7 years sober and clean πŸ‹οΈβ€β™‚οΈ Some of you know or may not know I will have 7 years sober on 5/31/23. I know that a lot of you struggle with different types of addictions πŸ’ͺ I can pretty much get addicted to any drug, money, food or person. Anything that makes me feel good. I always have to check myself each day to remember how I felt before I was sober and how bad it was. I always ask myself. Am I getting too much of one thing and obsessing about it? Then I ask, why am I obsessing about it? Usually the answer is inside myself. Maybe I'm depressed. Maybe things are not going the way I think they should. I may need to talk to a friend or mentor to help me sort things out. I don't ever try to figure it out alone because usually I will continue to obsess. If you feel like this sometime or a lot. Why I Created My Program πŸ‹οΈβ€β™‚οΈ I saw men that gave up on their body's once they hit 40 years old. Obesity was common and I was tired of watching people being unhealthy because of their day-to-day choices of food and lifestyle. I want to change lives. When men give up on their body then their mind gets depressed, and they cannot get out of it without help. I wanted to help people get out of their negative thinking that kept bringing them down. I helped some of these clients that I trained lose close to 100 pounds. Their depression is better. They started dating and their sex life has improved. They are confident and productive again. Once all this happened their quality of life improved. They are much happier now. My biggest pet peeves of online fitness coachingπŸ‹οΈ I do not like how online fitness coaches treat their clients sometimes. Coaches sometimes make them feel like they do not care, and they are just a $ sign. I get that everyone has to make a living but take pride in whatever job you do is all I am saying. πŸ€‘ I feel like a lot of clients give up too soon because of lack of motivation a structured program from the coach. I know 100% a client needs structure, and constant reassurance to get results. A relationship is formed, and clients stay for longer periods of time. Clients also need to be able to maintain their new bodies after all the hard work. They need a program for that as well. I make sure my students have goal's every 3 months we do, "(SMART)" goals together, so they know what they are aiming at achieving They also have meal, supplement, and workout plans that change every 3 months depending on how they changed in the 90 days prior. 🧠 This has seemed to work out nicely with my previous clients. I never have had one client who didn't at least achieve a small amount of muscle gain or weight loss. If they stick to my program, they will be engaged and stay focused. 3 Unexpected Benefits of Your ProgramπŸ‹οΈ ⌚I was kind of lost on how to work out and be healthy and balanced at the same time. I had been working 60-hour weeks driving for Lyft and I was starting to get pain in my lower back. 🧘I didn't have good work life balance and I just could not change it for some reason. The problem was I could not get out of the life cycle I was in. Which was work, sleep, eat once a day, and drive. I also was not eating because I was working so much and drinking energy drinks to stay awake to drive. I was back down to 145 lbs. and not happy physically or mentally. I did not have a life schedule. My life was just waking up and driving to pay bills. No friend, what an existence. Eventually I just could not do it anymore. 🚘I decided I was going to drive less and use the extra 3 hours from driving during the slow time which was around noon every day to workout. I woke up early to make sure I ate. I gave myself a nap time after my 1-hour workout and after eating before starting to drive in the afternoon again. I made sure I was getting at least 7 hours sleep per night. The 3 things: 1. I was able to get more sleep 😴 2. I was happier πŸ˜€ 3. My lower back problem went away πŸ‘ I then was back up to 160 lbs. I was eating regularly and working out. I put my schedule mentioned above, into my scheduler on my phone so I can look at it all the time. So, no matter what, every day I was doing the same thing. Gaining muscle is hard πŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺ It is hard to gain muscle for some. It depends on genetics and what you are eating. The regular 9 to 5 worker does not know how to gain muscle. I needed to get a coach myself to teach me how. When you work a regular job. The pattern is going to work, eat and go to sleep. In order to be healthy, you need to do more than that. You need to set up a healthy life schedule which includes work, eating 3 meals a day, and 6-8 hours of sleep. In order to get into a healthy pattern and gain muscle. You have to consume 1 gram of protein per pound that you want to weigh. So, say you want to weigh 165 lbs. You eat 165 grams of protein. Then you need to manage the other carbs and fats. In order to do that. I use an app called myfitnesspal to track everything daily. You then have to do light weight and high reps at the gym or house for 30 minutes and then cardio of any type for 30 minutes. This needs to be done between 3 to 6 times a week depending on your goal and how in shape you are. When I finally started to gain muscle, I felt so good. Sometimes when I get thrown off and I don't eat enough and I'm stressed. I lose some muscle. The great thing is though is that people can gain the muscle back more easily once you were on the healthy pattern before. Suicide or a drug overdose πŸ’Š I have been through my ups and downs in life and also in my fitness program. It is hard to get results right off the bat. I had a hard time growing up as a skinny guy from 129 lbs. to now 165 lbs. and 5'8. I still am working on putting on more size on my body and I think I always will. I will always have to eat a lot and make sure I am eating that amount daily and I know that I have to. Even though it is a pain in the ass. One thing I never do is give up. I have my off days like anyone else, but I circle around. I may get depressed. I even have clinical depression and I am medicated for it. I still do what I'm so post to do. If my brain is not right, then my body is not right. As long as I stay levelheaded and in the middle. My body reflects that. People get stuck in a cycle of being unhealthy and then they never get enough rest. They obsess on relationships, and people and they never get out of the rut. They usually will not go see a therapist or physiatrist and they suffer forever. Once I did my process of starting with my brain and working down into the body. I now have gained weight and put on muscle. I sleep better most nights. I take care of myself better. The one thing my mother always told me was. If I have a problem and I'm unhappy, then fix it. I went to the doctor and fixed it. I am not perfect every day, but I am much better than when I was a teenager. I then started to eat and work out after my brain was fixed, well better. I still struggle. I use mediation and gratitude lists as well. My mind is much clearer now and I can go for my goals. For me, it was an easy decision because. It was either suicide or drug overdose. Once I did my process of starting with my brain and working down into the body. I now have gained weight and put on muscle. I sleep better most nights. I am all-around more loving of myself and others. Never Give Up πŸ™ŒπŸ»πŸ™ŒπŸ»πŸ™ŒπŸ» I was a skinny kid growing up. I was teased for being the small one in the group. I didn't hit puberty till I was 16. Everyone else was already growing body hair and getting taller. I was put into school a year earlier because I was smart, and my parents knew it would give me a leg up in the long run. I graduated high school at 120 lbs. and 5'8. I had been working out since I was 13 years old and just could not gain any weight because my metabolism was so fast. It lowered my self-esteem enough to where it mentally messed me up for a long time. I would not speak up to others. I would become depressed because I could not put on any weight. Everyone in the gym looked huge to me and intimidating. Things did start to change after I stuck with it long enough. I started in college to make friends. I started eating more. I joined a fraternity. I became the social chair of the fraternity and got involved. I was eating 4,000 calories a day and discovered healthy supplements to use. Everyone needs some kind of supplement in America because we work so much that we don't get the nutrients we need. Also in college, I started making a lot of friends. Some of which I helped gain weight. I helped my little fraternity brother put on a lot of size and he turned into a stud. I started immersing myself in the fitness world and made my weakness into a strength. You have to go through enough pain to make a change like this one. My self-confidence started building and now I am who I am today. A trainer who loves bodybuilding and helping other smaller guys put on weight, so they do not suffer the way I did. I hope I catch them early on in their lives. People don't realize that being undersized cab also cause trauma as much as being overweight. Client Anniversary πŸ₯³πŸŽŠπŸŽ‰ David turned 1 year with me on 2/21/2022 as client. He signed up with me and has made great progress learning about nutrition, new lifting techniques, and new types of cardio he hadn't been exposed to with past trainers. πŸ“… Life happens to people. This means that people go on vacations. Individuals may get sick and pass away in a client's life. A change of career is another one I hear a lot. When things like this happen, people need to remember to hop back into their lives and not let things consume them like the ones listed above. To not give up is the number one thing. 1️⃣ You may have to reset your mind and workout plan to do so. I have done that with David a few times to keep things fresh. Throughout this year. I have gained a wonderful client as well as a good friend. Sometimes, with clients, you get to be part of the family and that's how I feel about David. A wonderful gift we receive as trainers is to be part of another human's life for a long period of time. You get to see the ups and downs of a person but are there to still make sure they come back to what really matters. Mental and physical health are most important. This means David maintained a schedule with me. ⏰ David, you are much different from when we first started.
