"You haven't seen a tennis ball or anything similar roll by here by any chance... have you?" Axel asked after jogging up to the other. "I got a little hasty with my throw and now even my dog can't find the ball to fetch it."

"That's exactly the visual I had myself," he chuckled in response. "I'd be lying if I didn't admit to being relieved by that to a degree," Axel admitted with another laugh when she assured him not to worry.
"Probably not." She agreed, but she didn't seem to mind all that much. "And a spray bottle? You make me sound like a cat who is doing something they shouldn't." Cecilia laughed and shook her head slightly. "But don't worry. I think I'll start to feel sick before I can get the amount of sugar down me needed for that."

"Alright, no need to go analyzing me and dreading me for filth like that," he huffed, not actually offended but definitely feeling a little targeted by her somewhat accurate theories. "I mean we hang out plenty but I guess we could do more songwriting sessions together. I'm sure it could help me from blocking myself creatively, especially since Mase is always so encouraging."
"Is that really the truth or is it that you have less confidence in your abilities than he does. That or you're significantly more harsh on yourself and are a perfectionist." Which wouldn't have been out of the realms of possibility given their family. "Writing a song isn't just about the words though. It's about putting the emotions into the melody and the harmonies as well. Why do you not sit down and work it out together more?" She asked, setting down cups.

"And make a total fool out of myself? Probably better not," Axel replied with a sheepish laugh. "It's flattering but I'm gonna pass on it today."
"Well why don't you go up and talk to them?" Al suggested, "They could want something other than a selfie."

"You're certainly not helping your case," he teased with a light laugh when Cecilia said that maybe she could be Tasmanian Devil-like on too much sugar. "I'd rather not witness that but at least I'll know if I should carry a spray bottle with water for next time or something," Axel joked.
"Good, I should hope not." Cecilia spoke in an almost chastising tone though a smile followed it. "I suppose he really doesn't need the sugar to be high energy, you're right. But have you ever seen me 'hopped up' on sugar? Who knows what I'm like. It might be like handling the Tasmanian Devil." She joked lightly, though these days she was far more subdued. There had been a time when she had a far more bubbly nature but it'd been drained from her almost over the years.

"Thanks Luce. I've just probably not had enough water. If it persists I'll probably take you up on that though," he replied, always appreciative of the way she looked out for him. Sometimes he felt bad though, not wanting to worry her any more than necessary. "I've been trying to write more of my own stuff. I'm not as naturally gifted at it as Mason is. I guess I'm just not the best at articulating my feelings with a string of words that sounds impressive enough, you know?"
"I have some potions for headaches if you would like to get one. You know where everything is by now." He'd been there often enough after all. "No one causing you any stress at the moment are they? Or is it that you've been spending too many hours looking at notation or up until silly o'clock."

"Me?" Axel not so subtly twisted around to look at who the man was most likely referring to. "Maybe they recognize me from the band? Wouldn't be the first time," he faced Alastair once again. "They probably just want a selfie or something."
"Hold on, they are totally staring at you," Alastair said, grinning as he interrupted what the other was saying, "They're like just behind you to your right. Definitely into you."

"I see," Axel nodded in understanding. Despite all of the things that had caused a rift in between them, he did really want Rowan and his bandmates to continue to have a thriving career. Of course it was something their fanbase wanted as well. "I look forward to seeing what you guys come up with. I'm sure everyone's got a fresh perspective to bring to the table– it'll make for some interesting work I'm sure."
"Nothing set in stone... just thoughts... talks." Rowan explained lightly, wondering if the other showed so much interest because he would be relieved to get rid of him. It seemed plausible given how much his presence had seemed to unsettle Axel since they had returned. "We have all been writing." He knew he'd done quite a bit. "So far though, we're trying to choose which ones to put to the label. Maybe see which ones fit to make a cohesive album."

"That does sound delicious actually," Axel acknowledged. "No, I know you're not," he then assured with a chuckle. "I was just curious about the flavor profile is all." When Cecilia pointed out that he should be used to high energy like that he couldn't help but snort, "I suppose you're right. But it's also Mason. He's always going to be in his own category above the rest for me."
"It's raspberry actually which I love more. It's a little more tart than strawberry." Cecilia explained, raising an eyebrow at Axel. "You do realise I'm not about to poison you right but you're looking at it like it's a bomb about to explode in your hands." The brunette pointed out with a laugh. "You should be used to that kind of behaviour given who you live with. If you can handle mason, you will be fine."

"Jam in the middle? Is it strawberry?" he wondered, looking to the cupcake curiously when Cecilia had handed it to him. To be fair it was not like he was picky, he'd eat pretty much any flavor handed to him. "How many now? You're going to be hopped up on sugar the whole night," Axel pointed out with a chuckle.
"Look, you need to try this one. The jam in the middle of the cupcake is honestly to die for." Cecilia spoke as she handed over one of the cakes she had in her hand. "Let's pretend I haven't had enough to feed a family of them so far, okay?"

"I'm not a Grinch and I've not necessarily got qualms with the holiday," he insisted with a little roll of his eyes. "I just... well like look at the finger sandwiches for example. Do they really have to be cut into the shapes of little hearts? It just means we get less of the sandwich that way– and they're already pretty small."
"Oof" Tori let out once the other was done, "If I didn't know any better I would say someone really isn't a fan with Valentines day and is being a bit of a Grinch." Tori point out, picking up one of the heart shaped strawberries and popping it in her mouth. "It's a gimmick, all Holiday's come with them. It's how capitalists make all their money because they know we will buy into a seasonal theme because we see it as a limited time offer." Tori commented with a shrug.

"Just because they can... doesn't always mean it's a good idea," Axel commented as he looked at the array of choices at the refreshments table. "Like I get it's on theme and it's cute or whatever but... does really everything have to be pink and red and heartshaped?"

"Oh yeah! I've definitely seem some of those on TikTok," he nodded in recognition. "I wouldn't dare attempt it myself either. It'd be a huge waste of wrapping paper," Axel added. "Probably better off sticking to using magic as help."
"Have you seen those wrapping videos where they teach you how to wrap those really obscure shaped ones. It looks so cool, but I don't even dare to attempt it, they seem so hard to follow along to."

"Tour, hmm?" that seemed to grab his attention more than most of their conversation had thus far. Perhaps because it was something that was big as an artist, but also from a fan standpoint he was interested. "That's exciting stuff. Does that mean you guys have a lot of new material? Or will it mainly be the older stuff?"
Rowan shook his head a little. "Usual stuff really. I have to see what everyone elses plans are. Maybe we'll go back on tour." He didn't really know though a part of him hoped for it. It was easier to forget about things or pretend everything was okay if he wasn't back here he was finding. The more time he spent back home, the more of a struggle it became and he was scared of what that would mean for him.

"I didn't realize complaining was that important to you," he chuckled in response. "Are you going to get any of the fun flavors? I might try the gingerbread hot chocolate because it sounds cozy and I'm still holding onto the wintery vibes I guess."
"A Cece-sicle, is it?" Cecilia laughed softly at that, glad for the others friendship. She wasn't sure what she would have done without it all these months. "I imagine i'll be fine, as much as I complain. Me not complaining is like you not having Mason; it's just not right." The brunette joked lightly.

"Uh yeah, I suppose I am," he nodded. Axel certainly was a lot more tense being in a conversation with Rowan at the moment, but overall it had been a good night. "That's good," he nodded. "Different? Yeah, I guess that's what happens with time," he replied in a softer tone. A lot had changed in so many aspects of both of their lives. "Any big plans for the new year?"
"Well, I'm glad you're getting to enjoy yourself. You are enjoying yourself aren't you?" Rowan asked, not sure whether he was just assuming things here but it seemed impossible to say the right thing to Axel these days, much as he tried. "Ah... yeah? It's a good evening. It's been a while since I've taken part. Things were different last time I was here so..."
