leitmotifs never get old to me like holy shit dude there’s this melody that corresponds to this one guy and if you hear the melody it means the guy is there. holy shit. and sometimes it refers to ideas too not just guys. has anyone heard about this
thinking abt that time in one of my art classes when the prof put up a silhouette of L from death note and said “this is not an effective design bc you can’t tell who this character is from this shape”
and everyone in the class went like “yes we can that’s L from death note”
"Kill yourself" is basic. "I hope your fandom gets a new installment that is objectively a great work but also tonally dissonant from the previous ones in a way that generates a huge newbie boom of people uninterested and hostile towards the history of the franchise" is smart. It's possible. It's terrifying. It's happening right now.
Really cannot recommend the fic "King of the Fishing Hole" by Ibijau more than enough for people who are enamored with this idea and would like to see an excellent execution of it. It's a nifty, well-written oneshot that's just over 4k words, and though I read it only once years ago, it's stuck with me through all that time (and this coming from someone who doesn't really read fic + dislikes most of it).
Every day I think about how a ganondorf character model was going to be used in majora’s mask and be working in the swamp. Every day I am a step closer to debilitating insanity.
it's been years and it's still genuinely crazy to me that the first two seasons of stranger things had this throughline where all the bad things that were happening in hawkins were directly caused by the us government and that they were excusing the awful things they were doing to their own citizens (children!) through cold war/red scare reactionism. and then in season three there was a secret russian base under the town mall.
