while the bulk of her work tends to be more focused on her business adventures these days,   yelena still keeps herself busy with two types of work   :   her civilian job   &   her occasional jobs as a spy.

BUSINESSWOMAN.     her primary civilian job   ( albeit under her alias yulya belkova,   rather than yelena. )   is as the owner   &   operator of the angelina modeling agency   ( out of which she also does occasional modeling work herself,   too,   in order to keep up with her status as a world-class model that got her there. )   that operates primarily out of havana,   cuba,   but has begun to branch out in recent years,   providing a wide range of models for high-end fashion,   both on the runway   &   in catalogues,   &   in advertisements for a number of companies   &   brands that fit to a certain standard that she has. on top of her modeling work,   she also owns a line of cosmetics   ( with more of a focus on selfcare products. )   &   dabbles in numerous miscellaneous investments,   while maintaining her status as a popular socialite in cuba.

SPY.     although not her primary focus anymore given her shifted life views   &   goals for herself,   yelena does still maintain a smaller operation in espionage,   primarily through her work with vanguard,   but also through her own personal ventures   &   the occasional job she may take from outside sources,   provided the request is one that she feels is worthy of her. largely,   these days,   she has more of a tendency to use her skill   &   training in espionage to help herself or do some good in the world now   &   then,   rather than as a primary means of income or supporting herself.

more specifically,   as a spy,   yelena has a tendency to focus on work that will best aid her   ( ruining people that would work against her in business or personal interests,   tackling local crime organizers   &   higher-ups to help the people around her,   manipulating the political climate to some extent within her bubble. ),   while also taking on work with vanguard when required   ( prior to their initial dissolution   &   faking their deaths to escape colonel america,   although she does keep contact with some of her old teammates with a standing offer to help if they should require her for a job she might be better suited to.   friends discount included. ).

on very rare occasions she may take outside work as a freelance operative,   but typically only on one-off,   short-term jobs,   as she finds that after her dealings with the red room   &   russian government,   she has little to no interest in attaching herself to any organization or group that may attempt to use her for their own gain while treating her as an expendable operative they can replace without struggle.

following her dealings with the red room   &   then vanguard,   yelena has more of a tendency to work solo these days   ;   she largely prefers the ability to lean only on her own abilities without needing to worry about other people getting in the way   ——   or eventually turning on her.

as a spy,   she works more primarily freelance   ;   it gives her better control over her work   ( enables her to ensure that what she does isn’t directly harmful to people she doesn’t want to be harmful to,   helping the people that she wants to be helping. )   &   a greater ability to make sure that what she puts her energy into is worth the expense of her time,   while enabling her to act as she wants to,   without concern for red tape or running things through a chain of command to get permission to handle something that needs handling.
