Toph is often seen very close to Appa and Momo in ATLA. Momo in particular is seen almost exclusively on her shoulder, in her lap or cuddled up close to her after she joins the Gaang. It's such a sweet little inclusion but it means the world to me.

It's nothing extraordinarily big but the thought that Aang's closest link to the Air Nomads are so comfortable and keen on Toph makes me want to sob.

I also headcanon that Aang realizes his feelings for Toph go beyond platonic when he watches his Earthbending Master cuddled up into Appa's paw with Momo in her arms and she looks so beautiful and at peace and he has a moment of realization strike him like lightning.

i do unironically think the best artists of our generation are posting to get 20 notes and 3 reblogs btw. that fanfic with like 45 kudos is some of the best stuff ever written. those OCs you carry around have some of the richest backstories and worldbuilding someone has ever seen. please do not think that reaching only a few people when you post means your art isn't worth celebrating.

Fanfic tiktok is wild... I see so many people saying shit like "I could never read anything below 60k!!", or "What story can you even tell in under 5k words?" or "A oneshot below 10k isn't even a story!" or "I always filter completed fics by 100k< only!"

And I'm like...

A) which fandoms are you reading fics for where you have this kind of offerings on the regular?

B) have you heard of short stories? If you truly think every story NEEDS to be longform to connect with people, I sincerely feel sorry for you.

C) Average novel length is between 50k to 100k. I'm sorry, but CONSISTENTLY demanding fic writers to push out fics of that length is insane. Just think about it: YOU DEMAND AUTHORS TO PUT OUT FICS THAT COMPARE TO COMMERCIAL NOVELS IN LENGTH (AND QUALITY) AS A BASELINE.

If you were a bird what would you be? I’d love to say I’d be a crow, because I too like shiny things, hold grudges, and never forget a face, but tbh I’m probably more like a penguin.

Favorite color? Believe it or not, not orange.

Favorite rare pair? I think the worst thing I ever wrote was Wing Beifong/Yao (the half man, half tree from Avatar Wan's time). That was... something. Anyway obviously I love crack ships.

How would you hide a body? OH this is such a hard question. I live right next to a very deep, very dark, very cold body of water full of predators. I can walk to a marina and a hardware store. I lift weights. I know how to sail. How good is the marina's security? But then again, how predictable. This time of year the coyotes down the hill have puppies to feed.

The mods are delighted to announce the next Avatar WTF Weekend will run the last weekend of summer from August 30-Sept 1. As before, this delightful crack shipping event will feature three days of three prompts each, with a range of prompts designed to appeal to writers and artists both.
