UPDATE: World building is the devil’s work, but I’ve made progress by writing a backstory. At the meantime, continue to reblog!
An Announcement
//I know it’s been a while since I was last here, and I’m deeply sorry for not telling anyone why I disappeared sooner. The reason? I haven’t been on Proto lately is that I don’t feel that his world is well fleshed-out, and I have given him a poor selection of clothes for someone who’s supposed to be an amateur dimension-hopper and a mercenary. As a result, I’m going to give Proto a much needed reboot.
If anyone would like to continue to rp with me, reblog this post. You can also find me on Aarbron and Styx, until then, stay golden.

Star reaches for another tool of some sort and leans back into console, before leaning back out. “Goggles…” she murmurs looking around them on the floor and snatching some goggles up when she finally found them. She carefully puts the strap over her ears and pulls it down, brushing her mane out from under the strap. She glances at him, curious, but continues her work while she listens. Star pulls the goggles down over her head and reaches for another tool and leans back into the console.
Tail tip twitching eagerly as she went about fixing the wires she’d snipped, ears swiveling back as she listened to the feline talk. Okay, so he was probably crazy, or maybe he was dehydrated and hallucinated. Either way, she had to face facts she’d probably just let a not-so-sane alien on her ship. Wonderful. She leans back out of the console and looks at him a bit skeptical to say the least. “You know that’s sounds like a bit of an odd question, aye?” she asks, a mischevious glint in her eye before she shakes her head. "You don’t have to show me. It’s fine. You should just be lucky you weren’t thrown onto my home planet.” she continues, pushing up her goggles to her forehead. “Then you’d really ‘ave been lunch.”
For a short while, Proto’s artificial eyes looked away in nervousness as he finished his answer. Admittedly, his tale was bound to sound farfetched, and no amount of sugarcoating would help. However, with some new information presented to him regarding Star’s homeworld, he had no further reason to continue dwelling in the past.
“Really?” the feline asked, the glint of curiosity sparkled in his artificial eyes. At the same time, he was relieved his main mean of travel didn’t dump him there. “Is it because of dangerous animals unlike the ones found on Earth?”

Soon enough, a ear-piercing scream erupted from the guest bedroom where the cat would stay during his visit to Acmetropolis. Without a second of delay, Proto shot up from the bed, his body drenched in sweat and his eyes enlarged with dread. Whatever the nightmare involved, it rattled the feline to the very core, but fortunately insufficient to paralyze him on the spot.
As he tried to relax, a series of knocks on his door startled him; no doubt one of the Loonatics had heard about the noise and came to investigate. Half-sleepily, the cyborg got off and pressed a small button on the side, causing the piece of metal to slide away and reveal the bat beyond it.
“Oh, Bertram!” Proto said, bringing one hand to his face to wipe away his tears. “Sorry, I’ve just had a bad dream.”

“Hey so IM BACK BUTT FACES. SO LIKE THIS FOR A STARTER.”
There was very few things that That Tech couldn’t quite do, one of these things was dimensional travel. Almost ever other piece of technology or science he could understand or build a machine for, but that piece of science was a bit out of his reach for now. So far all he had gotten to was building a machine to detect dimensional anomalies.
Tumblr media
It was this machine that had driven the coyote out into the cold night looking for what had caused such an anomaly. A scanner in hand, he trudged around in the snow looking for what he could only assume was a dimensional rip
The calico gritted his teeth as a gust of chilly wind blew over him, prompting the cat to wrap his cybernetics arms around himself in a vain attempt to keep warm. However, he was not concerned with the matter of getting dressed for the weather at the moment, and wasted no time sprinting away. The dimensional rift he came out of was noisy, no doubt anyone will come and see what is happening.
As Proto ran, he didn’t expect anyone to be coming from around the corner. resulting in him inadvertently tackling an oddly-dressed coyote to the ground.

[Bertram]:
Just then the bat noticed that the others weren’t around. This worried him, and decided to check his communicator for any activity.
He let out a breath he didn’t know he was holding back, and looked at Proto with an apologetic smile.
“Sorry buddy, they won’t be here until later.” Bertram scratched the back of his head, ears dropping. “My fault… I didn’t hear the messages Ace sent me; they were called for an interview at the media so they left while I was patrolling…”
“Relax, it’s not your fault, Bertram. I am not the kind of person to blame you or your  teammates on something as trivial as popularity.” The cat reassured, before flopping down on the couch and leaned back, still maintaining eye contact with the bat. “I think we should catch up with each other while they are away. Do you have anything to eat, like leftover pizzas?”

[Bertram]:
“The ceiling? Not this time around!” Bertram smiled as he started to descend. “Since I have been doing flying patrols more often, the guys made me a special entrance so I wouldn’t have problems getting in and out the base.”
Reaching a certain spot at the side of the building, in which there was a huge window wall showing their reflection, Bertram lifted his head so that a hidden sensor could notice a hidden device in his googles, soon enough something at the other of the glass clicked and it slid open.
The large bat got inside, and once in, the window slid closed and he allowed the cat the get off his back. “Here we are, you alright?” He lifted his googles and looked at Proto.
“Yeah, I am okay.”  Proto responded, before hopping off Bertram’s back and rolled his shoulders once to stretch himself out. The memory of the first time he arrived at the Loonatics’ tower was terrifying to the cat, and even though he had an augmentation to avoid ending up as a pancake, he would rather not fall off from a dangerous height.
The calico took off his bag and set it down on the floor near the couch, before shooting the bat a question. “Anyway Bertram, where is everyone?”

[???]:
Kyle kneeled down next to the injured feline and started rummaging through his bag. He swiftly found the small first aid kit and set it down on top of he bag. The stranger’s shirt blocked his injuries, so he had to tug off his shirt before he could get to work patching him up.
“What’s y-your name, sir? D-did you see who did t-this to you?” The snake started pressing disinfectant-laced gauze pads to each of the calico’s wounds, causing them to sting more painfully for a minute before the pain died back down.
Proto gasped, the stinging pain from the first gauze applied to one of his wounds caused him to tense up momentarily, before taking a few breathers to compose himself. It still hurts as much, but he could take comfort in the fact that the snake knows what to do when it comes to first-aid.
"Proto, my name’s...Proto.” he replied. “Yeah, a gang, about six to seven of them, all wearing masks. They jumped me while I was trying to find my way out of the alleys. I fought them and ran until I collapsed here.”

The Southern District. Hub of all low-cost living, home of the Vita City education system, and the area that Kyle lived in and always knew best. The street layout, the regulars to the pizza place, and even the most quiet areas to just sit down and relax were all familiar to the snake. Today was a much quieter day at the workplace, only a couple dozen orders were placed, a majority of which were from regulars. After an hour or so from his last delivery, the snake was dismissed by his manager to go ahead and take the rest of the day off. Grabbing his messenger bag, he waved a farewell before heading out.
On his way home, the snake noticed something different in an alley he passed by… Or rather, someone. Someone who looked not just different… They looked hurt. Without a moment of hesitation, he rushed to the seemingly injured feline, holding his messenger bag in case he needed to provide some medical attention sooner rather than later.
“Sir, a-are you okay..?”
Proto groaned, his head exhaustively craning to the voice that called out to him. He sat on the ground with his back against a wall, and his clothes appeared to have been cut at various spots by something sharp like a knife, exposing wounds that still bleed. His face wasn’t spared either, as itwas adorned with a number of bruises and a blackened right eye.
It was a miracle that this cat was still kicking, even after he went through a particularly rough beating.
“Yeah, yeah, I’m fine.” he replied, before taking a deep sigh and raising one of his hands. “Good thing they haven’t damaged these though. They are expensive.”

“Proto? Personally, I would have gone with ‘Mr. Whiskers’ or ‘Snowball’, but I commend your parents for taking the science fiction approach,” Argost chuckled,”…That’s a joke. My name is V. V. Argost. A pleasure to meet you.”
“..Your name isn’t so different from mine.” Proto shrugged with a modest smile. This man’s name sounds like it come from classic horror films, and the cat couldn’t help but to wonder where he got the inspiration from. “Anyway, nice to meet you too, Mr. Argost.”
