(source to where I got this map from) This is, as far as I am aware, a historically accurate map of this part of the world in 1888. The mistake regarding Ireland was amended in the anime... but nothing else was? Poland still exists in Kuroshitsuji's 1889*, and Germany's border is different as well.

Considering the mistake regarding Ireland was fixed but nothing else was in the anime I'm now starting to wonder if this is intentional and she fixed what she wanted to fix... Huh.

So this could be a mistake made in the manga. To be fair this was early on when there were more of those... It could also be intentional, though. Either way, I noticed this map shown in chapter 38 in the beginning of the Book of Murder Arc with an interesting detail. I'm posting it twice, because I wanted to make certain the map was the same in both English and Japanese.

In terms of real-world events this process didn't get set in motion politically until December 14th, 1918 in Ireland's general election... and I found it interesting that such a historic date took place on the twin's birthday. The Irish Free State wasn't officially established however, until 1922. It's entirely possible that this detail was a simple mistake because in the anime, they did change it to just "Ireland," as it technically should be in terms of historical accuracy. Sorry for the quality, but you can tell it's just "Ireland."

However, I find myself musing over this and wondering if the manga had it right the first time... and those who worked on the anime only assumed it was an error and made an adjustment. If it was intentionally done, it would mean The Irish Free State or "Southern Ireland," has established independence already. Perhaps some historical events are happening out of order or have been altered, it's not as though Yana hasn't played around a bit with historical events in the manga before... However, if Ireland managed to accomplish this during the reign of Queen Victoria ...that paints a rather interesting picture. I am inclined to believe Ireland had much more support and allied forces in such a case. Make of this information what you will, I just find it interesting/amusing while I was poking around and rereading older chapters. I realize it's possible she needed a map and simply copied one that wasn't old enough and it was an unfortunate mistake. But it is kind of funny and fun to think about, regardless!

I'm going to be honest I was completely sold the second I saw the intro. I think it's perfect. They understood the assignment and know how to be unsettling, melancholic, creepy and weren't shy on the blood, death, and other imagery and relevant references despite the style change. By the time the outro came I was already dead. Goodbye. It may be an anime outro and technically outside of canon but there's that signature sunrise between those two. Again.

Something I've been working on for an embarrassingly long time. Can I just say I came for the artwork, but stayed for the music... I am extremely in love with every track and glimpse of the music and want to send this man flowers. There was nothing inherently wrong with the music in prior seasons... but damn he compliments the vibes so well, I am so beyond impressed.

I've been working on something kuro-related for a while... Currently frustrated with this WIP, and having a silent war with myself over what is more appropriate for a finishing touch, primroses or lilies. ... ? It's very close to being finished though, which is nice... I did manage to read the recent chapter though... (spoilers below)

Of course, Snake's death is crushing and yet in a way, I'm relieved that he will forever be known as "Snake" by the fandom... that is good to know, as far as the story is concerned... that "Nick-names" and personal identity, doesn't matter one bit, to the Reaper's Book-keeping. " 'Real' name not recorded." Hmm, interesting. And cold, but I figured as much. Would, "X Kemble" have been any better... Nah. I don't think so. That doesn't suit him at all. All of the people closest to him in life called him Snake, that's how he'll be remembered.

Hi there! Sorry if this is too much to ask, I was wondering how you were able to get your account restored? It's happened to me TWICE and I don't even know what I'm doing wrong... Tumblr didn't send me an email, or anything.

The same thing happened to me. I'm not trying to be accusatory, but there are petty and shitty people who wrongfully mark blogs as spam en masse, and when a blog is suspected of being a bot... after that, all it takes is liking too many posts at once, or messing with the mass post editor, or really doing anything that generates "high activity" for their spam-software to automatically terminate your account. I'm serious. One moment I was scrolling and then all of the sudden I got the "your account has been terminated" Screen. What I suggest you do, is at first to follow the normal protocol. Take a ticket and contact staff, explain you never got an email explaining why your account was terminated. You're supposed to get one, they have to give you an explanation for it unless you're suspected of being a spam account. Wait at least a full week, baring in mind their business hours and that weekends no one is working. If you hear nothing in that amount of time, contact them again from a different email, sending screencaps of your first message, the url of your account and your original email, detailing that you think you've been wrongfully marked as a bot. When your account is wrongfully marked and terminated for being a bot, the email associated with that tumblr account gets send to tumblr's spambox. They can not see your complaint, and they have to unmark it as spam. After that, keep a watchful eye on your first email, because they have to reply to that one, they have to know for certain you still have access to the email associated with the account-in-question. I know people think they're being galaxy-brained geniuses... but tumblr pays attention to people who misuse the report system to try to bother users they don't like. 💙 😁

Pardon, for the delayed response... Sometimes, I'm not confident about what to say when people add interesting things to my posts or write their own thoughts on something I brought up. Other than, thank you, you said a lot of thought-provoking things... on this topic that I have a difficult time trying to put into words. (I hope it's not going to bother you for reblogging this, but I sincerely don't think anyone's going to ...go out of their way, to bother you for writing this?) Also that I agree with a lot of what you've said... and I think the identity-topic, 'What's in a name?', 'Children are not their parent's tools', 'I did it for me!'... are definitely are going to be harmonized, when it comes to Our!Ciel/"Ciel" in a very clear way, before the end... and I do think that maybe a part of him did hope, the people in his life wouldn't necessarily...remember him, this way? As he is now? I do think a part of him after deciding to pretend he was the one who died, did want who he was prior to the contract, to be remembered a certain way by people who knew him... But obviously, that's no longer an option. You're right, now everyone sees him for who he is and what he was capable of and everything he accomplished, with clear eyes. I'm sort-of mortified, it took me a moment to realize what exactly you were referencing in that last bit... but if you mean the potential Fenian Brotherhood tie... Yes. Absolutely... "Children are not their parents tools" would be excellent foreshadowing, if that had anything to do with what lead up to "that day." Even if Vincent felt entirely justified, and felt like he was doing the right thing by getting involved in something like that... it wasn't fair of him, to put it on either of his children's shoulders and play double-agent. To go as far as to put a namesake on one of his kids... connected to that... It's unfortunate, I have such a hard time explaining how what I think concerning that would ties into literally absolutely everything concerning this manga... but this did help a fair bit.

Let me preface this before I start... by saying I am sorry there's multiple parts to this, to begin with. This happens to me often. This site hates me (for good reason), if I post more then three paragraphs (without hitting the character limit mind you) it'll get fussy. I have exceeded the character limit this time, regardless and am forced to break it up, either way. Also...I would hate to attract too much attention which is why I am replying here, in my own post and not to your blog directly. Forgive me if I tagged the wrong blog... The initial post that sparked this, came from said blog and we are talking about the source, and nothing personal or identity related so I felt it would be the more appropriate choice. I'm sorry if this entire thing is actually nothing. In truth I don't know what compelled me to write this. You've been ...thorough, in many of your findings. Specifically surrounding political themes and the nature of the Phantomhives, what happened there, etc...

With that out of the way... I think... that people who hate the written source but love other plot-lines (anime only) content miss... this... crucial point, and theme. Truly, I think people often believe they like immense complexity in characters. In reality most people prefer simple ones or else, the easiest version of the character that they can possibly digest. It's a problem with anime fans and manga readers, alike... they think "character growth" means "the character is becoming a better person" and that it doesn't also often mean, "the character is developing into something (but watch out)." When a character "grows" in a way people don't like... I've seen people describe the resulting character being "all over the place," when they simply missed foreshadowing, were unable to decipher context clues, or misunderstood the overall theming of the story and where it was going, all along. What happened after the reveal was truly something to behold, because the plot isn't always linear. Therefore the audience didn't comprehend just how much character growth and development had truly been made. When it was revealed, instead of being appreciated it was cast aside immediately by many... There's still (I suspect) much left to be revealed in even-more flashbacks, so if people hate those they need to get over it...
