Meet my friend, Pastor Ty Juan Card. He has planted and is pastoring New Life of Nashville. They meet Sundays at 9am at 411 Hume Street in Germantown (the same room @theaxischurch started in!). Pray for him and his church. He's a man I respect and appreciate deeply. We are friends--and I'm honored to be able to say that. He and I have open and frank conversations about Jesus, Nashville, family, and race. I'm helped by this man. He's a faithful daddy and husband. I am glad that we are able to work together for the Kingdom of God in Nashville! I believe that our days of partnership in the gospel will only increase and become more fruitful as we are much better together than separate. Pastor Ty Juan--love you brother! 10 1/2 months of fighting the drift physically. Pursuing health and fitness physically is now a priority for me -- yet it is only helpful in this single, short lifetime. However pursuing health and fitness spiritually is helpful both in this single, short lifetime AND in the profound life to come. Don't understand what all is going on with racism in America? Confused? Angry? Join me on a learning journey to educate ourselves here. Learning is key to understanding. As a white man I don't believe I can truly understand without digging into the historical soul of the black man--but I believe that as I do this, there will be much more empathy, grace, patience, sympathy, and compassion freely given and quickly extended. Join me on a journey to move past the "I don't get it"--and move towards the "I think I'm understanding it." To be clear--I believe three things will help us all here: (1) the gospel of Jesus Christ [read Ephesians 1-3] (2) reading, studying, and educating ourselves on the history and backgrounds of those we don't understand (3) intentionally engage, befriend, and eat meals with those of different color and culture than you. Please don't pushback and post--rather--pushback and pray. Thank you. I'm very hopeful!! I hope you are too! This is exciting!
