Closeted culture is hanging out with openly queer friends and casually mentioning to one of them that you are ace only for them to completely change their tone and reply with “ah, alright 😌” and progressively distance themselves from you. Then, devastated, proceeding to lay low for a year and now I get an email from my uni’s administration and in the little profile pic of the person who sent it I spot an ace flag in the bg!! This is the first time I see ace representation around me like this and honestly I feel like I might even cry a little 🥹

my closeted experience is having to put up with my mom sending me transphobic articles that ring incredibly false if you know more than like three trans people

closet culture is pointing out random things that are your pride flags colors to your parents (i.e. 'wow that pink purple and blue shirt is so cute') and trying to subtly hint it even though you don't want then to know but you do at the same time?? but you don't so you're grateful that they only recognize the rainbow flag and not any of the others

Closet culture is having a very big extended family (nearly 30 1rst cousins big) and being slightly concerned upon realizing at this rate im going to be the first queer kid to be out. Doesnt help that a big portion lives in a very homophobic country.

Closeted culture while living with your parents is not being able to wash (and hang out to dry) the flag you're hiding after secretly going to pride. Please, parents, go somewhere for the weekend.

Not a closeted experience but how's pride month going for you thus far? How'd you celebrate? I hope everything's well and safe for you <3
Heyy, thank you for your wishes, hope everything’s going well for you too 🤗
I’ve never actually celebrated pride outside the safety of social media. For me it’s always been a month to reflect on who I am and why I like being who I am.
Since I’ve moved town this year, I am now living in a much more accepting community so I thought I’d go to the pride parade that took place last Saturday, but unfortunately I had to go cover a shift at work that day. However on my way back I was able to see people returning from pride all happy and with all the different flags. That rly made my day and made me feel like I’m not alone; I just feel so grateful that people around me can express themselves freely like that.

Closet culture is the paranoia of thinking every muffled conversation your parents have is about kicking you out for being lesbian.

Closeted culture is counting all the pride flags i see when my family's driving around. Rainbow capitalism is the bane of my existence, but man its nice to see some positvity, even if it is just for a month or two.
