i know i know the only reason anything popular on booktok is mediocre white women with social media and who have money just paying to get published so there's no big conspiracy on why colleen hoover can publish the same story under a new guise every six months or fifty shades of grey but this time its reylo and a professor/undergrad relationship. but man it is bleak real literary art is harder and harder to come by now. i have to look for dead writers or spend HOURS going down a thriftbooks rabbit hole to find anything that scratches the itch of needing something heavy to chew on and even then there's maybe one person in a 100 mile radius i can discuss it with. like sure to each their own i know not everyone is gonna adore an artsy and a little derivative book but the "i read for fun not to think" crowd, how boring are you? do you lack the curiosity to question why your favorite authors write like that? never wonder what biases they bring to the table and how their views effect the narrative?
