Big reason i use wordpress tbh, the backend for managing those sorts of internals. Anyway yeh. Say hello somewhere if you want lol. Idk what people do with these.

Comparison of Bongspider, a human socialized crown, and a homeworlder speaking.

Homeworlder crowns use less eye movement in expressing, opting for a rich set of vocal cues and tones.

Bongspider adopted jaw and lip movements to visually supplement his speaking despite all of his human speech being produced in his throat. This is analogous to a human performing continuous, confusing arm and hand gestures as they spoke.

Note, crowns produce meaningful sound with their jaws and ventral skeleton in addition to their airways.

Still though, it fucking sucks. Here's to hoping if they gut tumblr they'll pass it on to some new victim instead of axing it entirely.

Weekly post number 'um. How long has it been.'

Prolly gonna stop titling them, you know how it is, you have no concept of time either.

Hmmm, am back in university. Very tired, but having a much better time than last year. I dissected bees yesterday :]

Am in a big transitional period with my art, I think. Really starting to understand and pick apart what stops me from making progress. Unfortunately a lot of the solutions are things that will take a lot of time to even try out.

I now have a couch for my desk! Now I can stand, sit, and lie down depending on what helps me work that day. A standing desk has truly been my best purchasing decision ever.

I don't have much to show, here are some lecture doodles.

Also did some modelling, but it was real technical and well was just an optimised version of something I'd already done. Might show up someday.

Oh yeah, definitely need to give Artifexian a rewatch. Currently browsing wikipedia for earth examples.

Good news, the crater can be caused by a way smaller thing hitting it- the *shockwaves* cause the crater- its more like a drop of waters ripples than dropping a marble on the beach it seems. Suuuuper cool. But. Inversely it seems the impact point is actually *higher* than the rest because of exactly what happens when you watch a drop go into water and it springs back up to fill the gap. I think thats what happens there at least.

So the giant ice spot is probably actually a giant ice ring actually, if it works at all. Also cool! The depth to do that is more so the problem... Looking at the chicxulub crater (aka the one that killed the dinos almost, 10 km in diameter) the lowest point of the crater seems to only be half the actual object... So in order to get the 100 km deep that afai can tell would definitely start to become ice, assuming earth pressure, the object would have to be at least 200 km in diameter. (Edit nah that doesnt work... can find hardly any depth measurements but none even pass 10 km deep... The sea floor would have to already be super low to even get a bit more depth... darn.) But thats such a huge difference I bet it would work different at that scale... And if the chicxulub crater is almost 200 km in diameter then this theoretical object would make a crater of 4000 km. But that's a wildly different amount of mass hitting it. Not sure if that would make it bigger or smaller. But I think that works out to the width it would have to be? So that's nice.

Oops, that's a lot of text. I'm probably going to realise half of this is wrong as I try and find more craters with measurements. Woo!

So the past few days I've been working on the world map again and I. Welll I've run into a problem. A big problem

And ummm. errr. I never really considered something important. How big the thing hitting it is.

That box you might be able to see is 'another planet'. In order to fit the size of the crater it has to be. fucking. huge. Like possibly ten times the size huge. However the fact things squash i assume the crater wouldn't be perfectly round so it would maybe be wierd and flat.

However either way this is so. So much. How is gravity affected? Tectonically a lot of time is implied to have passed so what would even happen then.

However i like the idea of enormous deep crater because as sloppily modelled in the second pic, i had an idea. Marianas trench is what, 10 km deep? Imagine the depth of this thing being even 1% of the planets diameter (its a bit smaller than earth) and therefore. Imagine the insane pressure.

And therefore what is at the bottom.

I need to show this to some reddit nerds for them to tell me 100 reasons this wouldn't work and is completely ridiculous

Anyway that's cool and all. but it gets cooler. or maybe hotter. Since the crater is coincidentally on the bright side of this tidally locked system (Its a moon so it still has day and night but largely only one side gets most of the sunlight) and the way the seasons on it work is that it has an elliptical orbit that gets further and closer to the sun every 'year'.... What if the difference in sunlight and heat... melts the giant ice spot every year. causing a seasonal tide system where its real high in summer and low in winter. oh yeah. think about it. seaside towns at water level in summer and high on cliffs in winter.... seasonal islands and paths... ooouuurgghhh....

Though it wouldn't actually work I'm pretty sure. Because the pressure would make it stay ice anyway. BUT. Its reasonable sounding enough right? You'd believe it and think I understand science if I put this in my worldbuilding right. You also think plausible seasonal ice spot tide is more important than full realism. Yes you do.

Anyway probably the bigger problem is that I've envisioned the like, lowland of the crater being a flat, wet jungle that has a delta on one point of it. And ummm. Errr. I dont think the edge of the crater is flat. Not at this scale at all.

I was having trouble visualising this from an individual perspective though. What would it look like to actually be on the crater? How would the curvature work? So of course I used the finest tech to envision this.

(Hey can we talk about how before its time GA was and how cool and good it still looks it still looks good and its so cool)

Honestly not sure what to do with any of this. I'm at least going to have to rethink the edge a lot.... And I already drew it too...

Seems the jungle is going to have to be way steeper and maybe have no delta. (Giant waterfall also cool) Not sure how the drop would work. Like would the atmosphere be denser. Or would it even out. or something. Lots to think about and learn be dunked on by nerds for being wrong about (fun).

Weekly Post #4?

Apparently we were on #3 last time. Oops! And I used to think I didn't have ADHD. Baffling.

Soooo, what did I do. Mostly Blender! Mostly Blender.

I already had an eye rig, but I really wanted to future proof it for editing it, and well, quite frankly, I didn't understand how I made it and so did it all over again in a much, much better way. The eyes actually point in the right place now! It still requires some drivers and manual fiddling, but it's so much useable!

I want to set it up so that the blink also squishes the eyes a bit, for additional cartoony. I'd love to make a tutorial on how to do all this... add it to the list of theoretical vids I'll never do.

Ah, the mouth. I'm shocked how good it works? Course, the big problem is 'how does it behave with the boolean attached' but I'm not going to think about that right now because booleans are scary and seem to function different every time I set them up.

After that I. Heehee. wanted to see how, and how well, I could use the first model I made to make the models of my other characters. It's not bad! I need to really rethink the whole process with this in mind, but I'm stoked that this works at all.

Nothing like 3d to put this in perspective. You could fit like 5 of her in her.

So now with all that I'm working on making a completely modular generic model, with various body shapes, head shapes, etc. that I can mix and match! It's utterly paramount to do all this very carefully so things can share animations and such. Blender is such a nice program. Except for shape keys! Except for shape keys.

Also hello new followers! I'm really bad at remembering to post things even though I want to, so I do these for the stuff I forget, which is 90% of it. Look at my silly little models :]
