It depends on who organized the date, and which movies you guys are going to watch.

If you did, and it’s anything but romcoms, he will give you shit about it leading up to the movies

However when they actually start and you guys sit together

Karkat will quiet down aside from the occasional comment here and there

Because he knows that you put up with his movies, so it’s only fair he returns the favor

And it kind of gives him insight into the stuff you like, which he wants to know more about so you guys can talk more too

If you do choose romcoms, be prepared to be criticized hard (the movie not you necessarily)

It’s his favorite genre, so he has a lot to say, and Karkat isn’t afraid to comment on it either

You will know whole heartedly wether or not he thinks the movie is a waste of time or not by the time the credits start rolling

He also 100% compares human and troll culture, especially surrounding romance. He thinks human movies are boring as fuck (for the most part)

If he is the one who sets up the date, he will probably be eerily quiet

Don’t look over because Karkat is staring at you intensely to make sure you’re reacting and to study wether or not you like the movie

It’s a little unsettling, but it’s also kind of cute

He has a little blush on his cheeks and his face is scrunched up a bit in his focus

He just wants to share his interests and wants to make sure you’re having fun

Even if he does make it a little awkward

Regardless of who did what, Karkat wants to have a long discussion after the movie(s) are over

Wants to hear your views and opinions, and isn’t scared of sharing his own with you either

He honestly likes talking with you about it more than watching the actual movie

During the movie he will be so focused, but if you reach over to grab his hand or cuddle his mind will blank

Especially if you two aren’t together yet or just aren’t really physically affectionate too often

He will not remember a thing except for how much he liked touching you

It’s probably right then that he realizes just how touch starved he really is

Ever since he was a grub he was waiting for his soulmate to attempt to contact him first

Until one day on the meteor he pretty much gave up entirely on soulmates

His entire damn universe was destroyed you probably died with all the other trolls

He started to think the whole thing was a sham or that the gods decided he wass unworthy to have one

Then one morning he saw a note on his arm

“ Is anyone out there?”

He quickly grabbed a pen and wrote back on his hand it was quicker to get your attention that way

“ HI WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU? ”

He waited impatient for a reply

“Oh hi! what’s your name?”

That’s cute

“I DON’T FEEL LIKE SHARING MY NAME TO A PERSON ON MY ARM”

“Okay then!”

His face flushed

You guys talked for a bit getting to know each other

He left after a bit saying he had to lead his group of idiots

When he went out everyone noticed he was a little less of a dick

And even saw him smile for a split second

Thank god for his sweater cause if it wasn't for that he would be being bothered by everyone-

This continued talking all the time only spotting when you both run out of space and have to go wash it off

You were nice! And put up with him all the damn time

But dear god he found something to hate about you the second he saw the stupid dick doodles on his arms

Then the weird scribbles on his neck ( thank god for his sweater)

He fucking despised you when you drew cat ears and whiskers

Sollux wouldn’t let him live it down no matter what

He sent you some very strong worded messages after that

But never the less you guys kept talking

You kept fucking with him and Nepeta quickly figured out what was happening

She was going to tell people but kept it on the low for him

Except for Gamzee

She told him impulsively and didn’t realize till later

Gamzee was happy for his best friend!

What a miracle to still have a soulmate! He wished he still had his so he mentioned how happy he was for him

Karkat being karkat denied him and goes off about him being dumb unti;

He points out that x’s are being drawn on his jawline

He cursed you out and made him promise not to tell anyone

In exchange of him knowing how you acted

But when the stupid fleshbeasts showed up fucking everything up annoyed the living hell out of them he started to complain to you specifically about john

You said you knew someone named John and he was also a bit dense at times

But After the incident happened

Everyone pretty much being dead and three humans being put on the meteor with him

He hated Dave but he could tolerate DAve and you-

You were hard to place

Sometimes he wanted to rip out your guts but sometimes he wanted to be your friend

But he could admit that you were cute and he liked your god tier outfit

Until one day about a year after being stuck on the meteor he walked into your room to tell you something to find you drawing on yourself?

He was confused until he realized oh shit you could have a soulmate too!

It was nice to have someone to talk about it with

He talked about his soulmate and you told him about yours

This went on for a bit until you mentioned a boy over your nightly doodles

His gut felt weird twisting in a jealousy of sorts

You talked highly of him seeing him as a really close friendand when he asked his name you said “Dave!”

His stomach dropped

He recognized that name

“DAVE? WHY ARE THE MOST ANNOYING PEOPLE ALWAYS NAMED DAVE”

“ you haven’t even met him K!”

He liked the nicknames you gave him

“NO BUT I DO KNOW THAT DAVES ARE FUCKING ASSHOLES WHO GET ON YOUR NERVES ALL THE DAMN TIME”

“Really now? Tell me”

He proceeded to go on a long rant about dave but it ending in a strider instead of Dave

It was your turn to be stunned

“Wait wait wait Strider??”

“YES SO WHAT?”

“BLOND,RED CAPE , SHADES THINKS HE’S A RAP GOD”

It was the first time he had written easily so you didn’t have to decipher what he said

Then you realized

You quickly drew a heart on your finger and went to the couch

It was so late nobody was up

“Hey soulmate” you said holding up your arm

“ SO IT’S YOU…”

He got a bone crushing hug from you and a kiss on the cheek

He was so surprised at the sudden attention he froze but he did hug back
