So I went to read the Kids Online Safety Act, thinking that it couldn't possibly be as bad as what people are making it out to be, I mean I'm a lawyer and expert in statutory interpretation, it can't be that bad, right?

Oh no. KOSA IS that bad. It will literally eradicate queer people online.

The bill says that a "covered platform" - broadly defined as "anything on the internet a minor might use" which is literally the entire fucking internet- has a "duty" to protect minors from anything that might harm them, including "sexual exploitation" and other undefined terms

It also gives state attorneys general the ability to sue to enforce it.

So here's exactly what's gonna happen:

Wacko republicans, as they've been doing with increasing force this year and last, are going to sue any and every website in existence, saying that the mere existence of LGBT people online constitutes sexual abuse of minors. And websites are gonna be so afraid of not doing the most that they'll just axe all LGBT everything.

Like. Republicans have been calling all LGBT people groomers and child molesters for years. The lead Republican literally admitted this bill will be used to attack trans people.

This bill is BAD bad. I'm appalled that democrats are lining up behind what is clearly a republican Trojan horse to eradicate LGBT people from the entire internet.

Hi everyone, I figured me coming here would be worth a shot. I’m a Afro-Indigenous queer disabled person who’s trying to raise some money for bills and such. I’ve been trying to get on disability but was denied, so I’m going through with an attorney to help. Until it gets solved, I’m trying to scrape by.

Right now, I’m just looking for any money I can get to ease the load for bills, medical equipment, etc. My health is declining rapidly and trying to get art and crochet commissions have been difficult.

Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

SO one of the interesting statistics from my aromantic census was that 51% of the so far 1,500 respondents were autistic. that is a huge abnormality and so i designed a basic survey for autistic and arospec people. you can take it here. then all that’s left is a control group to compare to- non arospec autistic people, who can please take the control group survey here.

the only rules are- you can be diagnosed or undiagnosed, as long as you believe you’re autistic. any arospec identity is free to participate and i really appreciate anyone who shares this around- the larger the sample size, the better more reliable results i get. for the control group, any autistic person, diagnosed or not, who isn’t aro is encouraged to participate. if you want to be tagged in the results, let me know!

As a person that's helped a lot of people that's question if they were aspec.

My correction isn't "aspec people can be normal" so much as "these preconceived notions have confused a lot of questioning aspec people"

Because I have a theory that there's a lot of people that are ace, aro, bi, or pan that just don't know it because of these preconceived notions.

And the first question I'm asked is "I feel like I might be ace but I really enjoy sex."

I mean yes. Being a virgin isn't a bad thing and never experiencing romantic love is not a bad thing. Shoot. I'm a virgin. But how do I know that the only reason why you're not calling yourself asexual because sex is fucking amazing and you're really out there not experiencing sexual attraction but really loving sex?

(I like... often forget that I'm a virgin because the idea of sex ever applying to me completely slips my mind 😅)

The response to "ace people are just virgins who can't get laid!" Shouldn't be "ace people can still have sex!" but instead " being a virgin isn't a bad thing."

The response to "aro people are just heartless freaks!" Shouldn't be "aro people can still feel love!" And instead be "not feeling love or other emotions doesn't make you a bad person."

Instead of pushing the idea that aspec people can be "normal like allos" we should instead be trying to normalize aspec experiences. Yes aspec people can be normal because aspec identities are normal. Some aros fall in love. some aces have sex. but they should not be the only valid aspec experiences. We should not use these experiences to make the aspec identity more palatable to amatonormativity and allos.
