helpful reminders + ways to support abortion seekers in the US right now

some thoughts/reminders based on what i’ve seen on social media today:

this decision doesn’t just impact women! it impacts anyone who has a uterus! say what you mean and mean what you say, your words have weight and meaning! (glad we could clear that up)

grieving is normal. having big, messy, unwieldy feelings is normal. taking the time to recognize and sit in those emotions is important. wanting to protest is good. wanting to change things is great. being in touch enough with your emotions to recognize that you’re experiencing trauma is just as important.

everyone processes differently. my reaction may not look like your reaction, and yours might not look like the reactions of your friends/family members. many people have jobs/situations that preclude them from taking the sort of actions they’d like to in response to this/other social injustices they’ve seen recently. hold space for those people, the people sticking it out in places where they can’t speak their minds for the sake of creating a better place for those who come after them.

the people in the U.S. didn't ask for this. CNN polled americans after the draft opinion leaked in early may, and at the time 59% of respondents said that they'd support congressional legislation codifying nationwide abortion rights. I know it's easy to make fun of the U.S. by calling us a dumpster fire or saying you're glad your country didn't do this, but know that there are real people on the other side of the globe from you who are reeling from the whiplash of swiveling their gaze between children being gunned down in their schools and the supreme court attempting to delegitimize reproductive rights. it's not a joke for them, particularly not for those who fall into multiple minority communities and will now be facing the brunt of this ruling head-on in more ways than one.

for fucks sake. donate to abortion healthcare providers. not just PP (we love them too, but the smaller ones need the most help). learn how to support yourself/your friends in the event that you need to get an abortion and don’t live in a state where it’s protected. spend time/money investing in the protection of the rights of the groups that found out halfway through the morning that they have fewer rights than family members only one generation above them. grieve with them. care for them. act just as loudly as your words and posts.

Hi everyone,

It is with utter shock and horror that I see that the United States regressed back to 50 years ago. I can't believe that a country with so much influence decided to allow states' institutions to ban or not abortion. I don't understand how fucking guns can have more rights than women at the moment.

For my female followers, from a French woman, I am deeply sorry for you and do not understand how they could deprave you from the right to own your body. It is supposed to be "our body, our choice", not the choice of men who don't give a shit about our rights.

From what I saw, for those who have an app to track your menstruation such as Flo, please, delete it right now. It is not safe to use as they could sell your information without your consent and that make be threatening one day. An alternative could be Clue, which is European and made a post where they stated their policy.

I know it's a lot to say, but I hope you will all fight and scream and demonstrate because it should not be a normal situation. It should not be right that women must travel to get an abortion and take the risk to get arrested. It should not be allowed for people to go back on laws that supported basic human rights. It is a fucking atrocious situation so make your voices loud and clear that the fight is not over. And I hope that women all around the world will support you and demonstrate as well, because we need women solidarity right now. If I am allowed to do so, I will.

I am wishing you all the best, I hope that you will be able to get out of this situation. And I hope they will not try to get rid of other rights to because what I am currently hearing is terrifying.

This entire Russian-Ukrainian conflict is a complex situation because each side is reporting different things while the American media is running in the back on fire screaming ‘WAAAAAR!’ And Americans can’t see anything but their own propaganda that has been trying to ‘predict’ the Russian invasion for a week now, failing every time. But however this entire thing goes, this is what you need to know motherfuckers:

Do not fucking go and start hating Russians. Do not fucking go and start hating Ukrainians. Do not fucking go and start hating Russians while protecting Ukrainians and vice-versa.

If it doesn’t reach your mind that normal people cannot affect what’s happening, and that the governments (Russian, Ukrainian, Republican, American) and NATO are to blame, then I am telling you this right now.

Don’t you dare fucking go and project Putin’s actions onto innocent people that live in Russia. Don’t do the same thing to Ukrainians. Normal people don’t want war, on either side.

So there’s not all that many of you following me, but I still just wanted to post real quick. I try to keep as much of my info on here private for my own comfort but this is something I’ve decided to not keep private, I can’t afford to. I’m Ukrainian, completely, almost 100% Ukrainian and although I didn’t grow up entirely in the country and haven’t been there in 5 years, it’s still a place I consider home.

If any of you haven’t seen the news in recent days, this morning Putin announced that Donetsk and Luhansk are independent regions and is officially sending troops for “peacekeeping” purposes (this is a full scale invasion, don’t let him fool you) after essentially funding a separatist civil war for the past eight years.

Most of the Western world is now imposing sanctions (which is incredibly frustrating because although I fully support these sanctions it won’t actually prevent the Kremlin from doing anything) but we still need more help.
