Without thinking, Ritsuka yelled out Urie's name, startling both Jek and Jenna.

"Seriously, Urie you..."

Then it only registered that she should have been calling him in the first place. She brought out her phone and dialed Urie's number. A series of rings came from the line until it was dropped for some reason. Before Ritsuka could hang up, voice mail played Urie's voice.

"Butterfly, if you're calling then it must meant you found the note. Clever! In the Third Library you will find a book that will contain your next clue to finding us. Follow the petals."

And with that the line cut off completely.

Ritsuka went down to the two other companions and pocketed her phone.

"Our next clue is in the third library. Urie's voice message said to follow the petals."

Ritsuka looked at Jek with an inquisitive eye and deadpanned.

"Of course. I've seen my brother turn red a lot." she ironically said.

But more importantly, there was a matter at hand that needed more attention than the vampire's face.

"Maybe we should go out and find people. Let's try the greenhouse. Urie is there most of the time."

Ritsuka placed the Pomeranian down and headed to the greenhouse where an orange-haired incubus usually resided. The quietness was a little unsettling but there were still birds chirping here and there in the garden.

"This is so strange. Usually, there are a lot of girls here."

Ritsuka climbed up the stairs to an indoor pavilion to find no one there but a note on the table.

Ritsuka held the dog in her arms lovingly and protectively from the vampire yelling at the innocent pooch.

“Hey, he’s not doing anything to you. Don’t be mean.”

Although she was thankful that Jek wasn’t as intense as Shiki. She once thought the purple-haired male had issues because he would take a fistful of Roen’s fur and rip it out without mercy.

“You’re not serious about sensing no one else but us, are you?”

But Ritsuka could not help herself noticing.

“Are you alright? Your face looks a little red.”

Ritsuka couldn't help but hold a snicker when Jek had scolded her about being careful opening doors. Instead of someone whom she should fear, it ended up as someone she could laugh at now too.

"Okay, but why are you following us?" she asked.

The pomeranian inside didn't help with Jek's recovery. Instead, because of its excited nature, the dog jumped right on Jek's chest and was pushing him down hard on the ground to cover his face with lots of licks.

"Heel boy, heel!" Ritsuka scolded, easily picking up the excited dog.

Nope, Roen would NEVER do something like that, Ritsuka shook her head.

She kept the dog in her arms and backed away just a little bit.

"Do you have anything to do with all this sudden disappearance of everyone?"

Despite Jenna's attempts to make Roen speak, the Pomeranian did not transform back into its humanoid devil form. Instead, it looked at the two girls, tilting its head to the side in confusion.

"Not even for a biscuit?" Ritsuka tried to sway him.

When the dog didn't seem to show any sign of cooperation, Ritsuka had resigned to the idea that Roen wasn't this dog at all.

"I don't think a threat from Maksis is going to cut it, Jenna. This dog seems so innocent."

Ritsuka turned around on her heel and marched to the door. She swung the large wooden doors hard that it hit a person right at the nose.

The hooded figure's face was revealed with a bleeding nose.

"Vampire!"

The dog only lolled his tongue out lazily before yawning. It was as if the pooch did not understand a single thing Ritsuka had said. She looked at Jenna and then back at Roen.

“It’s okay, Roen. Shiki isn’t here.”

But still no response.

“Jenna I’m beginning to worry that this pomeranian isn’t Roen.”

Roen normally showed up in his human form whenever Ritsuka requested it. However this time he didn’t seem to pay attention. Or listen. Or perhaps, even comprehend!

Ritsuka made sure to knock before the doors swung open for her and Jenna to come in. The entryway was shaded by the second balcony and was kind of cramped by the numerous shelves.

When they finally reached the council table, the room was empty.

There was no sign of any of the student council members. Not Rem nor Urie. No Mage or Shiki. However, they did see a pomeranian sleeping at the side of the table.

"Look it's Roen."

Ritsuka cautiously crouched down and petted the dog, scratching behind his ears to wake him up.

'You're really cuter in this form, Roen." she chuckled.

She looked around the place, still seemingly empty aside for them. Normally, the building would have people around but today was exceptionally empty.

"The school seems to be so empty today. Usually, people would be busy around this time because of the school festival. I have a bad feeling about this."

She turned around, checking if there were any others in the building to find no one at all. The girl was about to make a beeline for the door when she got surprised that another student was now standing in front of her.

There were two options Ritsuka could choose. Either run to her brother or run to Rem. Lindo would surely be at home but then how far can she get if someone was following her? Deciding that running to the third library was the fastest solution, Ritsuka made a sprint to the library building.

Which was suspiciously empty at the time too.

Her footsteps seemed to be too loud from the lack of people in the building. Ritsuka ascended up the winding stairs up to the third library.

Dance with Devils Headcanons for the boys finding their not yet S/O waitressing at a maid cafe

Rem

-He didn’t realize it was “that kind of cafe” until he came in.

-Then you’re standing there in a cute frilly dress greeting him with “Welcome back, Master!” and he somehow just doesn’t know how to politely hightail it out of there. He may or may not be dumbstruck at the sight of you in such a cute little dress. And at you calling him Master.

-He orders a food set where you have to do a spell to make the food taste good. You hand him a pink magic wand and he looks like he’s died a little inside. However, you may be the only person in the entire universe who has ever heard Rem attempt to say the words “Moe moe kyun”. Relish that for whatever it’s worth to you.

-The stuff he orders comes with a pair of cat ears. He takes them, says thank you, and incinerates them under the table the moment your back is turned.

-He’s not into this, but you’re there and you’re smiling and you’re too cute and he just can’t bring himself to get up, say this is ridiculous, and leave.

-While you go about waiting on other tables, he watches you. He admires that you can maintain such a high level of energy and peppiness for such a long time, and that you’re clearly working your tail off.

-He found the experience helped him loosen up and relax a bit, something he didn’t know he needed. He might come back eventually, but he definitely won’t order something where he has to say “Moe moe kyun” again.

Urie

-Urie came in with some of his butterflies, not realizing that you worked there.

“Welcome back, Master!” 

“Oh? What’s this?” He looks you up and down flirtatiously, unabashedly admiring you.

-He really enjoys the experience. Magic spell on the food to make it taste good? He makes with a heart with his hands and plays along with a smile. While internally laughing. Humans are so cute when it comes to magic, with their ignorance towards its reality. Animal ears? Sure, why not. Something drawn with chocolate sauce on his mocha latte? Yes please, can you do a cat?

-When you’re serving other customers, he watches you, flitting about and going back and forth constantly. The girls he’s with are glaring at you by the end of it because they’re so annoyed that he’s checking out the cute maid waitress instead of paying attention to them.

-He’ll be back. He’s your new regular who always asks for you. It gets to the point where your boss asks if you’re a couple or he’s stalking you.

Mage

-Came in expecting cute girls from the sign and not entirely sure what the whole maid cafe thing was about.

-Goes so red at “Welcome back, Master!” and it all goes downhill for him from there.

-He knew you worked at a cafe, but he wasn’t exactly thinking this kind. And now it’s awkward to leave.

-Your uniform is so frilly… and short… and his gaze is everywhere but on you because of how awkward this is.

-Everything’s so… frilly. And cutesy. Put a spell on the food? What are you talking about? And why are those people wearing cat ears? He’s super flustered and confused the entire time.

-While you’re working with other customers, he’s blatantly checking you out. You’re adorable. You’re adorable. And your legs are… He eventually redirects his attention back to his plate so no one sees how red he’s going.

-He goes for the picture with you at the end. He looks so super uncomfortable doing a heart with his hands while standing next to you, but hey, it’s a picture with you.

-He probably won’t come back for a while because of how weird that whole situation was. But eventually wanting to see you specifically you in your maid outfit more takes over and he starts coming in more often.

Shiki

-“Welcome back, Master!”

Shiki stares at you for a moment in puzzlement. Then he smirks.

-”What can I get for you today?”

“I don’t know. You look like the best thing here.”

“I… what?”

-Doesn’t really get this entire thing, but nothing phases him and he just goes along with everything like it’s the most normal thing in the world.

-At the end, when he gets a picture with you, he does a nice, normal pose. Then leans across at the last minute and licks your neck. Now there’s a picture for posterity.

-The only reason he didn’t get kicked out is that he was using magic so no one noticed what was going on.

-He starts coming in on a regular basis after that. One day, though, when you come into work, you find out he’s been banned from the store. You never find out why, but one of the booths has mysteriously vanished and the maid who served him is visibly skittish of you for a long time.

Lindo

-At your greeting, he just stares at you blankly. “You work here?”

“…Yes?”

“I just… well, it’s good to see you.”

-He’s a little bit uncomfortable about the whole thing. Maid cafes aren’t really his thing. He just does whatever you tell him to in this kind of awkward but trying to be nice way.

-“Okay, now make a heart with your hands, hold it over your curry, and say ‘Moe, moe, kyun’! With me!”

“Moe.. moe… kyun?” He’s very confused and a little concerned that a place this bizarre is so full, but you’re so upbeat and happy he goes along with it.

-He finds himself getting used to the experience as it goes on and watches you go about your work. He finds himself admiring the fact that you’ve taken a job to make money, and that you can maintain such a high level of happy energy and big smiles for everyone who comes in the door.

-He might come back a couple times to see you, but it’s not really his thing.

Roen

-“Welcome back, Master!”

Roen looks you up and down for a moment in puzzlement. “…What are you doing?”

-He thinks this whole maid cafe thing is very, very silly. You ask him to do a little magic thing to make the food and he just stares at you like you’ve gone insane. Why is he here? I don’t know. Just don’t offer him cat ears if you value your relationship.

-While he eats, he watches you go about your work and admires your handling of customers.

-All in all, he won’t come back. While he find it amusing to be called “Master” for once in his life, the whole cutesy cafe thing weirds him out.

-It wasn’t so bad, though, since you were the waitress.

-He will never, ever admit it, but he REALLY liked seeing you in the maid outfit.
