The Unsung Hero of Ben 10: Greg Johnson
Put this under Rare Facts, but this deserves its own post.
Ben 10 was pitched by Man of Action in 2002, and spent the next three years in development. Heavily inspired by Dial H for Hero, the concept started out as Ben using the watch to dial in superheroes, as seen in some of Steven E. Gordon's concept art.
Tumblr media
As revealed in I-10, another version was where he'd use the watch, known then as the Megawatt, to swap places between 10 versions of himself from different universes.
However, according to Dave "Devilpig" Johnson, art director and character designer of the first two seasons, a writer named Greg Johnson came up with the final push that would make Ben 10 what it is: Aliens.
However, his contribution was uncredited outside of being mentioned by Dave on Twitter years later. While I can't 100% confirm this, I believe the Greg Johnson we're looking for is the same one who wrote for X-Men Evolution, another show Steven E. Gordon worked on.
Tumblr media
His other credits include scattered episodes of many Marvel cartoons, even up to present day, having written (at the time of writing) 7 episodes of Spidey and His Amazing Friends.
So thank you, Greg Johnson, your idea to introduce aliens made the show into a phenomenon that it probably wouldn't have been without that additional touch.

A Chowder-Flavored Addendum
Also worth noting is a marathon of popup Chowder episodes aired on August 7 2010, to coincide with the final episode, Chowder Grows Up.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Interestingly, also only 18 episodes (counted in 11 minute segments) were made, and for whatever reason, Cartoon Network aired Australian PAL masters of the episodes, which has got me thinking: Since the Ben 10 ones only ever got any sort of release in Australia, thanks to a couple of DVDs by Madman Entertainment, could there be a connection there? Maybe the popups were CN Australia's doing?
Ben 10: Popup Trivia/Enhanced Edition Update
Hello, Lost and Found followers! I've done some further research on the topic of these special editions of the episodes, and come to the conclusion that we're actually a lot closer to having them all than we think.
Tumblr media
For the marathon, it seems as though there were only 18 popup episodes actually made! First of all, this information comes from the the researchers at the CN/AS Archive Wiki, where they have a partial schedule for that day: April 13th 2008.
As far as the ones we for have properly on record, those are highlighted in green. These are the episodes released on two volumes of DVDs released in Australia by Madman Entertainment, as well as one that was curiously uploaded to Hulu for some reason.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Five episodes we have written renditions of, by other fans from when these aired.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And two, only partially, either by a forum post, or recycled information on a special DVD.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The two that are ruled out had popups added to some of the deleted scenes on the Season 4 DVD. In the case of Don't Drink The Water, one is recycled from earlier popups.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And for all of these featured on Deleted Scenes, the formatting is odd, because the text bleeds really far into the Omnitrix graphic on the sides, while the ones seen in full episodes don't do that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bottom line, we're only looking for 7 missing popup episodes, not the entire series!
And all it would take to finish this search, is a tape of that one day.

And after a week, and 168 votes, the winner is... Arctiguana!
Tumblr media
Feedback came in really close though! And let's be real, Eon had no chance. Thanks for voting, everyone!
Rare Ben 10 Fact #09
Much like Doctor Who's Ninth Doctor having three paradoxical incarnations, no one is quite sure about Young Ben's 20th alien!
if we go in debut and unlock order, by the end of the Original Series, there's:
Heatblast
Wildmutt
Diamondhead
XLR8
Grey Matter
Four Arms
Stinkfly
Ripjaws
Upgrade
Cannonbolt
Wildvine
Blitzwolfer
(Perk) Upchuck
Snare-Oh
Frankenstrike
(True) Ghostfreak
Ditto
Eye Guy
Way Big
There's three candidates for Ben's 20th alien:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
-Eon, while dubious as a transformation, Ben did still turn into him.
Tumblr media
-Feedback is the obvious choice, having been designed with the intent of an Original Series alien.
Tumblr media
-Arctiguana is the most interesting argument, as he's the most well established of the three, having gotten usage by Young Ben in an OS Action Packs comic, by Ultimate Ben in his debut episode, the only figure out of the three 10k aliens, and was even playable in the Omniverse game alongside Young Feedback.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
-And if that wasn't enough, Kevin's secondary mutation in the Omniverse flashbacks includes Arctiguana, at a time where I believe Ben would've lost Feedback already.
Tumblr media
I'm going to run a poll, and let you guys decide! It ends one week from today.

Hey.
Sorry this blog's been dead. I've been going through some life-related changes, and in the wake of Tumblr's AI issues, and the deletion of Owen Dennis'/the Infinity Train crew account, I'd like to move away from Tumblr as a whole, otherwise I'd be contributing to the problem he was trying to prevent.
Ideally I'd make some kind of standalone website, but the whole thing isn't easy.

User Generated Sunday: KJMarch Returns!
You read that right, KJMarch, otherwise known as Benjamin Mackey, one of the first prominent Ben 10 artists, has returned, and is remastering his old alien art! There's a good chance you've seen some of his work somewhere, such as the five 10k Alien fan designs that became sortof the go-to, well before Omniverse or Tom Perkins would do theirs.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Having posted his original Wildmutt art on May 28th, 2007, up to Terraspin on December 21st, 2010, with a mess of fan aliens inbetween, he's come back to deliver updated versions of his work!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Go give him a follow, he's gonna be doing a new one just about every day!

Happy Birthday to Dwayne McDuffie, who would've been 62 if he were still here with us. You had so many more stories to tell, but you were gone too soon. An incredible legacy of creating diverse characters in the superhero scene, and above all just a damn good writer. Rest in power.

Rare Ben 10 Fact #8
A.K.A. "Gwen's (and Max's but mostly Gwen's) Disastrous Toy History"
Ben 10's always been seen as a "boy show", which in 2024 is an outdated concept. However, to this day, making toys of girl characters in shows isn't seen as profitable. That's one of the reasons why CN deemed another show, Sym-Bionic Titan, a failure and wrote the series off for taxes. (A system that's heavily being abused lately, but I won't get into that.)
Let's start at the beginning, way back in the Original Series, with "Gwen with Grey Matter", released in 2007 during the second wave of the standard line.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While it's by no means a bad figure, what if someone wanted one of just Gwen by herself, and not Lucky Girl? And no, there's no Max figure to speak of in this era. Something they could've packed with the Rustbucket playset.
Moving up to Alien Force, we have two for Gwen. Though only one would be seen stateside.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alien Force Gwen would only ever be seen in the UK, while the Anodite Gwen figure was a lot more common.
Tumblr media
There's also a set exclusive to Toys r' Us during the Ultimate Alien Era that contains both this Gwen, the previously UK Exclusive Max, and Soccer Ben.
Moving to Ultimate Alien, there's two releases of the same figure. One standalone version, and one with one-third of the Rustbucket III.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As for what's left for Max, for UA, you get this abomination of a figure.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And for OV, you get this. Which wouldn't be so bad, until you realize they've reused most of the mold from the Alien Force one.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And don't even get me started on the Reboot, even the Rustbucket Playset could at least get a Max, maybe a Gwen too, but no.

User Generated Friday: 5 Years Later - The Motion Comic [Episode 4 and 5]
As of today, two more episodes of the fully-voiced 5YL Motion Comic have been released, with one more coming tomorrow!
youtube
youtube
This batch of episodes is special to me, because I got to contribute some sound design work! Specifically extraction of archive audio for certain alien-specific sound effects, like in Episode 4, Wildmutt and Stinkfly during Eon's flashbacks, as well as the Ben scream used in the scene that follows. In the following episode, I contributed a custom pack of sounds for use with Galvanic Mechamorph-based characters, such as Ben's transformation Upgrade, and the Orion Squad member GoTro, built and layered from a few different sources, as well as some extracted from the Original Series. I tried to match the vibe of the Original Series Upgrade sounds while giving 5YL's version of the species a bit of a unique identity.
It's been an honor to contribute even something this small to the legacy of 5YL, and maybe this won't be the last time I do so? Only time will tell. If any Ink Tank crew are reading this, thank you. <3

18 Years of Hero Time
Tomorrow, Ben 10 turns 18.
Tonight, I would like to, again, apologize for the lack of content here. Life's been changing in weird ways for me, and I haven't had the time or mental capacity to do a lot of searching for new stuff to share. I'm just one person after all.
This post is just to essentially let everyone know I'm still alive and well, I always wonder if my extended inactivity worries anyone where they think something happened to me.

Due to recent events, I would like to state that I, the owner and operator of Ben 10: Lost and Found, DO NOT support the controversial views expressed by any voice actor, artist, or other individual associated with the franchise.
This blog is meant to spotlight the history of the series, as well as the many underrated names that helped bring Ben 10 to life.
