Not sure if I’m thinking wrong or unsure if it’s from the novel/manga, which written/visual version does it mention Gerald Stuart almost killed a man with his sword or magic (I believe there were two intruders in a mansion unsure which specific location) assuming they harmed Katarina as well Maria? I’m sort of behind on reading the J-novel but I’ll try to catch up.

Hamefura LN11 Extra Story Translation (Part 5) (Final)
Tumblr media
I have started translating the extra story which comes with the special edition of volume 11 of the Hamefura light novel.
I posted some notes about it a while ago.
This part is the final Jeffrey's POV part.
Previous parts: Part 1    Part 2    Part 3 Part4
~The Story of the 4 Stuart Brothers~ (Part 5)
Jeffrey’s POV
While walking alone in a hidden passageway inside the castle that only royals and a handful of people knew about, I, Jeffrey Stuart, was in very high spirits.
Because no eyes were on me, I was humming a song while lightly skipping.
Before long, I finally reached my destination and then knocked on the wall as a signal. After a little while,
Ian: Come in.
I got this short reply.
After getting it, I softly slid the wall in front of me and went inside the room.
The room was about as large as mine with mostly the same furniture and furnishings except they were arranged grandly. It very much reflected the personality of its occupant.
My little brother was sitting up straight at his neatly ordered desk. I called out to him.
Jeffrey: Hi, Ian. How are you doing?
Ian: There's not much change on my side.
…replied my first little brother, Ian.
It sounded a bit curt, but this was how Ian normally was.
Unlike me who was said to be exceedingly amiable, Ian had a slightly limited register of facial expressions.
However, it didn't mean he had a limited register of emotions. When he was happy, the corners of his mouth would go softly upward, and when he was sad, his eyebrows would go a little downward. It was oh, so cute.
Jeffrey: I see, then I am glad. Anyway, can we talk a little?
After I had said this, Ian sighed and closed the open book on his desk,
Ian: You'll still talk even if I say no, right? I'll listen, so make it short.
…he said.
Jeffrey: Okay, I'll try.
I started telling Ian about the happy exchanges I had with my little twin brothers over the last few days. Until a little while ago, I had been most worried about them since they mostly didn't talk to each other and Alan even seemed to hate Geordo.
And these boys had just recently started to have conversations with each other normally.
On top of this, the two of them had told me "Thank you for worrying about me!"
If I had to describe my feelings at that time, I was so happy that I thought I might have ascended to the heavens.
While I was excitedly telling the story, Ian was quietly listening, as always.
When Ian was born, when my little twin brothers were born, I, Jeffrey Stuart, had been so taken by their adorableness that I had vowed to protect them as their big brother.
But after that, my little brother Alan fell severely ill, which resulted in my mother constantly attending to him. In addition to this, the royal palace was also in chaos because the former king had died without designating an heir.
Following these events, we brothers were left in the care of our servants and got all scattered.
Because I was still young at the time, I couldn't do anything about this situation. I couldn't do anything but worry about my little brothers.
Our parents weren't the kind of people who had no love for their children, but this period seemed to have been really difficult.
They did their very best just not to let any dangerous-minded people near us.
Eventually, our father was enthroned, and we went from being royals to becoming princes and heirs to the throne.
Now sitting on the throne, our father purged the corrupted royal palace, and our mother helped him as queen. The two of them seemed to be considerably busy.
And while we were out of reach of our parents like this, the people who curried favor to us, scattered siblings, had created factions before I had known it.
Then I was set up for some kind of succession struggle that I had absolutely no desire to participate in.
As a result, even though we were born of the same father and mother, we all grew up separately and got thrust into a fight for the throne.
When I was little, I couldn't oppose the faction as they took extensive care of me, but as I grew older, I gradually became able to handle them.
I also became able to lose the escort following me everywhere.
Then I was finally able to go where my scattered little brothers were.
Geordo had grown up into an unchildish child with icy eyes.
When he was just tiny, he was extending his hand towards me with sparkling eyes, and laughing with a wide smile. He was a child brimming with so much curiosity… but there was no trace of this left.
Because our mother had constantly been attending to the terribly sickly Alan, Geordo had grown up with mostly no motherly contact, or rather no family contact. Because of this, Geordo was mocked as "The Forgotten Prince" and he had lost interest in other people.
He looked at me like he would a stranger, and even though we had hardly met each other, it made me sad.
Despite being eight years old, his fake smile was flawless. He already was like a noble walking through high society.
He seemed uninterested in childish games, and no matter what I would ask him, he would give me extremely adultlike and mundane answers. This pained me terribly.
Even when, one way or another, I showed concern for what he wanted to do among other things, his responses didn't change.
As for Alan, his eyes were the polar opposite of Geordo's as they were retaining violent emotions. He always looked irritated and in pain.
I knew right away that Geordo was the cause of this.
The imbeciles who wanted to kick Alan out of the fight for the throne were spreading contemptuous rumors comparing him to Geordo, and Alan had been taking them seriously.
"These rumors are just slander spread by the people who want to kick you out of the competition."
No matter how many times I told Alan these words, he obstinately refused to listen and kept intensely overreacting to Geordo.
Even though both lived in the same castle, they could barely look at each other.
I wanted to do something about it and thus tried to get my point across, but in the end, I couldn't do anything and rather got him to hate me as well.
And then, Ian. To be honest, I felt the most nervous while going to Ian's place.
Because Ian and I had been set up as rivals by our completely formed factions, I had been worried about him possibly seeing me as an enemy.
But the day I first took the hidden passageway to visit Ian's place, he readily let me in his room after I had stated my name.
Ian: It has been a while. Have you been well?
…he said.
I was so happy that I shouted "Ian~!" and hugged him.
But he pulled me off him right away, looking annoyed.
Then, since Ian was way more friendly than I thought, I asked him if he found me unpleasant now that I was said to be his rival.
Ian: It's just what people around are saying. I didn't know how you were feeling about me, but looking at you, it seems like you don't see me as an enemy.
It seemed like Ian had also been wondering whether I saw him as an enemy. With this situation, it couldn't be helped.
Jeffrey: Far from it, I've always been worried about you!
When I honestly said this, Ian made a relieved face, and…
Ian: Is that so? So you haven't changed since that time, long ago, when you enthusiastically said you would protect us.
…He said.
Jeffrey: Ian, you remember!
Ian was still two or so at that time, so I was surprised. Ian quickly told me this.
Ian: I don't remember the time just after my birth but I clearly remember things starting from a little while after.  Along with how you were profusely doting on me.
Jeffrey: …Ian, you're amazing.
I was deeply moved by my younger brother's wonderful ability.
However, Ian quietly shook his head.
Ian: It's just that I have a fairly good memory. I'm poor at guessing people's feelings. So until you came to visit me like this, I had no idea how you were feeling about me.
After saying this, Ian told me little by little about what had happened while we were separated.
About how he had been trying at first to somehow have contact with me and our brothers.
About how he had no success with it, how he thought he might be able to do something if he gained more power, and then made great efforts to that end.
These didn't seem like pleasant days in any way but… Ian seemed to have been blessed with both a wonderful memory and wonderful people around him, and despite having slightly limited facial expressions, he seemed to have grown up into a straightforward person.
Even regarding the succession to the throne, he wasn't like me, reluctantly studying because the people around him forced him, but he was making efforts of his own because he wanted to be of help to the people of the country.
My little brother was so wonderful!
In that case, maybe I should just throw away my succession to the throne, but… I already knew that filthy and nasty people would then approach him for political power.
On the surface, I would pretend to compete with Ian and draw the filthy people towards me, thus pulling them away from Ian and my other little brothers.
It originally was something I had thought about before, but after talking with Ian, I decided that I would absolutely do this.
Of course, I would make sure that the serious and straightforward Ian wouldn't find out. After all, if he did, he would probably get worried and oppose it.
We decided not to act too intimate on the outside because of our formed factions and to meet like this behind the scenes from time to time.
Then, later on, all while checking up on Geordo and Alan, I kept sneaking into the castle's hidden passageways to secretly interact with Ian.
Most of the time, I would complain because I was so frustrated over not being able to do anything for Geordo's empty eyes and Alan's stubbornness, and Ian would quietly listen to me. But today was different.
The situation had started to completely change from around the time I heard that Geordo had gotten engaged, a little while ago.
Geordo's eyes had regained their twinkle, and soon after, Alan had also calmed down.
They seemed to have changed through the interactions they had with their fiancées.
I get it, little bros. Girls before your big brother, right? I felt a bit lonely, but it meant that you had become more adult.
One day, when I would meet them, I would express my gratitude to their fiancées.
Then, with them back to their original selves, the twins had come to interact even at the castle.
I was so, so, happy to see them this way that I called out to them without thinking. And then each of them…
Geordo / Alan: Thank you for worrying about me.
They told me this!
Aaah, there was nothing happier than this.
I could talk about this for hours! When I passionately told Ian this…
Ian: Sure. I've heard that part three times already, so that will be enough. I'm fairly busy myself so let's call it a day.
After saying this, Ian cut the conversation short and pressed me to go back through the hidden passageways.
Jeffrey: Uuuh… But I still want to talk…
After I had mumbled this, Ian…
Ian: For the rest, have Lady Susanna listen to it.
…he said, mentioning the name of my fiancée.
Susanna knew about my love for my little brothers, so I could indeed talk to her, but…
Jeffrey: Rather than listening to me, Susanna will completely ignore what I say and read a magic book the whole time.
Susanna Randall, to whom I got engaged a few years ago, was beautiful and extraordinarily brilliant, but… She was a magic nerd who basically didn't care about anything but her magic research. She was quite a peculiar girl.
The first time I had met her, she had declared to me, "I have no interest but magic research." To this day, it was still a nice memory.
Ian: …You seem intimate.
Following my story, Ian said this.
Huh? What part of my story made him think that we were intimate? It was the big question.
Then I felt like he was a bit jealous, so…
Jeffrey: Ian, how are things between you and Lady Selena?
About six months before Geordo and Alan's engagements, Ian got engaged to a girl from a ducal family called Selena Berg.
I hadn't met her but I had heard that the Bergs was a fair and upstanding family.
As their daughter, she must be a proper girl, but… Come to think of it, I hadn't heard anything from Ian about his fiancée.
Ian: What do you mean, "How are things between us"?
Ian's face had become stiff. I said,
Jeffrey: Well, I haven't really heard anything from you about your fiancée, so I was wondering if you were getting along.
After I had replied with this,
Ian: …We are interacting to some extent. Just, I don't know what to talk about with her.
Ian slightly lowered his eyebrows.
This was his troubled face.
Jeffrey: Ian, you're not particularly bad at making conversations, right? You can have conversations with anyone without trouble.
Ian usually was the one listening to my talking, but it didn't mean that he, himself, was bad at talking.
Because he was a prince shouldering the expectations of everyone, he could skillfully talk and adapt the topic to each of his interlocutors.
Ian: …It might be the case, but in front of Selena, I can't seem to know what to talk about.
After he had said this, Ian's cheeks had become slightly red.
Oooh, this is…! I can't believe it, the straight-laced Ian is in love!
And for the one he loves to be his fiancée, this is truly a joyful thing.
Jeffrey: Ooh! So this is how it is! Ian, you're finally… I'm so happy for you.
It seemed like my little brothers were steadily growing up, which made me happy. Though, I also felt a bit lonely…
When I ruffled Ian's head, he got away, looking displeased.
Jeffrey: And so, Lady Selena, what kind of girl is she?
I was curious about the one Ian loved, so I tried to lean close and ask about her, but Ian looked even more bashful, and…
Ian: Isn't that enough? Get out.
After saying this with an even redder face, he pushed me to the hidden passageway.
Still, when he closed the door, he muttered in a very low voice,
Ian: …Selena is incredibly cute.
…he said but I couldn't catch it.
Aaah, Ian was just too cute!
I wanted someone to hear about it. No, I wanted to talk about it. I wouldn't be able to endure not talking about it.
After that, I finally did as Ian had suggested and went to Susanna's. I passionately talked about how my little brothers were wonderful and cute.
As I had expected, Susanna mostly didn't listen and just read a book on magic, but even so, since I could somewhat talk, I felt lighter.
In this way, Susanna, who paid no attention to my talking that I couldn't have with others, was important to me.
To be able to get good fiancées like them for political engagements, I thought we brothers really were so lucky.

Hamefura Movie Special Episode 1 (Novel) Translation
Tumblr media
I Created a New Piece of Culture…
Author: Yamaguchi Satoru
I, Katarina Claes, was, since morning, happily working in the fields of the Claes house, when…
Geordo: Katarina, what are you doing?
Geordo, who had just arrived, called out to me like this.
Katarina: What I'm doing? I'm harvesting vegetables.
After I had cheerfully replied this, for some reason, Geordo put a hand on his forehead.
Geordo: No, I can tell this just by looking… Weren't we supposed to head to the Multaq caravan's tents today? And yet, why are you currently harvesting vegetables?
Katarina: Yes. I'm thinking of bringing my vegetables as a present to the caravan people, so I'm harvesting them.
Geordo: Bringing your vegetables… as a present?
Katarina: Yes, because freshly harvested vegetables are delicious.
I said this with a grin and next to me, Keith, who for some reason was making a tired face, said…
Keith: This morning, upon waking up, she seemed to have suddenly hit upon this idea, so she eagerly started harvesting vegetables like this.
…he said as if to add to what I said.
A while had passed since the arrival of the Mutlaq merchant caravan and the incident. With most of the reparations completed, I asked the caravan if we could watch their wonderful show again, and they agreed. So with everyone, we had planned to head to the caravan's tents together once we had all gathered at the Claes' house. I had prepared sweets to bring as a present, but in the morning, after I had woken up and looked at the garden bathed in beautiful weather, I could see my vegetables had ripened, so I had thought they would make the perfect gift and decided to harvest and bring them.
Good, they were perfectly ripe.  As I was grinning while looking at my freshly harvested vegetables,
Alan: Why the heck are you harvesting vegetables right now?
After saying mostly the same thing as his older brother, Alan arrived. Next to him, there was Mary, whom he was escorting.
Katarina: I will bring them as a present to the caravan people.
After giving him the same explanation I had given Geordo,
Alan: But a duke's daughter of Sorcier giving them vegetables, this is just weird. They will think things about it.
…he said while laughing.
Katarina: But there may be vegetables they can't eat in Mutlaq, and more than anything, my vegetables are delicious, so it should be fine.
After I had replied this, Mary backed me up.
Mary: I agree. They mentioned that cultivating crops on Mutlaq's land was difficult in many ways and that they only had a few types of vegetables, so I think vegetables would actually make for a fine present.
Oooh, I see. I didn't know that at all. But after hearing Mary's statement, Keith and Geordo, who had previously looked reluctant, now seemed to think that it could work. Thank goodness.
Keith: But handing them vegetables like that is just…
After Keith had said this, Geordo also…
Geordo: I agree. Handing them vegetables like that lacks charm.
…he said. Hmm. It was true that normally handing them a basket might lack charm as a present. In that case,
Katarina: Please wait a bit.
After saying this, I grasped the basket containing the vegetables and returned to my room. There was a wrapping paper there that I had set aside thinking I might use it one day, so I cutely wrapped the basket with it. When I brought back my proud achievement to show it to everyone, the Ascart siblings, Sophia and Nicol, had just arrived.
Katarina: I'm thinking of bringing this as a present, what do you think?
I showed the wrapped present to the two of them. They couldn't see the content since it was enveloped in wrapping paper, so…
Sophia: What is it?
Sophia tilted her head. I told her "Just open it.", so Sophia said "In that case…" and carefully unwrapped the present.
Sophia: Eh?! Vegetables!
She was shocked.
Katarina: So? What do you think? Simply giving vegetables in a basket lacks charm so I tried wrapping them!
When I said this a little triumphantly,
Keith: In that case, just handling the vegetables in a basket would have been better.
Geordo: I agree. Their reaction when unwrapping the present and finding the vegetables inside will be awkward to deal with.
I got a "no" from Keith and Geordo. Alan just laughed like earlier, so I turned my gaze to the reliable Mary.
Mary: Well, this may indeed bewilder them a little.
I made her show a troubled face. And I thought it was a good piece of work.
Sophia: But the wrapping itself was cute.
Sophia tried to make me feel better, and Nicol too,
Nicol: It reminded me of the vegetable bouquet you gave me before.
…he said.
Katarina: A vegetable bouquet?! It might be a good idea.
The vegetable bouquet that I had given Nicol at his graduation ceremony in place of a flower bouquet. It had looked quite nice.
It hadn't included a gorgeous lineup of seasonal vegetables, but right now, I felt like I could make a good vegetable bouquet.
I tried rolling the previously used wrapping paper around the vegetables to make a vegetable bouquet.
The result didn't look so pretty since I made it quickly, but I felt like it would look great if I did it with more care.
Katarina: How about like this? Doesn't it look better compared to earlier?
After I had said this while triumphantly holding out the vegetable bouquet, everyone said things like "Better than the wrapping earlier", "Better than the wrapped thing", and "Better than the thing that we can't tell what it is because it is wrapped". And finally, Maria, who had arrived last,
Maria: It reminds me of the graduation ceremony. It is lovely.
…she said, so my vegetable bouquet safely got a passing mark as a present to the caravan. And like this, my vegetable present which had stirred a little commotion, the vegetable bouquet, was safely offered to the Multaq caravan and…
?: Sorcier sure has a unique culture
?: A major power really has a culture unique to a major power.
They said these in admiration and accepted the vegetable bouquet as part of Sorcier's culture.
Keith: Why did you allow Big Sister's nonsense? It was because I had seen the complete wrapping beforehand that I felt like it could pass.
Geordo: Mutlaq ended up thinking that Sorcier had a strange culture. What should I do as a royal of Sorcier…
Keith and Geordo held their heads, overwhelmed by the situation, and the others were looking at something in the distance.
And like this, I created a new piece of culture in Sorcier: the vegetable bouquet.

Extra Story 1
Extra Story 2
Aaqil's POV
Aaqil is currently at the royal castle because he was summoned by the King for work. He feels depressed and unwell there.
Aaqil is a royal of Multaq. He is still a royal even if his father, the King, only considers him as his tool, and his mother, a concubine, only considers him as a tool to curry favor with the King. And since his parents completely neglect him, his half-siblings, who are jealous of his power, treat him cruelly.
Aaqil doesn't belong in the royal palace but he has a place he can call home. He always wishes he could return to that place whenever he is in his room in the royal palace. He doesn't want to rest in this spacious room with expensive furniture, but in his narrow bed where his friend is right next to him and he can hear him sleeptalking and snoring. He feels way more at ease there compared to this excessively quiet room where he can't calm down.
Aaqil feels lonely because he won't be able to return to the caravan until he finishes his work. He looks out of the window in the direction of the caravan, and then a falcon flies towards him.
Aaqil: Ah, you've come.
The falcon stops by the window and leans his head forward. Aaqil pets his head as usual.
This falcon is his partner. He usually takes him with him during short missions, but it seemed like it would take long this time, so he left him at the caravan. The falcon sometimes comes to show his face.
There is a paper tied to the falcon's leg. It contains encouraging words from the caravan people. After reading them, Aaqil's chest becomes warm. He feels like he will be able to sleep in this quiet room after all.
Aaqil: Please take it to them.
Aaqil has written "Thank you, I am okay." on a piece of paper and tied it to his partner's leg.
Aaqil: I'll work hard so I can return fast.
Hearing this, the falcon swirls and then flies in the direction of the caravan.
Aaqil watches his figure flying away until he can't see him anymore. Then, he goes to bed and falls asleep while holding the letter to his chest. He dreams of the first time he was invited to the caravan. It might have been because he strongly wished he could return there or because he received a letter from them.
On that day, the caravan people received him and talked to him like it was natural, and even invited him to share their meal. His chest became warm for the first time in his life. It was also the first time he played with someone his age. He didn't know any games, so Qumiit taught him many of them. Alqus dragged him to go on an exploration. Everything in front of his eyes felt new, so he got excited and couldn't help enjoying himself. And when he returned completely exhausted, the adult welcomed him with a smile and told him "Welcome home", which made him incredibly happy.
After experiencing this warmth in his chest, this enjoyment, and this happiness, he didn't feel the need to endure staying in his empty room anymore. He sneaked away and spent time at the caravan. He would also go with them whenever they moved to other places for business.
The first time Aaqil sneaked away, he felt anxious over possibly getting blamed for not being in his room, but his position as a completely neglected prince proved to be helpful. As long as he could receive the King's summon notices, no one would say anything. Rather, it seemed like the servants enjoyed using the funds sent to the absent prince. It was the first time he felt that being neglected was a good thing.
Luckily for Aaqil, the King likes to adhere to formalities. Summons require time, so he has never been told to come right away but only 2 or 3 days later. That's why, even if he is in a faraway place with the caravan, he can use his ability to ask his animal friends to take him to the castle, and once his several-day mission is over, he can return to the caravan the same way. He has done this for several years.
The mission this time has been dragging on. If it were like always, it would have ended in several days, but this time, it has been dragging on for several weeks. Aaqil wants to return to the caravan so badly.
The King uses his ability to control animals to have the country under his thumb. He uses animals to monitor people, threaten them, and make them do as he says. Aaqil is mostly given this kind of job. The King asks him to monitor nobles to pick up signs of betrayal. Sometimes, he also asks him to threaten people. Aaqil can't oppose the King, so he reluctantly performs this dirty work.
This time, Aaqil has been asked to watch a merchant committing tax fraud. But after watching him, Aaqil realizes that he is actually a kind merchant who gives goods for free to the poor. He isn't doing tax fraud, he just doesn't get earnings on the goods he gives for free. The merchant isn't doing anything bad, on the contrary, he is a good person.
But when Aaqil reports the actions of the merchant:
King: The rule is to pay the country a portion of the sales earnings. He gave away the goods for free of his own accord, so he is at fault for not paying tax for these. Notify him so he pays.
Aaqil is shocked by the King's answer. The King is only thinking of profits and has no consideration for poor people. Aaqil thinks the merchant would be a more suitable king, but since he can't oppose the King, he doesn't say anything and complies.
When Aaqil notifies the merchant, the latter replies that he has no money since he gave away his goods. The King doesn't accept this answer and asks the merchant to get the money from the people to whom he gave his goods or to raise money in some way or another. But the merchant doesn't have a prospering business, so Aaqil has to threaten him, which breaks his heart. At last, the merchant is able to raise money. After paying it to the country, he stops his activity.
Now that the issue is over:
King (cold gaze): It took you long this time. Next time, finish faster.
The King leaves.
Aaqil sighs and returns to his room. He meets his mother on the way.
Mother: Make sure to serve His Majesty well.
Aaqil enters his room and crashes into his bed. The mission this time was long and its content terrible, so it exhausted him both in body and mind.
Aaqil takes out the letter from the caravan people and reads it.
Aaqil: Let's go back home quickly.
Aaqil gets up from his bed and starts preparing his things for his trip back. He changes from his uncomfortable formal clothes to his usual clothes, ties a little luggage on him, asks one of his fast animal friends to take him back, and gallops to the caravan.
Once the caravan is in sight, his sinking mood improves at once.
Aaqil thanks his animal friend, dashes towards the tent, and barges in.
Caravan Leader: Oooh, Aaqil, you're back. Welcome home.
Qumiit: Ah, welcome back, Aaqil.
Alqus?: Welcome back Aaqil, thanks for the hard work.
Nashiit? Haati?: Welcome back.
Everyone has welcomed him with a smile. Aaqil feels like crying.
Qumiit's POV
Qumiit sighs while thinking of his best friend who hasn't been back for a while.
It has been several weeks since Aaqil has been summoned for a job. Usually, it would take several days, but this time it seems to be taking so long.
Qumiit imagines that Aaqil must be depressed at the moment. After all, Aaqil hates to be summoned to the castle. He won't say a word about it, but whenever he receives the notice, he always looks so down. Then he leaves with a reluctant and gloomy face and everyone sees him off while feeling sad for him.
The caravan people don't know what kind of work Aaqil is made to do. Aaqil won't talk about it at all. Though, Qumiit can imagine. After all, the caravan people are also monitored.
The King of Multaq will absolutely not tolerate anyone opposing him or not paying their tribute to the country. Because of this, he uses people who have the ability to control animals to have them watch nobles, merchants, and citizens, and especially threaten them. It is something normal in Mutlaq.
As someone who possesses the ability to control animals, Aaqil is probably forced into doing this kind of job. But Aaqil is a kind person. He doesn't control animals, but asks them to fulfill his request. He also hates quarrels. He won't assert his will, so he mostly doesn't fight with people. It must be very painful for him to make his animal friends not only monitor people but also threaten them.
Qumiit is frustrated that he doesn't have the power to save Aaqil from this situation. He wants to save him so badly but he can't do anything. Aaqil is finally able to laugh now but whenever he returns to the castle, he has the same expression he had the first time he met him.
Qumiit still clearly remembers the first time Aaqil came to the caravan. Aaqil was a shy child hiding behind the caravan leader's back. He was wearing fine clothes, had a pretty face, and looked like a rich kid. Qumiit first wondered why a rich kid would come here. After interacting with him a little, Qumiit noticed that Aaqil had no emotion in his face or his words, he was just like a doll. Qumiit guessed that Aaqil hadn't had a happy life so far.
Just after his first visit, Aaqil wouldn't cry nor make a scene even if he got hurt, so Qumiit asked him this.
Qumiit: Why won't you say anything even when you're hurt?
Aaqil (expressionless): What would you do if I did?
Qumiit (surprised): What would I do...?
Qumiit realized that Aaqil didn't have anyone worrying about him or thinking about him. As for Qumiit, ever since he remembered, the adults of the caravan had been here for him, and whenever he got hurt, they would worry about him and take care of him. This was how he had been living. He always had someone who worried about him whenever he got hurt.
Qumiit looked at Aaqil wiping his wound himself with an expressionless face.
Qumiit: Whenever you are injured, I'll worry about whether it hurts or whether you're in pain! So tell me when you are injured!
Qumiit had said this in a scolding way. Aaqil made a surprised face. It was the first expression Aaqil made.
After that, Aaqil gradually showed more expression as he spent more time at the caravan.
When Aaqil just started coming, he mostly had no common sense. Whenever Qumiit taught him something, Aaqil would make an amazed face. In return, Aaqil carefully taught him reading, writing, calculations, and other difficult things like the words of other countries. They taught each other what the other didn't know and before long, Qumiit was able to see Aaqil smile and they had completely become best friends.
When they did, Qumiit finally learned about Aaqil's background. Aaqil spoke honestly about it while fearing it might change their relationship. But it didn't. It might have if Qumiit had just met him, but he now considered him as his friend. No matter his social status or whatever ability he possessed, everyone considered Aaqil as a friend and family and that would never change.
Even so, Aaqil was bound by his social status, position, and ability. He was making his precious ones do horrible things without anything in return. It ate at his heart. Whenever Aaqil returned from the castle, he always looked pale and sometimes he would stay in bed for a while. The things he was forced into doing must have been that hard.
Aaqil gets so affected when working for a few days, so Qumitt is seriously worried about him working for weeks this time. There is no one caring about Aaqil at the castle. He can't help worrying whether Aaqil eats and sleeps properly.
He is so worried that he and the others wrote Aaqil a letter. Aaqil has replied that he is "okay" but Qumitt doubts he is since Aaqil tends to ignore his limits.
Qumiit wishes Aaqil would return soon. Then, Qumiit would cook for Aaqil all the things he likes.
A few days later, Aaqil finally comes back home.
Aaqil: ...I'm back.
Aaqil is pale and promptly falls into a deep sleep in his bed. Qumiit guesses that Aaqil couldn't get sufficient sleep at the castle. Aaqil usually wakes up when someone moves close to him, but this time he won't wake up at all.
Aaqil makes a relaxed face while sleeping. Qumiit strokes his face just a little.
Qumiit: If I only I could help you even a little...
Qumiit can't free Aaqil from his painful job or help him. He feels so sad and helpless that he feels like crying.

Hamefura LN 13 Chapter 1 Summary
I am currently reading Hamefura LN13 and will post summaries after each chapter.
Though, I don't work too much on the phrasing so it may seem a bit messy.
Chapter 1: The Foreign Study
A Dream Of The Past
Monkey Girl is troubled because she has sprained her ankle while practicing tree climbing alone in the mountain. The day is sinking.
She had a good reason to practice tree climbing alone.
Monkey Girl gets along well with her eldest brother despite their age difference. He is kind to her.
Monkey Girl's second older brother is several years older than her. They have often been treated as a set. He has always done things before her. He is better at tree climbing than her and he makes fun of her because of it. She has practiced hard so she can get better than him and make fun of him instead, but she has never succeeded.
Monkey Girl feels scared about being stranded in the mountains at night and calls her family in desperation.
Her second older brother appears. Their mother has asked him to search for her since she was late.
Monkey Girl tells him she has sprained her ankle. She asks him to get an adult. But it will be night by the time he comes back with someone, so her brother suggests carrying her on his back. Monkey Girl hesitates since he doesn't seem so sturdy, but her brother assures her he will be fine since he is strong.
Her brother goes down the mountain while carrying her on his back. Monkey Girl is both jealous and impressed by her brother.
Upon arriving home, Monkey Girl tells her mother she has sprained her ankle. Her mother is freaked out by it, and even more when she sees the bleeding on the brother's legs. The brother shrugs it off but the mother urges him to disinfect his wounds. Monkey Girl can't believe her brother carried her with these wounds.
Monkey Girl wonders if he got hurt because he couldn't go down the mountain the same way as usual while carrying her on his back.
Monkey Girl's mother is angry that they have played some dangerous game together. Monkey Girl is surprised to hear that since her mother is supposed to be the one who asked the brother to search for her. She wasn't: the brother went in search of her by himself, since she hadn't come back after it had gotten dark. He said their mother had asked him because he couldn't be honest about it.
Even though her brother is mean to her, Monkey Girl also knows that he is very kind. She thanks him in her heart.
Dark Magic Lesson With Raphael
Katarina is woken up from her dream by Anne. She must get ready to go to work.
Katarina is having her dark magic lesson with Raphael. She has become good at sucking darkness with her dark magic.
Katarina is discouraged since she can't make progress with anything except sucking darkness. She can only summon a ball of darkness the size of a mandarine while other people can use large-scale spells, like filling a room with darkness, or create a dark space. She feels like she has no talent for dark magic, or even magic in general. Raphael doesn't agree.
Katarina feels like there is no real application of her sucking darkness at this level, and she is afraid she might betray the expectation of the ministry's board. Raphael tells her that sucking darkness is amazing in itself and that it must be her strong suit. Even if two persons have the same magic attribute and the same magic power, they won't use magic the same way. Each person has different suitabilities when it comes to magic. Sucking darkness is probably Katarina's strong suit while summoning darkness must be her weak suit. Katarina has always had limited magic, so she didn't know each person used their magic in different ways. Raphael adds that if she continues to put effort into what she is bad at, she should be able to do things little by little. Katarina feels cheered up by Raphael.
Raphael chuckles while looking at Katarina. Katarina is puzzled. Raphael explains that sucking darkness actually suits her perfectly because she is a like "a sun that makes darkness disappear". Because Raphael has delivered a capture target's line so naturally with a dazzling smile, Katarina blushes.
Katarina remembers that Raphael was a hidden capture target himself. In addition to being a pretty boy, he is also kind, a good listener, someone who can soothe people's hearts, and someone who can deliver killer lines like this with a smile. Katarina feels like, if Raphael was serious, there would be no woman who could resist him.
Katarina and Raphael resume the lesson.
Lunch Time
After the lesson, Katarina heads alone to the dining hall. There are several places serving food in the ministry, including a classy café, but Katarina prefers the dining hall since there are plentiful menus.
Sora calls out to her a the dining hall. Katarina gets absorbed while looking at him, remembering that he, Cyrus, and Dewey are capture targets that may lead her to her doom, but in spite of this, she is good friends with them. Sora brings her to reality. She panics, wondering if she said something about Fortune Lover 2. She hurriedly pretends that she is hesitating to take a large serving of steak. Sora disapproves of this choice since she got a stomach ache last time. Katarina tries to convince him she will be fine this time, but Sora doesn't believe it. In the end, she listens to him and takes a normal serving.
Katarina's steak is delicious. Maria joins them for lunch. Unlike Katarina's meat-full dishes, Maria has picked vegetables and fruit-based dishes.
Maria asks Katarina if they will work on deciphering their respective covenant together this afternoon as usual. Katarina says yes.
Katarina poinders about their covenant deciphering work. Maria still remembers the ancient script they have studied at the academy, so she can progress fast and she has reached a point where she can use the spell contained in the Light covenant. Unlike Maria, Katarina is advancing at a turtle's place and she is still stuck in the warnings and instructions section.
She was convinced before that dark magic was something bad, but she has changed her mind ever since her senpai told her that there are multiple perspectives to things and that dark magic can be considered magic that can save people, for example, to erase painful memories. She has felt motivated by her dark magic study ever since, and she feels grateful to her senpai.
Katarina has a stomach ache after lunch. She feels like she shouldn't have taken another serving of desserts. Sora sighs since he warned her. Katarina feels like it is indeed 100% her fault and apologizes to Maria and Sora for always causing trouble to them. Maria gently tells her not to worry, Sora curtly asks her to be careful next time. By the end of break time, Katarina's stomach got better. Sora asks Maria not to give Katarina any sweets and then leaves.

Afternoon Work
Katarina and Maria start deciphering their own covenants.
Katarina really has a hard time deciphering the Dark Covenant. To begin with, she is bad at studying and memorizing stuff. She is especially hopeless with foreign-related things and ancient scripts. Deciphering the covenant is definitely a hurdle for her. She really wonders how OG!Katarina could decipher it and use the spells in it. Someone can't possibly have taught her since the covenant is made in a way that only the contractor can read it. Maybe OG!Katarina used a trick? If she did, Katarina wished she could use it too.
Walking To the Carriage Gate With Sora
It is the end of the day. Katarina and Maria return to their respective department. As usual, Katarina's senpais are busy with work, and even when Katarina asks if they need help, they gently tell her that they can take care of their own work and that she can go home. Katarina walks to the carriage gate with Sora. Sora curtly asks her if her stomach is okay. Katarina says it got better after a while and thanks Sora for his concern. Sora seriously asks her to be careful so that it won't happen again.
While Katarina gets a mother vibe from Keith, she gets a big brother vibe from Sora. Then she remembers her dream from this morning and it dawns on her. Sora speaks in the same curt and yet worried way as her older brother, which is why he feels like a big brother to her. Sora's vibes are similar to her older brother's. But unlike her older brother, Sora has a pretty and sexy face.
Sora is puzzled since Katarina is staring at him. Katarina explains to him that she realizes once again that he has a pretty face, without mentioning that she compared his face to her brother's. She tells him that since he is handsome, kind, and good at taking care of others, it is no wonder that the female ministry employees are crazy about him. Whenever they are walking together, Katarina can see the employee's sparkling eyes on them. She also hears rumors about him. Since Sora is aware of his charm, Katarina expects him to joke about it, but instead, he seriously asks her if she thinks the same thing. Since Sora is not acting as expected, Katarina wonders if he may have lost confidence in himself, so she confidently asserts that she finds him lovely. In response to this, Sora takes Katarina's chin and asks her if it means she is okay with him doing this. Then he moves his face right in front of her face. While Katarina is frozen out of shock, Sora moves his face closer, and... bursts out laughing. Sora tells Katarina that she is too naive and full of openings and that he can understand why the prince would worry. Katarina retorts that she isn't that way with just anyone. Instead of retorting something, Sora just happily ruffles her hair. Katarina is frustrated to be given the child treatment, and poutingly mumbles that Sora was too sexy while joking. Hearing this, Sora whispers that it wasn't a joke, but Katarina doesn't hear it.
They have reached the carriage. While waving goodbye, Katarina notices that Sora's face looks a bit red, probably because of the sunset. Once the carriage has departed, Katarina dozes off until she reaches home.
Geordo's Visit
Once home, Katarina is notified by her servant that she has a visitor. Katarina wonders who it can be at this hour. The servant replies that it is Geordo. While Geordo often comes over without an appointment, it is rare for him to come at this hour. He usually comes over on her day off. Except for that one time, when a troublesome noble had his eyes on him and he was watched every day. Katarina wonders if he is also in some kind of trouble this time and hastens her pace.
When she enters the parlor, Geordo tells her "Welcome Home". Taken aback, Katarina reflexively replies "I am home". Geordo chuckles about their exchange just now because it feels like they have become family. Hearing this, Katarina wonders if Geordo possibly wanted them to become siblings. In her past life, she wished she had an older sister since she only had older brothers. Geordo only has brothers, so maybe he wants an older sister? Looking at Katarina's puzzled face, Geordo can tell Katarina didn't understand what he meant and chuckles. He clarifies that this exchange made him feel like they had become a married couple. Hearing the words "married couple", Katarina remembers that at this rate, they will indeed end up becoming a married couple. Katarina gets flustered and her face turns red. Looking at her, Geordo chuckles again. While laughing, Geordo looks similar to Sora earlier, so Katarina asks him if he is making fun of her. Geordo is taken by surprise and covers his face with his hand. He tells her that he is not making fun of her and also flusteredly asks her not to make such a cute face. Katarina is puzzled. She can't see his face since he is covering it with his hand, but Geordo's ears are a bit red.
Geordo recovers his composure after a little while. He has expressly come to tell her that the Prince of Ethenell will come to Sorcier in several weeks for his foreign study. Katarina is confused as she doesn't understand why he would go out of his way to tell her that. Sorcier is a wealthy and developed country, so it isn't unusual for foreign nobles to go there for their foreign study. Geordo is surprised by Katarina's reaction and asks her if she has forgotten about the Prince of Ethenell. Katarina finally remembers about Cezar. Looking at her, Geordo figures she has remembered about him and mutters in his breath that he would have preferred she forgot about him for her whole life. Geordo has a dark expression on his face, so Katarina doesn't pry further.
Katarina remembers Cezar, how they met at the International Assembly, how he helped her at Ocean Harbor Town during the kidnapping incident, and how she discovered later on that he was one of the hidden capture targets. She has always wondered how Maria and him could develop their relationship in the game, but it makes sense if he came over for his foreign study. Cezar coming over must be part of the game plot. Katarina gets depressed about it but she is still glad to know it in advance. Still, she doesn't understand why Geordo would be troubled by it. After all, Cezar seems like a good person.
Geordo explains that Cezar will come over not only to study Sorcier's technology but also to search for a potential fiancée. Ethenell seems to want to forge solid ties with Sorcier.
Sorcier is a wealthy and developed country, so there are a lot of foreigners who want to marry Sorcier people. But Sorcier people usually don't want to move out of the country so it is their spouse that would move in.
Katarina remembers that Ethenell is still unsafe and would feel sorry if the fiancée was forced to move there. Geordo reassures her: Sorcier has required that the chosen fiancée give her consent and Ethenell has agreed not to force the potential fiancée into marriage. Katarina thinks there's no problem in that case. Sorcier would normally refuse this kind of deal with unsafe countries like Lesabre and Ethenell, but since Ethenell has become safer after the enthronement of the current king, and the current king seems like a reliable person, Sorcier has accepted this time.
The translation of the following scene is available here.
-------------------
Katarina asks Geordo if there is some kind of problem with Cezar coming over to search for a fiancée. Geordo hesitates and finally asks Katarina about her relationship with Cezar. Katarina is not sure she can openly say that she is friends with a foreign prince, so she simply replies that he is a slight acquaintance. Geordo is surprised by her answer since he imagined them to be more intimate after seeing them together at the International Assembly. That's why he was panicked when he learned that Cezar would come to Sorcier to search for a potential fiancée. But now that he has heard Katarina's answer, he feels relieved. Katarina is still confused, so Geordo explains that he doesn't think Cezar will approach her since she is engaged, but he might if they are intimate. Katarina finally realizes that Geordo is implying Cezar might be interested in her. Katarina confidently asserts that there is no way Cezar would see her as a romantic interest since she has no charm. Geordo is annoyed by her words and assures her that she has a charm that fascinates people. After all, there is one person charmed by her right in front of her. Geordo is right in front of her face, gazing at her. Katarina realizes what Geordo means and blushes. Geordo continues. He is terribly attracted to her and fears the Prince of Ethenell might end up like him one day. Katarina gets more and more flustered and retorts that Geordo is just a maniac. Geordo is puzzled since he doesn't know the word. Katarina explains that it means he has weird tastes. After all, people would normally choose a cuter and more proper girl, like Maria. Geordo assures her that he is normal and that he finds her cute. Katarina is highly flustered. Geordo makes a satisfied smile and draws closer for a kiss.
Keith suddenly barges into the room and pulls Katarina away from Geordo. Geordo is annoyed at the interference and asks Keith why he is home so early. Keith was supposed to attend a party. Keith replies that he excused himself since he had work to finish. Geordo and Keith go on a banter until it is time for Geordo to return home. Before leaving, Geordo asks Katarina to avoid going near the castle while the Prince of Ethenell is here for his foreign study.
---------------------------
Discussion with Keith
After Geordo has left, Keith asks Katarina if Geordo has really done nothing to her. Katarina assures him that Geordo didn't. He might have kissed her but Keith arrived just before it happened. Keith lectures Katarina about why she shouldn't stay alone with a man behind closed doors. Katarina thinks to herself that Keith may look like a sexy young man outside, but on the inside, he is like a mom.
After his lecture, Keith asks Katarina why Geordo came at such a late hour. Katarina replies that Geordo wanted to inform her that Cezar will come over to Sorcier for his foreign study. She tells Keith everything Geordo told her. Keith is also worried about the Prince of Ethenell coming to Sorcier to search for a fiancée. Katarina tells Keith that Geordo has said the exact same thing. Keith seems to hate the thought of being similar to Geordo. Keith explains he is just concerned since Katarina unconsciously seduces people. Katarina blurts out she can't unconsciously seduce people since it is what a heroine does. Keith is puzzled over the word "heroine". Katarina panics over blurting out about Fortune Lover 2 and pretends she is referring to the heroine of a romance novel. After all, a prince is supposed to fall in love with a cute and lovely girl. Keith doesn't understand Katarina's reasoning and bashfully tells her that both he and Geordo have been awfully seduced by her. Katarina remembers that Keith has also confessed his love to her, and then blushes. Katarina retorts that both he and Geordo have weird tastes because people would normally prefer cute girls. Keith blushingly tells her she is cute. Keith has said the same thing as Geordo but didn't say it suavely like he did. Instead, Keith is bright red, which has spread to Katarina who is also bright red. Katarina feels like she would reach her "love endurance" limit if Keith moved his face close to hers as Geordo did. Luckily for her, Keith doesn't, and they both return to their own rooms together, their faces still red. Before parting, the still-red Keith asks Katarina not to approach the Prince of Ethenell, and to notify him if something happens. Katarina feels like both Geordo and Keith worry too much. It is not because they have weird tastes that everyone has.
End of the day
Katarina returns to her room, gets changed, and lies on her bed. She still has Geordo and Keith's words on her mind. But she can't afford to be confused about love since she has to think about what to do regarding Cezar. She sighs in frustration over her peaceful future being still far away.

Hamefura Movie Novel Chapter 1 Summary
I am currently reading the light of the novel of the upcoming Hamefura movie and will write summaries as I read.
________________________
Chapter 1: The Foreign Merchant Caravan
Katarina Is in the Royal Castle
Katarina is currently walking in the royal castle's garden. She is in high spirits because she has finally graduated from the Academy of Magic.
Today, Geordo has invited Katarina for tea, and she has come alone since Keith had to set out for work with their father this morning. Katarina feels sad that she, Keith, and her friends will start going their own ways. She is also feeling nervous about working at the Ministry of Magic. It will be her first working experience (if she doesn't count her part-time jobs in her past life), and it happens to be at the most prestigious organization in the country.
Pochi Runs Off
Pochi has come out of her shadow and is looking at her. Katarina scolds him for coming out of his own. Pochi suddenly dashes somewhere. Katarina chases after him.
Katarina arrives in a gloomy place on the outskirts of the castle. She has lost sight of Pochi. She sees an opened door and guesses that Pochi must have gone through it. There is a "No Trespassing" sign at the door. She enters nevertheless while hoping that it will be okay as long as she doesn't stay for long.
Inside, there are a lot of dusty art pieces like vases, paintings, and statues. Katarina finally finds Pochi and scolds him for running away. Then she sees a little creature behind Pochi. She asks it where it comes from, and it replies "Piyo". She takes the little bird with her.
Taking the Tea at Geordo's Place
Geordo is puzzled about why a bird would be in the room storing the royal family's art pieces. Mary wonders if it might not be a bird kept in the royal castle's garden since it seems used to people. Alan doesn't think so since he hasn't heard anything like it. Sophia thinks it might be a bird that came from the outside, and Nicol agrees. Maria wonders what species it is. Keith doesn't recognize the species either and wonders if it might be a new species of birds. Katarina asks Geordo if he has any idea about the species of the bird.
Geordo: Well, I wonder… It is indeed intriguing, but what I find most curious is why everyone is here even though you're the only one I have invited for tea.
Katarina is surprised. Since everyone was here when she arrived, she was convinced that he had invited everyone.
Mary happily tells Geordo that she won't let him steal a march on her. The others add that they have also wanted to have tea with Katarina. Geordo is displeased.
Keith scolds Katarina for entering an off-limits place without permission.
Since Katarina doesn't know where to return the bird, she asks it if it wants to go with her. The bird replies "Piyo". As a consequence, Katarina takes the bird back with her to the Claes's house.
??? POV
A man thanks a dying man for having always supported him. He is crying since he is about to lose the first friend he has ever made.
The dying man tells the other man that even if he is about to lose his soul, he will return to this world with a new one. When he does, he will search for the man again, and if he finds him, he asks the man to become his friend again. The man is taken aback since his friend is serious. He tells him that he will wait for him. The dying man smiles with relief and then dies. The man believed in the last words of his friend and kept waiting for him for a long time.
The man wakes up after having this nostalgic dream. He senses a presence that he has never sensed until now. He rushes outside and hears some flapping sounds. He senses his partner in the bird and is happy that his friend has been reborn.
Though, the man is troubled about what to do now. He should probably report this to "that man" since others can easily feel the presence in the bird and he would be blamed if he doesn't report it right away, causing his precious ones to suffer. But if he reports it, "that man" will ask him to bring it to him.
The man reluctantly decides to make his report. The bird brushes his head against his cheek as if to comfort him.
Katarina's POV
Piyo and Everyone
It has been a little while since Katarina has taken Piyo back with her.
Piyo is incredibly cute. Keith was initially indifferent about Piyo, but now he dotes on him whenever he is free from work. Millidiana was angry at first since Katarina had brought in yet another weird creature, but now she secretly dotes on Piyo and brings him some feed. The girls, but also the boys, are also fond of Piyo and come see him with treats. Especially Alan: he always makes sure to bring some treats that Piyo might like, so Piyo has started to like him. The girls brush Piyo's feathers, put some tiny ornaments on him, and dotes on him, and Piyo enjoys it.
Since everyone fusses about Piyo, Katarina thinks Pochi might feel lonely. She summons him and pets him. She thinks Pochi is not any less cute than Piyo. She enjoys both Pochi and Piyo's softness.
Katarina and Anne Go Out Shopping in Town
Katarina is suddenly called by Anne. Anne notifies her that her carriage is ready. Katarina makes Pochi return inside her shadow and puts Piyo on her shoulder. Piyo always behaves whenever on her shoulder. Anne brushes the grass off Katarina's dress (because she was playing with her pets) and they depart.
Katarina is going out to town today since her friends have plans and won't come to visit. She will buy the new volume of a romance novel and eat cakes at popular pastry shops. Anne is accompanying her because Keith, Luigi, and Millidiana are worried about her going out alone. Keith even reminded her not to follow strangers even if they give her sweets. Katarina is 17 now. She legally is an adult in Sorcier, she has graduated from the Academy of Magic and she will soon start working. Despite this, everyone seems to treat her like a young child. There are so many overprotective people around her.
Katarina Sees a Foreign Merchant Caravan
Looking out the window of the carriage, Katarina suddenly sees some big tents. She asks Anne what they are. Anne replies that they are most likely a caravan of merchants. Katarina is unfamiliar with them, so Anne explains that they are a group of merchants traveling the country to buy and sell goods, like some kind of moving shops. Katarina is amazed since it is her first time seeing any. It is also a first for Anne.
It seems to be a caravan of foreign merchants. Katarina asks Anne what kind of goods they sell. Anne replies that they sell things like fabrics or gemstones.
Katarina grows curious and asks Anne if they can take a look. Anne refuses since it can be dangerous. Katarina insists and tells her they will just take a little look and go back right away if it feels dangerous. She adds that Piyo also wants to take a look. Piyo chirps in agreement. Anne finally gives in. They will have a little look and go back right away if it feels even a tiny bit dangerous. Katarina thanks Anne.
Katarina and Anne Visit the Foreign Merchant Caravan
Katarina and Anne have come towards the big tents. There are many people and a lively atmosphere in the air, like a festival. Katarina sees goods spread on carpets and people wearing turbans. It really seems to be a caravan of foreign merchants. Katarina is extremely excited and pulls Anne's hand to the nearest shop tent. Inside, Katarina is amazed by all these goods she has never seen before: vivid fabrics, accessories, and handicrafts.
Katarina gazes at the woodcraft of an animal. She wonders if she should buy it as a souvenir. Piyo flaps his wing when he sees the woodcraft. Katarina moves Piyo next to it. Piyo looks at it silently. The statue seems to represent some sort of bird, but Katarina doesn't recognize it. She asks the merchant what kind of bird it is. The merchant replies it is the guardian deity of his country. Katarina asks him which country he is from. The merchant replies he comes from Mutlaq. Katarina is confused since she doesn't know it. The merchant tells her it is understandable since his country is far away and they mostly have no trade with Sorcier. Katarina wonders why they would expressly go all the way to Sorcier. She is about to ask the merchant, but then she hears some music.
The music comes from foreign musical instruments played on a wooden stage near the tent. Piyo runs towards the music. Katarina chases Piyo but she has a hard time moving through the crowd of people.
Katarina Watches a Dancing Show
Katarina arrives at the stage where the music is played. A veiled girl dressed like a dancer from Arabian Nights appears and starts dancing to the music. Her dance is different from the ones in Sorcier and she moves like a butterfly. Then a tiger appears and joins her dance. After the dance, the dancer and the tiger bow their heads, and the crowd loudly cheers and applauds. Katarina was entranced by the dance.
Katarina Chases Piyo
Katarina suddenly remembers that she was chasing Piyo. She looks hard on the ground and worries about people crushing Piyo under their feet. Then she finally sees Piyo near a tent. She rushes towards it and calls Piyo. Piyo ignores her and enters the tent through a slight opening. Katarina is troubled and wonders if she should ask a merchant for permission to go inside. Then she remembers the tiger from the show and fears Piyo might get eaten. She finally enters the tent using the same opening.
Katarina Meets a Boy
Inside, there are a lot of goods, so Katarina has a hard time searching for Piyo. Then she hears "Piyo" and the voice of a boy amusingly asking Piyo where he came from. The boy wears a turban and carries Piyo in his hand. Katarina shouts in relief since she has finally found Piyo. Hearing her, the boy gets wary and sternly asks her who she is.
Katarina looks at the boy closely. He is an Arabian-style pretty boy.
Katarina explains to the boy that she saw her bird entering the tent and that she entered it too because she feared he might get eaten by the tiger. She apologizes.
The boy's expression softens a bit and he tells her that the tiger over there won't eat anything without his permission. Katarina is startled and finally realizes the presence of the tiger in the room. The tiger gives her a displeased look and goes back to sleep. Katarina feels like the tiger is acting like a cat. The boy mutters that tigers and cats are close species after all. The boy appears to be curt but kind. The tiger seems to be asleep. It feels weird to Katarina to have a big and scary animal sleeping next to her.
Katarina remembers how the tiger acted like a cat when it left the stage led by a person. She asks the boy if he is the one taking care of the tiger. The boy confirms with an expressionless face. Katarina is amazed to see someone who can make a tiger act like a cat. Then she looks at Piyo happily swinging his tail on the boy's hand, without any intention of going back to her. She is shocked to see Piyo so affectionate with someone he has just met while it took her days to get friendly with him.
Katarina tells the boy that he seems to be loved by animals. She is jealous of him since dogs hate her and other animals don't particularly love her. The boy curtly tells her that it is just that he knows how to handle animals since it is his job. Despite his curt tone, Katarina feels like he is a gentle boy.
Katarina is about to ask the boy what his job is, but then a falcon flies over and sits on the boy's shoulder. When Katarina exclaims how pretty the falcon is, the falcon puffs up its chest. The boy gives the falcon a fond look and pets it. The falcon seems to enjoy it. Both of them seem to understand each other.
Katarina asks the boy what his job is. The boy replies he performs acrobatics with the animals. Katarina remembers the tiger from the show and is amazed that the boy was able to teach it its number. The boy replies that the animals just have a good memory and that he is not that amazing. Katarina still thinks he is.
Katarina asks the boy if there is also a show with the falcon. The boy replies that today's show was just a teaser and that the real one will be tomorrow. The falcon will come on stage then. Katarina is shocked because the amazing show from earlier was just a teaser. She asks the boy if anyone can watch the show. The boy replies yes. She asks the boy if she can go see it. The boy says she can come if she likes. Katarina is excited and asks the boy for his name. The boy reluctantly tells her his name: Aaqil. Katarina smiles and introduces herself as "Katarina".
Katarina and Aaqil Are Joined by Another Boy
Aaqil is called from behind by another boy of about his age. The boy is surprised to see Katarina. The boy has a girlish face. The boy asks Aaqil if Katarina is a customer. Aaqil simply tells him she is lost. The boy curiously looks at Katarina.
Katarina explains her circumstances to the boy and apologizes. She extends her hand towards Piyo in Aaqil's hand, but he looks away with a displeased look. Katarina is shocked because she didn't expect Piyo to react like that. Looking at her, the boy lets out a laugh.

The boy explains that Aaqil is an animal charmer. Katarina is shocked and wonders if Piyo got charmed. Aaqil sighs and tells her the boy is joking. He puts Piyo back in her hand. Piyo seems displeased, so Katarina wonders if the boy wasn't right after all. Katarina is sad over Piyo being displeased with her.
Qumiit Invites Katarina to Watch Them Rehearse
Aaquil asks the boy, "Qumiit", what he came for. Qumiit has come to notify him that they will start rehearsing for tomorrow. Katarina excitedly asks if the rehearsal is for tomorrow's show. Qumiit is surprised by Katarina's reaction and asks her if she heard about it from Aaqil. Katarina confirms and tells him that Aaqil even told her she could come. Qumiit grins over Aaqil "inviting" her to see the show. Aaqil curtly replies that he only told her to do what she likes.
Qumiit introduces himself to Katarina and invites her to watch them rehearse. Aaqil disapproves but Qumiit says it is fine.
Katarina is about to accept his offer, but she suddenly remembers about Anne. She explains to Qumiit that she has lost sight of her attendant and asks if she can come back once she has joined with her. Aaqil is surprised that she really happens to be lost. Katarina corrects him: she isn't lost, she has just lost sight of her attendant. Aaqil replies that it is what "lost" means. Katarina pouts. Qumiit smiles while looking at them and tells Katarina to come back once she has joined her attendant. If she tells people that she is Aaqil and Qumiit's acquaintance then people will let them in. Katarina thanks him.
Katarina takes back the reluctant Piyo and heads towards the opening she entered from. Aaqil stops her and asks her where she is going. Katarina simply replies she is going back through the opening she entered from. Aaqil sighs and asks her to properly use the exit instead. Qumiit bursts out laughing. Aaqil escorts her to the exit and asks her not to get lost and to properly use the entrance next time.
Katarina runs off to the carriage place in high spirits. She can't wait before she joins with Anne and they watch them rehearse.
Aaqil's POV
When Aaqil is back, Qumiit grinningly asks him if he has properly sent Katarina off. Qumiit is part of the merchant caravan and also Aaqil's childhood friend. Aaqil curtly says yes, annoyed by Qumiit's grin. Qumiit doesn't mind his tone and tells him that he gotta show Katarina his cool sides when she is back. Aaqil shockingly asks him why. Qumiit simply replies that it is because Aaqil obviously likes her. Aaqil starts denying it, but Qumiit ignores him and leaves the room to prepare for the rehearsal.
Aaqil is convinced that Qumiit has the wrong idea. While it is true that he is bad at talking with people, especially women, he could only talk with Katarina because she threw him out of his pace and she is easy to talk to. Though, it is not the time to talk about frivolous things like this. He closes his eyes and searches for a presence. It is coming soon.
Katarina's POV
Katarina Joins With Anne
Katarina has returned to where her carriage is parked and sees Anne with a livid face, waiting for her. Anne couldn't find her despite frantically searching for her and she was about to ask for help at the Claes house. Katarina was close to getting a good scolding from her mother.
Katarina explains to Anne how Piyo ran off and the events after, and how the merchant people have offered to let her watch them rehearse for tomorrow's show. Anne doesn't seem surprised by this turn of events. Katarina is confused.
Katarina and Anne will change their plans and watch the rehearsal of the show. Katarina keeps Piyo inside the shopping basket to prevent him from running off again. Piyo is displeased but complies after Katarina has explained her reasons.
On the Way to the Rehearsal
Katarina is surprised that merchants would give shows. Anne replies that she has never heard about merchants from Sorcier giving shows, so it must be something specific to merchants from Mutlaq.
Anne didn't see the show earlier because she was too far in the back. She is looking forward to the rehearsal.
Based on the number of people and the variety of goods, this merchant caravan seems to be a large one. While searching for Katarina, Anne heard it was a national merchant caravan. Katarina is surprised about the concept and asks if Sorcier also has one. Anne hasn't heard anything about it and thinks it must be something specific to Mutlaq. It makes sense to Katarina that a national merchant caravan could give shows. Aaqil even said that the show earlier was a teaser, so the real thing must be even more amazing. Katarina can't wait to see it.
Katarina and Anne have arrived at the tent where the rehearsal will take place. Just as Qumiit told her, Katarina tells the old man at the entrance that they are Aaqil and Qumiit's acquaintances. The old man lets them in. He asks them with a smile to give them a good advertisement. Katarina is confused. The old man explains that they give shows to attract people and have them see their goods, so it would help if she could advertise the show to the people around her. Katarina tells him she will advertise it to her friends. The old man tells her she should rather invite them to see the show. Katarina says she will. She would actually like to watch the show with her friends since she will hardly be able to see them from now on.
The old man shouts that Aaqil and Qumiit's acquaintances have arrived. A pair of twin children appear. Aaqil and Qumiit have asked them to guide Katarina and Anne to the stage where the rehearsal will take place. The twins look similar but one acts friendly while the other acts unfriendly.
The friendly twin leads the way to the stage while the other stays behind them. Katarina is surprised to see children in the merchant caravan and asks if they are part of it. The friendly twin confirms and adds that the caravan leader picked them up. Katarina is confused about the "picked up" part. The friendly twin explains that they are orphans. Katarina doesn't know what to say since she didn't expect their heavy circumstances. The unfriendly twin tells her there are a lot of orphans in their country. The friendly one adds that the caravan leader is a softhearted person who can't leave people in trouble alone. Katarina wonders if the whole caravan, including Aaqil and Qumiit, consists of people picked up by the caravan leader.
They have reached the place of rehearsal. The friendly twin invites Katarina and Anne to sit on the chairs and wait, then both twins join the other people backstage. The curtain is still down and Katarina hears some noise coming from the stage. Piyo seems like he wants to come out of the basket. Katarina lets him out and puts him on her shoulder. Piyo looks at the stage with sparkling eyes.
The Rehearsal Show
Eventually, Katarina hears the same music as earlier, and the curtains rise. The stage is bigger and there are more people playing music. Katarina feels more entranced than earlier.
The same veiled dancer girl appears and starts dancing. Veiled child dancers also join her. Then the tiger joins in. Aaqil is quietly standing on the side and exchanges eye contact with the tiger. Katarina is amazed that Aaqil and the tiger seem to understand each other.
The music and the dance stop, and next, a bewitching woman dances with a sword in hand. Katarina feels entranced by her dance.
Then Aaqil comes out with the tiger, the falcon from earlier, and also a snake. He starts his acrobatics show. He makes the tiger jump through a ring, he makes the falcon fly around and drop flower petals. Katarina feels like she is watching a circus show. When Aaqil bows his head after his number, Katarina stands up and claps her hands loudly. Aaqil raises his brows in surprise. Katarina wonders if she might have been too loud.
Then, at last, the dancer girl comes out again and her beautiful singing voice resounds.
After the Rehearsal Show
The show was more wonderful than Katarina expected. Even after the curtain dropped, she couldn't help clapping her hand. Anne was also amazed by the show.
Aaqil walks to them. Katarina can't contain her excitement and tells him about all the emotions she felt during the show. She gushes about how amazing it was, including his number. Aaqil curtly tells her she is too noisy. Katarina insists that she was really moved.
The dancer girl arrives. She has removed her veil and Katarina can see how beautiful she is. Still, she looks familiar. Katarina stares at the girl. The girl can't believe that Katarina still hasn't recognized her and tells her she is Qumiit. Katarina is shocked: she thought she was a boy when they met earlier. Qumiit burst out laughing and tells her he is indeed a boy. He only appears like that on stage. Katarina feels relieved that she wasn't mistaken. Though, no matter how she looks at him, he really looks like a beautiful girl in this costume. She tells him his singing and dancing performances were amazing. Qumiit proudly replies is because he is a genius.
Qumiit tells her about the other people: the musicians and the sword-dancing girl. This merchant caravan seems full of amazing people.
Anne apologizes to Qumiit for the trouble Katarina caused earlier. Katarina hurriedly bows her head too. Qumiit replies that Anne is probably the one who has it the hardest and gives her a sympathetic gaze.
Then Anne clearly expresses her praises regarding the show. Katarina wishes she could have praised the show as clearly.
Aaqil, the falcon and Piyo
The falcon flies over and sits on Aaqil's shoulder. Aaqil gives it a gentle gaze and pets it. The falcon enjoys the touch. Aaqil always makes such a gentle face when he is with animals. Anne tells Aaqil that the falcon really seems attached to him. Aaqil replies that they have been together ever since it hatched from its egg. Katarina finds such a bond between a human and a bird so beautiful, but Piyo feels displeased and throws a tantrum on Katarina's shoulder, looking like it wants to go over to Aaqil. Katarina asks Piyo if he prefers Aaqil over her. Piyo confirms with a "Piyo". Piyo moves on Aaqil's hand and seems to ask him to pet him. Aaqil kindly does so. Piyo seems satisfied and gives a smug look to the falcon. The falcon acts standoffish as if telling Piyo "There's no way you can get between us". Katarina feels like she is witnessing a love triangle between a human and two birds. Aaqil gives her a puzzled look, so she explains how he and the two birds seem to be in a love triangle. Aaqil replies that there is no such thing. Qumiit bursts out laughing while Anne gives a sorry look. Katarina puffs out her cheek and insists that it really looks like that to her. Looking at her, Aaqil smiles. Katarina is surprised since he has only given her frowns or expressionless looks until now. Katarina thinks to herself that the smiles of Arabian-style pretty boys are so devastating that it doesn't affect only birds.
Katarina Feels Like She Has Seen Aaqil Before
Katarina has the strange feeling that she has seen Aaqil's face before, long ago. But at the same time, she feels like in that case, she wouldn't have forgotten the face of such a pretty boy.
Someone from the staff suddenly calls Aaqil and Qumitt to help clean up. Katarina and Anne decide to take their leave. Katarina puts Piyo in the basket despite his reluctance to leave. She tells Aaqil and Qumiit that she will definitely come tomorrow. Upon leaving, Katarina forgets the strange feeling she had about Aaqil.
