((well, I don’t know, Sai is pretty helpful to make everything nicer and softer, I mean, I cannot draw on photosop as well as in sai.... or at least my lines are fatter and shakier in photoshop

but kinda I do this way: I draw a random sketch, pretty rough sketch with a light colour (pink here) and then on a new layer I outline with black. for settings, I choose the smallest brush and I zoom in, using the stabilizator too to make my lines straighter and not shakey. I am always zoom in and draw the outline with big and faster movements on tablet. this helps to make the lines straighter too.

then I just hide the sketch layer and add a new layer, under the outline, I fill the whole thing with one colour. yes, only one colour first, then I lock this layer and do the colours. this jsut helps to not go out of line. in photoshop the filling works less good as in sai. and the outlines has to be closed everywhre. if it is open, you can’t fill well.

on this art I did the shading too, however mostly I do shading on new layer.

then I can add the BG and maybe some extra shading/light for the colours, which makes the drawn character fitting more into the BG, especially for darker BGs

and of course more details on new layers and so on. I just doodle, I am not really drawing any good art for years, so I suck at art, but if you practice, you can.

here is a tutorial of mine I did about how I colour. shows more details, settings and explains better. this way of colouring makes me able to do art faster too. if you need any more art help or have ask, try to find me on my personal blog @marttikakkiainen or artblog @s-martti-artti ))

((let’s see, many years ago, when the 2ps were new, I created him, this was my design, later a cool artist used my design to draw a 2p nordics. that art got popular and after that people started using my design or similar to my design. it become popular it seems. none of my other 2p nordics become popular like my 2p denmark, but nobody knows my blog or that I created this design first. I have never seen 2p denmark like this. I am happy it got kind of popular design in 2p versions, thank you all, even you didn’t know this.

I will always call the lightblonde with darkblue eyes with a scar on left cheek, who is wearing black with red tie as my own design, but feel free to use it C: it just makes me happy people uses it))
