I’m trying different approaches. One with a single value and playing with the pressure of the pen, and another with only 3 values for general shape. I added another one for foliage.
Earlier this week I bought Devin Korwin’s books (Creative Fundamentals 1&2) and in one chapter he talks about understanding value and translating real world light into a compress version we can work on.

And I wanted to give it a try, since it’s something a struggle a lot. I also bought Jenn Ravenna curated photo refs (they are free if you are interested) since i love the aesthetics in her works. I used one of her images. The images are available in photoref.org 🤗
