“In certain young people today…I notice what I find increasingly troubling: a cold-blooded grasping, a hunger to take and take and take, but never give; a massive sense of entitlement; an inability to show gratitude; an ease with dishonesty and pretension and selfishness that is couched in the language of self-care; an expectation always to be helped and rewarded no matter whether deserving or not; language that is slick and sleek but with little emotional intelligence; an astonishing level of self-absorption; an unrealistic expectation of puritanism from others; an over-inflated sense of ability, or of talent where there is any at all; an inability to apologize, truly and fully, without justifications; a passionate performance of virtue that is well mexecuted in the public space of Twitter but not in the intimate space of friendship. I find it obscene.
People who ask you to ‘educate’ yourself while not having actually read any books themselves, while not being able to intelligently defend their own ideological positions, because by ‘educate,’ they actually mean ‘parrot what I say, flatten all nuance, wish away complexity.’
People who wield the words ‘violence’ and ‘weaponize’ like tarnished pitchforks. People who depend on obfuscation, who have no compassion for anybody genuinely curious or confused. Ask them a question and you are told that the answer is to repeat a mantra. Ask again for clarity and be accused of violence.
And so we have a generation of young people on social media so terrified of having the wrong opinions that they have robbed themselves of the opportunity to think and to learn and to grow.”
-Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

Watching one of your own get humiliated, tortured, objectified and dehumanized is abuse and a threat. Every woman who’s been exposed to depictions of women being used, brutalized, raped and objectified has felt it on her skin, it was abuse to her, threat to her entire kind, and to her personally. She was being told, in that moment, what the world does to women, what it would do to her. The rest of her life is then just waiting for her to be forced into it, or doing it willingly in hope it wont be so brutal. This is what living on earth is for women. Watching our own being tortured and waiting for our turn.
This is what pornography is doing to us. It’s what media is doing to us. It’s what photoshopped, unnatural and objectified depictions of women are doing to us. It’s what objectifying via makeup is doing to us. Every image and video of women who are presented as something to be used and consumed, is abuse to womankind.

If I was a billionaire I wouldn’t buy strippers or hookers. I’d pay normal girls to become strippers and hookers for the night.

I’m reading a book about midwifery in New England in the eighteenth century and I’m struck by how pro-woman their treatment of birth was compared to how it’s done today.
Like, it was the norm for labouring women to be surrounded by a midwife and several female friends who all performed some kind of function to aid the woman in delivering her baby safely. Male physicians hated the social tradition and dismissed the gathering of women as facilitating “gossip” and as a hindrance on the rare occasion they attended a birth.
The work of midwives was so valorised that many town maps from this period clearly identify where every midwife was located, and paying the midwife was one of the biggest household expenses alongside taxes.
Midwives developed their own manuscripts full of medicinal remedies for all aspects of reproduction. Birth was managed by women themselves – it was a collective female ritual.
Male obstetricians, motivated in my opinion by a deep-seated envy of women’s reproductive power, began to steal and suppress women’s wisdom around childbirth in the nineteenth century, and by the twentieth century unnecessary medical intervention in childbirth had exploded.
We need to make childbirth woman-centred again.

Hard truth men but since men have nothing but DNA to contribute to our species maybe it's only natural they be the ones held to any kind of beauty standard. Like birds.

Not to be anti- personal choice or anything but whenever i see a 19 something girl get engaged or married instead of focusing on her education and future it really doesn't sit right with me. And usually the guy is atleast 3-4 years older too.
Men can get married young but will never have to care about independence in a marriage. The worst scenario for woman is to be financially dependent on her husband.
Like really please force to yourself to study even if you don't like it and try to get settled in a good job before even thinking about marriage. Cuz men get a different kind of kick when they know you're completely dependent on them and can't go anywhere.
If it's true love it can wait a few years.

gen z is the most anti-feminist generation alive today. they talk soooo much shit about older women when we wouldn’t even be able to open a bank account or get a divorce if it wasn’t for the activism of gen x and baby boomer women. and most of gen z is whining about gender feels and calling themselves bimbos on tiktok instead of doing anything tangible or meaningful. they consider themselves to be woke when the only “activism” they perform is dogpiling women they deem privileged.

isn't it extremely unsettling to live in a world where men claim to love women and be their protectors, yet one of the leading causes of death (the top according to some studies) for pregnant women is homicide? men are a leading cause of death for women (and get to have it described as a "crime of passion"), but that's "love."

i know we've gotta have class consciousness and all stick together but my god i am so fucking sick and tired of osa women outright stating they don't see us as women. they're all five seconds away from "well you stupid dykes don't understand oppression!" and i'm just sooooo sick of it. lesbian separatism WHEN???
Im literally so tired of explaining to osa women that lesbians are also women and experience oppression and expectations that they face. And they act like men are also most of our daily lives too like... hello yes we too come from families and work jobs and interact with the world around us.
