGHT I AM RIGHT. I never doubted jin buyeon. I always knew shes just doing her part of the prophecy. she wasnt weak enough to be overpowered by jin mu and his bells. she let him petrify naksu bc jang uk was leaving his destiny behind. She let naksu have the ice stone so it can find its way to jang uk. She lured the soul shifter in jinyowon. She opened the barrier to naksu’s room so jang uk can find her. She triggered the course of events.

I think y’all forgot the scene where mudeok/naksu feeds on the eunuch’s energy and was still a normal person. Also, buyeon is NOT just a great priestress. She was THE most powerful priestess of Daeho (choyeon said the Jin family are the most powerful priestesses of Daeho and Jin Mu said that buyeon’s power exceeds lady jin’s at such young age) who could control the energy of the sky and can trap the most powerful mage in one’s body. How can a mere spell overpower her? 😩 Shaman Choi and jin Mu arent even that strong/powerful compared to Park Jin, Lady Jin, and Master Lee. Jin Mu was even scared of Naksu but somehow, He can beat THE girl who can summon the sky?

I’m just saying there must be something deeper going on and its not about buyeon getting overpowered because thats impossible given how much they reiterated that shes the most powerful priestess throughout the show.

(The only reason i could think of was she let naksu ran wild so jang uk can fulfill his prophecy. After all, She was the one who gave the ice stone to Naksu which found its way to Jang Uk.)
