John Wesley Shipp portrays Barry Allen, a police crime technologist endowed with sudden talents after a fluke lab accident. Amanda Pays is medical researcher Tina McGee, who monitors Allen’s accelerated metabolism and guards his secret identity. Looney Tunes Volume 3 Blu-Ray Review
Looney Tunes Collector's Choice Volume 3 includes 25 classic Warner Bros. cartoons, here for the first time on Blu-ray and covering 30 years (1934-1964, a.k.a. the Golden Age of animation). It’s hard to believe the oldest cartoon, “Honeymoon Hotel”, is now 90 years old. The animated shorts are comprised of Merrie Melodies and Looney Tunes. Generally Merrie Melodies are older without the major characters, i.e. Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, etc., but there are some exceptions here. Anyone familiar with these legendary animated shorts already know what to expect, a fantastic mixture of music and sound effects, along with some amazing voice acting. “China Jones”, for example starring Daffy Duck and Porky Pig will have you chuckling from start to finish. Daffy’s facial expressions alone are hilarious … even on mute this make me smile from ear to ear. Most every episode on here are hilariously timeless.

It’s fun to look back at the evolution of Bugs Bunny through the years. In "Elmer's Pet Rabbit”, a Merrie Melodies short co-starring Elmer Fudd, Bugs is a much bigger ‘wise guy’, sporting yellow gloves and a voice which has yet to be refined by Mel Blanc into Bugs' trademark voice.

The thing I enjoyed most about this collection were the Looney Tunes with the legendary matchups: Wile E. Coyote & the Road Runner, Sylvester the Cat & Tweety Bird, and Bugs Bunny & Elmer Fudd. Just watching these characters interact with each other makes me chuckle and forget life's problems for a brief moment.

I would suggest that future releases focus on a much small time period and/or the major characters. I also prefer the Looney Tunes shorts to the Merrie Melodies. With the wealth of an enormous library, Warner Bros. could easily start cranking out numerous releases concentrating on the major cartoon characters.

VIDEO QUALITY 📽️ :  B-
With the 1080p resolution and 1.37:1 aspect ratio, this is undoubtably the best you’ve ever seen these animated shorts. It’s always a fine line Warner Bros. has to toe while restoring these older animated classics. Although scrubbing the video is somewhat necessary to present these cartoons in high definition, WB still has to make sure not to wash away the original film grain. To me, Warner Bros. has done an fine job with both on this volume. You’ll be able to notice the crispness of the video even on black bars on the left and right of the 4x3 aspect ratio. The only drawback is that some of the shorts seem more polished than others.
AUDIO QUALITY 🔈 : B+
The DTS-HD Master Audio is solid for a simple 2.0 mono presentation. Both music, sound effects and dialogue are clear and compliment the picture nicely.
EXTRAS 📀 :  F
The only real drawback to this collection is the lack of extras. No digital download and no disc special features.
OVERALL GRADE: B
The replay value of this single disc is extremely high for me. I still love throwing these classic cartoons in my Blu-Ray player on Saturday mornings and reliving my childhood again and again.
You can purchase this release at Amazon.
