“Oh my god. You’re smiling!” “No, I’m not. Fuck off.”

“What? What’s with that smile?”

Try hard not to stare at the stunning (first) smile they see blossoming on the other’s lips.

“Why did they smile at you?”

“I can’t just smile on command.”

“Remember to smile every now and then, yeah? (We don’t want you to scare them all away.)”

“You’re so bad at this.” “I don’t know what you mean.” “The corners of your mouth. They are twitching.”

“You have the most beautiful smile, you know that?”

“I can’t stop smiling.”

Think their smile is ugly and try to hide it. The other is having none of it. 

“I hate when you smile like that.”

“A smile a day keeps the doctor away.” “Yeah… I don’t think that’s how the saying goes.”

“Is that a smile I spy?” 

Take on the (almost) impossible task to not break into a smile. 

“Say cheese!”

“I just want(ed) to make you smile.”

Cover their emotions with a smile, hoping nobody will notice. The other, however, catches on (almost) immediately.

“You can’t even hide your smile. So, spill. Who is this mysterious person that makes you all giddy and insufferable?”

“Uh-oh.” “What’s wrong?” “That’s their ‘oh, you messed with the wrong bitch, bitch’ face.”

“Stop smiling.”

“A smile could go a long way.” (“Well, mine went all the way to [country] and is currently enjoying its vacation there. So, you’ll have to come up with a better plan/idea.”)

“One smile from them and they’ll be putty in their hands. Watch.”

Their fingers tenderly pull up the corners of the mouth of the other. 

“It’s almost like you don’t know how to smile.”

As soon as the other leaves, their smile drops. 

“You look like an idiot.” “You know, other people would say it’s nice to see me so happy. Or that I have a beautiful smile.”

“My face hurts.”

"That should wipe the smile off their face."

"Uh-oh. I know that smile."

“So you can smile!”

Cannot help but smile in response to the one already on the other’s lips. 

“There it is, just the smile I was looking for.”

“Your smile is a knockout, baby!” “Why are you still standing then?”

“You look like you’re going to your doom instead of to a celebration/etc. Smile, for goodness sake.”

"You know very well what that smile of yours does to me."

“You just had to smile back at them, didn’t you?” “What else was I supposed to do? Ignore them?”

Feel the other smile against their lips/skin.

“I don’t like that smile.” “Then I doubt you’ll like what’s coming next.”

List of “banter and playfights and soft moments between two idiots” prompts

“I’m sad now…” “Why?” “Sad because you wouldn’t let me bully you—” “...What?!” 

“Look at you and your short t-rex arms—” 

Character B gently poking Character A’s sides and laughing softly when Character A yelps in surprise and turns their head to playfully glare at Character B. 

Character B stroking their fingers through Character A’s hair before gently waking them from their short slumber during the drive.

“…Why do I like you?” Character A groans when Character B laughs at their own, corny jokes. “Yeah, why do you?” Character B, a soft, affectionate look in their eyes. 

Character A trying to take ownership of Character B’s bed by sprawling out their arms and legs, and Character B lying on top of them and calling them their bed. 

Bumping heads while play-fighting and apologising to each other while laughing. 

“Uh, I probably shouldn’t cover your face with the pillow—“ Character A murmurs, only to be cut off by Character B. “But why?” Character B questions. “But wh— What do you mean why? Maybe because I don’t want my boyfriend to pass away and because I don’t want to go to jail? What kind of question is that?” Character A says, staring down at Character B with a puzzled expression while Character B bursts out laughing. 

“You’re so insufferable!” Character A whines as Character B laughs, holding them closer to them.

Character B getting a clean smack of Character A’s ass due to the position Character A accidentally put themselves in and Character A trying (and failing) to get their revenge. 

“My hands are handcuffs now—”

Character B pulling Character A closer to them, trying to kiss them and Character A using that chance to tickle their weak spots. 

Character B successfully getting the kisses they’ve been wanting when Character A finally surrenders.

Character A unsuccessfully blocking Character B from tickling them, both screeching with laughter. 

“You have an advantage over me because you’re stronger—” 

Character B apologising profusely while giggling because they accidentally “hurt” Character A (Character A’s not hurt at all, but they play it up so Character B would cuddle them more.) 

Character A teasing Character B for actually remembering something they’ve told them and Character B, mock offended, asks, “So are you saying I have the memory of a rock?” 

Character A laughing and shouting for Character B to stop tickling them whenever Character B successfully gets their hands on them.

“Why are you so slippery? You keep slipping out of my grip!” “Probably because you keep making it a struggle for me to tickle you and it’s heating me up—”

“Pin me down if you want me to stop.”

A freezes. They had hoped nobody would figure out – not yet anyway – that they are in a secret relationship with B. Look natural. Act natural, they tell themselves.

Sighs. “Yeah, I’ve noticed.”

“And you? Do you like me?”

"Not you too." "What?"

“What, you gathered that from a simple ‘Hi’?”

“Maybe.” “You’re not interested?” “They just seem like they are looking for a relationship, and I’m not… I’m not ready for that. Not yet.”

“You think? How can you tell?”

“Stop pulling my leg.”

“You don’t think so?” “… Why would they/someone like them be interested in me of all people? I’m just—”

“This your way of telling me to leave you so you can ‘go on the hunt’ yourself?”

“Too bad I’m interested in someone else.” “Oh?”

Tropes I've Lived Day 1: Friends to Lovers

Take it from me. This one is sweet and fun, but it can also be incredibly frustrating. I have lived this one twice now. Our mutual trust ended up in us rushing into things with my first relationship like this. We fell into each other like we had nothing to loose and in the end we lost it all.

Currently, I feel like I am experiencing it again but this time it somehow feels more natural. We are more open and calm with eachother. The respect is there and even if we end up not dating I don't see a world where we become strangers again.

Overall though, they tend to be fairly healthy relationships. Lots of mutual Pining involved. Having the basis of a friendship before any sort of romance often leads to a deeper understanding of one another.

That being said, here are some prompts to give any writers some inspiration from someone who's experienced it:

Person A has to stay over at Person B's place unexpectedly. They end up sharing a bed out of nessecity. In the morning Person B seems to be more tender towards Person A.

Person A notices a new tenderness in their gaze and is unsure about it- but they think about the look in Person B's eyes all the time.

Cooking together all the time

Traveling multiple hours to spend the weekends together *if long distance or just a few towns away (think 2-4 hour drives).

Noticing small things that hadn't been apparent before: the way their hair falls, the nervous ticks, etc.

They are afraid to loose eachother so even though they both notice something different, neither of them say anything. Just in case it's all in their head.

Sending each other good morning and good night messages

Not wanting to leave after spending an extended period of time together

When drinking, they tend to flirt more without noticing it until later.

Making up excuses to see each other

Realizing you're thinking about them more often. The way they smile, the little breaks in character when they get flustered.

Intentionally asking to dance to be close to one another, but avoiding touching eachother in other situations to respect unspoken boundaries.

Both parties not wanting to admit to themselves that they're in love

When they do admit they are in love, it's a relief. They rush into everything.

Or, they talk about it. They talk about boundaries and what they can both expect of the other person (if anything) and where they want to go from there.

Already knowing everything about the other person so they are great at buying gifts and making them feel appreciated.

��� person a and b are looking at each other when there's that one person that annoys both of them, and then laughing. it's that SHARED LOOK and SHARED CONNECTION that makes person a quickly turn away.

⇴ person a comes out looking amazing, and person b is literally too stunned to speak. person b's hand is on their chest as if they're trying to catch their breath. person b so desperately wants to reach out and say something, until person a grabs person c's hand.

⇴ person a has been attracted to person b since they last met at a short-term location (ex. airport), so much so that all of their friends know about person b and are desperate to find them so they can shut person a up.

⇴ person a and person b both brushing hands on accident, and person a quickly yanks their hand away while person b is still spiraling because of the contact.

⇴ additionally ^ they both say "sorry!" at the same time, and person b is just like "oh my god we just brushed hands and their hands were so soft and i want to do it again poierjbhuefjniubh"

⇴ person b doing anything to make person a laugh. "you are my glorious god and i will kiss the ground you walk on," followed by person a's laugh and SMILE (person b nearly evaporates). "shut up" with a smile and PERSON B IS FOUND DEAD ON THE GROUND.

⇴ "you're adorable" "what?" "nothing."

⇴ person b is telling themselves not to get close to person a. but once they see person a right in front of them, they fold immediately. person b listens to any word person a says, regardless of "needing to avoid them." person a has person b enamoured and doesn't even know it.

⇴ person b and person a both jokingly flirt with each other, except neither of them are joking but both of them think the other person is. (idiots)

⇴ "i can't keep myself away from them. i think they have some magnetic force that pulls me into them" – person a/b. "i think that's called attraction and, call me crazy here, but i think you're in love with them." – person c, who is fed up.

⇴ one night stand between person a and person b, whom were both drunk at the time. person b is in the middle of regretting everything and feeling like SHIT and gently admiring a the morning after because they're aware that nothing will be the same after this and this might even be the last time they will talk.

This is just irl me not gonna lie. I'm told I'm attractive OFTEN by strangers but then I actually talk to people and the moment is absolutely ruined.

"objectively physically attractive but in possession of negative rizz" is one of my favorite character concepts. i think it's so great when there's an absurdly hot person who's just a complete fucking loser. the mood is unsalvageable the moment they open their mouth kind of deal. you get no bitches because you're so sucks.

Touch Starved Prompts

It was strange to touch each other without one of them dying, but maybe touch was also something for the living.

Like magnets they moved together, pressing into each other's warmth.

There always needed to be a reason, an excuse for their bodies to touch.

Being touch-starved and needy was really starting to mess with their reputation as a tough guy.

It was like their skin was calling out for the other's gentle touch.

They didn't like to be touched by just anyone. But that didn't mean they didn't also crave it sometimes.

A coldness took over their body that only the warmth of another person could erase.

They wanted to be touched, to be missed, to be loved. Was that too much to ask for?

Leaning onto each other, just being close, was enough.

Their bodies fitting together like they always were intended to become one.
