Wow okay so Port Wine Tasting Day. I could write so much about this, but I’ll try to be brief. I went to three wineries and tasted 9 ports today in the span of three hours. For those who don’t know Port and how small I am, that’s kind of a lot of drinking. I was preeeetty tipsy by the end of the afternoon. So first I went to Croft, got a short tour of the cellars and got to try a 5 year old ruby, a rosé, and a 10 year old tawny. Next up was Offley, who had the most informative tour of the day. I learned SO. MUCH. about the port making process, what makes ports into different classifications, etc. It was amazing. Their tasting selection was a white medium dry classic, a tawny classic, and a ruby reserve. Oh man the ruby was so good. Last of the day brought me to Taylor’s! Another tour, and three more ports: chip port dry, LBV Ruby 2008 (bottled 2014), and a 10 year tawny blend. They were all excellent, port is amazing, but if I had to choose a general favorite I would say the rubies.

Walking tour in the rain! Surprisingly not horrible, and I met some lovely ladies and we got lunch at this wonderful and cheap restaurant! That food there is salty fried cod in an onion sauce, covered in chips, like actual American style potato chips, not the British style fries I was expecting when I ordered.

There are a ton of great viewpoints in Lisbon, but my favorite was Castelo de São Jorge. It's an ancient Moorish castle on a hill in the middle of the city, and it's beautiful and has peacocks!!!

Lisbon! These are some general shots of the city. Lisbon is pretty run down, and damaged or abandoned buildings are fairly common, but it definitely has a kind of charm. A lot of buildings have this gorgeous tiling you can see in the second picture. I was told that all the tiles are hand painted before they put them up.

This is a crazy cool garden area next to Plaza de España called Parque de María Louisa. I loved all the tiling that was everywhere. Absolutely beautiful and very relaxing.
