and you know what, while i'm on this train, just because something's technically well-executed does not make it good. i've seen instagram artists with hundreds of thousands of followers whose only selling point is how much their paintings resemble photographs, and of course there's nothing wrong with that, but let's not pretend that it's a more valuable or original form of art than, say, the creative output of some random midwestern housewife who's never been to art school and just really likes painting pictures of elvis presley.

i follow a facebook page called "terrible art found in charity shops" and so many of the paintings that get posted on there are just... abstract art. not terrible, just unusual or stylised in a clearly intentional way. and the people who post them always add the most obnoxious captions like "well, i don't know who this 'picasso' is, but it's time he learned that women's eyes don't live in the sides of their heads! 😜" idk like i just think the world would be a better place if we got over this idea that art must be hyperrealistic and aesthetically pleasing in order to be good lol

What's so rare about your copy? Also yes you should do it
it's a first edition, first printing, and part of an early run that was recalled due to a printer's error (misaligned text on one of the pages). only 500 copies were ever released. i need to get it professionally valued, though - rare book dealers are finicky, and the slightest bit of tearing or foxing can affect a book's worth pretty significantly.

wouldn't it be so swag of me to auction off my exceedingly rare + valuable edition of prisoner of azkaban and then put the money towards my top surgery

I haven't purchased a HP item in close to a decade - I use the books I already had as doorstops or to prop a laptop up for meetings nowadays.
There is NO "death of the author" with JK Rowling - she controls and continues to profit from her IP, and uses that money to fund hate groups.

when i picked the name eliot i had so many different spellings to choose from, so i went for the one with the least amount of letters for the sake of simplicity, and to this day nobody has ever written it out correctly on the first try. it's nice to imagine that eliot spencer from leverage also has this problem.

I know I'm a bit late to saying this but frankly if I found out a secret society of magic-users were just playing nonsense sports and making up slurs for the rest of us instead of helping us out with famines or leukemia I think I'd apply for a job with my local witch hunters
