Comics Progress Update

Howdy Creative Creators and welcome to 2023! Wooooo! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.

Now, the every moving passage of time aside, I've got a progress update for my comics! As some of you here may know, I run two ask blogs! @askthedreemurr-fontfamily and @askyoungcharaut-ish! Though I recently added a third blog too! Though not a comic, @hisui-researcher-lilax is a more casual ask blog where I post about my trainersona's journey's in Hisui as I finish Legends Arceus (well, eventually finish. We're perfecting the Pokédex first because I'm insane)

Anyways, onto the comics. As is tradition at this point, I have made new watermarks for both my regular work and both AtDFF and AYC for the new year. Why do I insist on putting the year in the my watermarks? So I know when I drew the thing!

Not much to say about them, they're just watermarks. Though for AYC's, I did search up fonts made in 1923 and used a version of Baskerville! AtDFF is just Comic Sans and I liked the portal 0 from last year.

Anyways. I promise that the team and I are working on the next AtDFF update. I know it's been 6 months. We have all the foreground stuff, we're just waiting on backgrounds from @anxiousdisasterlesbian, who has been working on them, albeit slowly (I love you babe, keep up the hard work!)

Some of you may have seen that I updated AYC yesterday, meaning we're finally starting the Orphan Train arc. I apologize for the delays, and I know I said it's return back in September, but yeah. College. Though now, I'm hoping I should be able to work on the comic in between classes after finishing my work since I got a new Wacom tablet. I'll still be using my Huion for at home work, but on the go, it's hard to find a place to plug both my computer and Kamvas Pro 12 in, since it needs to be plugged into both my computer, and an outlet.

For both AtDFF and AYC I've decided to upscale the proportions of the panels by 1.5, so instead of 600x450 pixels (with adjustments for some asks) it's now 900x675 pixels. This shouldn't affect much for you guys except hopefully the quality.

I'm really excited for what this new year brings, not just for the comics (though there's some good stuff coming up soon that I hope we can get to) and I hope y'all are excited to. It is my hope and plan to start posting more regularly, not just for the comics, but also in general, though I can never guarantee anything sadly. I'd also like to do more stuff for our Patreon (especially now that I have at least one patron. Thank you so much @kierangecko.) Either way, regardless of how much I post, I should always be very active on here, answering asks and stuff, as well as on the Ish Discord.

How about this

WHY are you doing this, WHAT IS THE POINT

All you are doing is making characters suffer for no reason, even if we agree with you and say “ it’s just fiction”

All that leaves is a depressing story

Read the story spider-man rain if you want to see how that story looks

Plus doesn’t the game cover what your doing is wrong

You describe your power as a child playing with their playthings

You also seem to have the mind of one considering what you decide to ignore

Peter, gonna answer why you care about the story so much

Just wanna play god like a child? 

A God earns their worship

What have you done to earn yours?

... You sure like making long, annoying asks, huh? Look, I'm not making them suffer for no reason. Call it cliché, but it is character development. What I'm trying to do it adapt a story from one of my favorite games. While I like being god, my true intentions are to tell a story. Mostly, the story of AtDFF, and without Chara going through all this here, will never come to pass.

Sure, people don't like to see Chara suffer. Neither do I, particularly. But without Chara leading a rather miserable lift, never reuniting with their brother/figuring out Steorie is their brother, and all of their friends turning on them, Chara never falls down. Chara never meets the Dreemurrs. They never meet Asriel. And while yes, it would be interesting to see that timeline, it's not the one we're following. It still exists, of course. Evident by the other alternate timelines.

I'm aware, of what I'm doing. However my plan isn't for this all to just go up in flames and end in misery. I know it sucks now, but honestly, life sucks. And that's part of my writing. With AtDFF, a lot of the planned plot points are things that impacted my life, even small things. Trust me, I know you guys don't like playing the villains, I know you want Chara to have a happy ending, and trust me, she will. However for that to happen, there must be trails. I never said you have to play along, just that if you go to drastic measures, I'll ignore and stop you. No one likes playing the villain, however I know there are some who would jump at the chance to be cruel and mean. Which is what I'm hoping for. Because I can use them for my story.

If you fight it, then all the better. The conflict will add interest. It will make it more of a struggle for Chara and a challenge for me. But please, stop trying to mess with what I'm planning. For all you know, that might just make it worse.

Even that which calls itself a god

... Bish, this has already happened and even if I fail, I can just restart again. No one said this has to be canon. In the end, your choices in this story don't matter, as they've all already been made for you.

If you want to effect anything, you need to stop living in the past, and try to do something good and worth something in the present to affect the future. Bend all you want, it doesn't matter.

And true, in reality, I have limits. There I am mere mortal like you. However here, here I am a god. Just as a child is among play things.

Unless it is necessary, i’m not killing the kid, I just know if they meet or touch, something bad will happen and currently I’m trying to stop it

I’m worried that killing the kid might be the only way to stop it with Peter around

Chara: Huh? Hey Micheal, do you understand this? Micheal: Huh? ... Well, no clue who Petra is, however I'm not sure dese askers are being very nice. Also they're not making a lick of sense. I mean for starts, brother? You don't have a brother. Chara: Yeah. Of course I don't! None of us do! We're orphans for god darn sake! Also wow, talking about killing a kid right in front of them? Micheal: If we were allowed near the phone, we'd call the cops and- H-hey! Peter, what are ya doin'!?

Peter: You listen here and you listen good, asker. I have no idea what you're trying but I am not the villain. I will not allow you to kill Chara, or deviate from the story I have planned, got it? I don't want to clean up the mess of some stupid butterfly effect. You are guest in my world, you better fricken respect me and my story telling. I understand it's not ideal, but the past here, both of us have to follow the guideline left by the game. I'm twisting it in a way I feel will be interesting and while you don't have to participate and while you're free to oppose, it'll be more interesting if some or most of you do, kindly, don't frick up my story. Cap'esh?

Chara: ... Uuuuuuh. Micheal: Peter, what in the 'ell was that?

Peter: Oh nothing, sorry about that you two! Here's your weird paper back! However just some advice, you might wanna be careful when excepting those new clippings from those odd animated folk. Anywho, bye!

Chara: ... Well that was weird.

I came from both being in the wrong, and I know that transgenderism wasn’t accepted at the time, so I didn’t go right into attack mode.

Which I appreciate. Some people are so quick to do that and I don't like it.
