You said Spy!Pyro hums, right? Is it an attempt at communication, or do they do it just for themselves? It could be really creepy. Like, imagine you’re alone in a corridor, and suddenly hear something like this

Because of the combination of a facemask like spy’s and a mask, it’s difficult for them to move their mouth (or, well, they really hate the way it feels and it doesn’t muffle their voice very much.) They prefer to communicate with ASL, but like some hard of hearing people (or at least my aunt does) they tend to try and say what they’re saying in ASL at the same time, though it’s humming instead. They do, however, hum songs constantly, yes. The songs are always various lullabies or songs that sound relaxing to them and helps them think/focus, but most of the other mercs can find this creepy yes haha,,  unrelated, man I haven’t heard this song in so long. I kind miss little nightmares lol

Aight, first order of business: Im giving all the mercs a hug. No, you cannot run away or stop me, come get yalls hugs.

The reactions: Scould: Happily returns the hug, gives a small pat on your back as you two hug. His hugs feels like he’s seeing an old friend for the first time in years. Mulder: He takes it as a challenge to hug harder. His hugs feel like it’ll make your lungs explode. He can fix that though, thankfully. Spyro: Happily returns the hug. Tight like a child hugging their parent. Demoneer:  Gives a one arm hug much like Demoman hugged Soldier in the WAR! comic. Feels how you’d expect- like a drunk man hugging his friend while shouting out an order for another bear. Demy: Great big bear hugs. A little too tight for comfort, but not enough to hurt. Feels like someone hugging another that almost died but turned out okay in the end. Sneer: A half-hearted hug with small pats on the back. Feels like two friends saying goodbye knowing they’ll see each other tomorrow. Havoc: Punches you in the gut and laughs. If you’re lucky enough to get a return hug it’s extremely clingy and tight with his nails digging into you. It feels like a friend hugging another knowing they’ll never meet again. Piper: A happy hug that’s light, but tight enough to feel welcoming. Feels like a hug you give a family member you love when you see them after a good while. Sky: Much like Sneer’s, however a hard pat on the shoulder after the hug is always present. Feels like a dad trying to console their son that’s sucking at baseball.

Oh 100%, but that’s also if he’d have any interactions with him in the comics. One look and Havoc might just call cheavy a bitch. Though that also brings up the question on if I’ll be swapping the classics too- I’m thinking not just because I feel like it’d stray far, far too much from the original comics if I do but at the same time it’d feel wrong not to. You said the Pyrovision is a bit darker, right? I would love if you elaborated on that! I imagine it being kind of like an acid trip. Not as cute visuals, but still out of touch with reality.

This was a little hard for me to make visuals for but I hope these help: I imagined it as if it was just normal maps with some pyrovision accents (the flowers, lolichops) but it doesn’t change the color of the buildings or ground into pastels. They keep their normal grey, brown, w/e but heavily desaturated.

(in the first pic the building wouldnt be pink and the rocks wouldnt have the pink stripe, for ex) Things that are important in-game such as the intel and uniforms are way more saturated. Lights are also much more saturated. Natural and unnatural! The sun is no exception, although the sun’s is much more faint and is mostly fixed on the sun itself, it doesn’t affect much of the normal world that it normally wouldn’t already.  I also imagined the gore to still be present, but with that pyrovision-esc twist. The best I could think of that’s what I meant is with layers of fear:

The various paint platters would be blood in the game/universe to spyro. Blood is also heavily saturated to the rest of the world. I also drew a little comparison thing:

This is also partially why they paint quite a bit- though it’s unconventional. Seeing the world in a lot of desaturated colors makes things really drab in comparison if you see blood being, well, so colorful. Most of the time they don’t even realize they’re painting with blood- they view it like a different type of paint (since they can still use normal paints!) They also still have a fascination to fire as well.  As you can see it’s a much more “normal” version of pyrovision in that it replicates the real world well, but the various difference are specific to them. Hope this helped you to understand!

Is Pyro!Sniper regularly seen without the mask?

Yes! Piper only wears it when he’s working, otherwise his asthma will heavily act up. He sometimes wears a different one (not connected to a tank) when there’s any fires around, including his and Sneer’s campfires. It usually muffles his voice like pyro would, but not as badly. Somethings are hard to understand with his accent, though.
