Quill shifted his shoulders casually, humming. seemingly only half acknowledging the Delphox behind him.

In fact, his attention was fixed on him completely. Quill removed his visor, placing it on the table, and quickly turned around.

He wore an uncharacteristically hostile sneer, and the cadence of his voice seemed to shift slightly. Was he breaking character?

“’Couldn’t beat a child’? I can’t tell if your words come out of your mouth or your backside.” 

He got up, and was quickly at the Arbiter’s side. 

“Do you think I haven’t spent hours training? Over, and over, and over. I know what I’m doing. I will do whatever to takes to keep her safe, you know. Anything. And I’ll succeed doing it, too. Failure isn’t an option.

But if you’re unsure,”

“With words like that, you must have great confidence in your own abilities. So why don’t we test each other?”

"I..." The Delphox hesitates. The happy energy of The Witching Hour appears to fade away, back to the lonely blue it once was.

Nerio@Arbiter: The shiny Crawdaunt approached Arbiter. "You are a delphox are you not? I have met many before and you are strange for one." He said rather rudely.

"Am I, now," he replied curtly, somewhat affected by the taunt. “You all seem to have it in your heads that I’m unusual. I don’t like that insinuation.”

"Maybe it's because you don’t have a wand? Most Delphox look more... Y’know! Mage-y?"

For some reason, her mild consideration seemed to quell his growing temper, instead catching him off-guard. “... M-maybe?”

* Cody's demeanor, the posture in which he was holding himself in and tone in which he was speaking, implied positive connotations and legitimate curiosity.

"....Where in the world do you live that you consider this green?" There was more frustration in his voice, as if a sore spot had been pressed. “It’s cool yellow,” he insisted.

"I was born this way. I know most Delphox are orange, but..." He hesitated. “I just happen to be blue because... Actually, nevermind. Anyone who looks closely at me should be able to figure out why,” he emphasizes, staring deep into the compound eyes staring back at him.

He turned the question around on the Mew. “You tell me, why are you so sure you’re green? What joy does that bring you?”

Quill @ Arbiter: "Hello-hello, Mr. Lime-furred man!" the Gothitelle waved to get the Arbiter's attention. "Might you remember me? Despite all my flaws?" it was hard to tell if Quill was being silly, snide, or both. "I noticed your friend over there. Or is she more than a friend? I, too, have a lady I am very fond of. Tell me about yours! What drew you to her? A fated meeting, perhaps?"

"Lime furred...?" He muttered the phrase under his breath, as if lightly surprised to hear those words.

He recalled the flashy buffoon so invested in rolling around in the dirt like a Grumpig, now coming to his space... "I remember your lady. The small one with the big ears. I find it hard to believe a girl like her finds one like yourself attractive, but... Different strokes for different folks, I suppose."

He turned his head to the side, seeing the Gardevoir having the time of her life playing with the quiet Mew from earlier. "The Witness, she's..." A certain airless quality to his voice. He appears to be too flustered to name a quality.

“You should know what I mean when I say... I want to protect her smile no matter what.”

Eon floated around The Witness for a moment before landing and holding up a note, "If Arbeeter cant eat food here, does that mean no one else can? I don't know what fae are??" - quietmew

"Hmm... That's a good question!” The Witness looks up at the Mew’s note, thinking about how to phrase it in a way that might be acceptable for a child.

"Fae are those who have ties to The Nevernever! Thousands of years ago, our two worlds used to be one, and fae and normal Pokemon lived alongside each other... But... Something bad happened, so fae had to hide. In order to keep from getting hurt, we created The Nevernever. Any Fairy-type has ties to The Nevernever and can eat the fruit or pick the flowers in The Witching Hour.”

She holds out her hand for Eon to follow her. “I could use your help, actually! Would you like to be helpful? Can you help me look for flowers with lots of happy energy?”

"Hu... Man? I don't think I've ever met a Pokemon with that name before. Is she nice? Hee hee! Wait! Wait wait wait! Are you saying you’ve never met a Pokemon who walks on two legs before? That’s amazing! I’m glad to be your first!” "The Witness is a Gardevoir, and I'm a Delphox. There isn't anything weird about us... " His words seem strained.

(@askunseeliecourt) Judge@Appos: The Mimikyu approaches the Eevee hybrid seeming rather... Confused, but not alarmed. Curious, she settles by her side, her paw hovering around Appos' beak. "You are quite a strange looking one, yes? Like me. There are others like us, yes? The 'haitch-gee-ey,' makes other strange ones us, don't they? How are they made? Is it magic? Is it cruelty?" Her tail wraps around the Typevee. "Do people dislike the 'haitch-gee-ey?' You seem to like them."

Appos replies, "Well, basically, there's these devices that you can insert two blood samples into, right? And that helps scientists splice them together. Then they incubate the tiny biomass until it turns into an egg, and then it gets incubated like any other egg! That's the gist of it, not magic but it sure feels like it!"

Her moods drops significantly at the other question.

"The week before the building got burned down by M2-N, there was a big case of vandalism."

"The security cameras caught a Trainer and his Sandslash messing up the place. They got arrested for property damage. But because of what Team Rocket, Team Plasma, and the Aether Foundation did to their artificial Pokemon, there's been a lot of incidents like this..."

Or, better yet, why are you so drawn to her while the rest seem to hate her? There must be a reason you're doing this. What makes her different? What makes -you- so different?"

"She gave me a Magost Berry when a big Pupirunt bully took my snack for the day. And when I saw her sitting alone, I realized, even if no one hated you, you can still feel really lonely. So I sat by her and we became friends fast."

Skye's wings fluffed up a bit as she clarified on the differences between them, "Appos is super kind and gentle, she tries to see the best in everybody and she's got a cute voice. I'm just hyper and I can't control how loud I get. And I act before I think sometimes. I guess she's better than me in that kinda way?"

“No, I’m not fae. I have a contract with The Judge.” The Delphox swished his tail in frustration, his arms folded across his chest. “I... didn’t read between the lines...” There was a sort of subtle frustration in his voice. Exasperated, yet somehow at peace with the situation.

The Witness perked her ears up at the discussion. “That’s right! He can’t take anything from here, only interact with it. Her powers create The Witching Hour. Though, she doesn’t control it, she simply supplies the power... Things have been a little strange, however.”

“I’ve.. Been meaning to ask you about that. The Judge... Got a little upset. Burned her anchor. We need you to make a new one.”

"Ohh, right right right! The Judge calls me The Witness." She laughs a very light giggle. "It's a silly nickname, but it makes her happy. As for where we are... Did he not tell you?" "I think I told someone." "We're in The Witching Hour! It's a small little dimension outside of reality. Most things can't find there way here unless they're invited, or they find their way here by accident! It’s to protect me and The Judge."

“That might have been too much,” he gently scolded. “Too much?” “Too much.”
