playing around with an older form but giving it a new texture and glaze. it's interesting trying to translate the forms i usually underglaze into textured glazed forms. they need to be treated quite differently and don't always want to make the switch

Favorite game that you would NOT recommend to someone
What comes to mind immediately is Alan Wake, since I watched a partner play through it recently. The first one, that is.
Horrible, wonderful, hilarious game. At its worst when it remembers it's a game. Can't wait to see what's going on in the second one.

Biggest artistic influence?
Is it weird to say Dark Souls? I might have to say Dark Souls.
To back up a bit, I have a hard time quantifying my influences. I'm not... really sure what I look to when I go "I want to make like that" in earnest, and I have trouble figuring out what my unconscious inspirations are. The closet I've come is thinking about the book covers I was obsessed with as a kid.
But Dark Souls is pretty close to an active influence. The vibe, the world, the little bit of unpolished crunch to it. The use of implication and telling the story through puzzle pieces. It's the kind of depth and breadth (and mastery of tone) I aspire to when I think about worldbuilding.

Rain World and Elden Ring are two other games I could go on and on and on and on and on about I think. I love them so much, they rearranged my brain.
I just think it's less important to actually get your hands dirty with them to experience them, as opposed to Outer Wilds, where I think the best thing to do is just jump in.

What is your favorite game?
In terms of what I'll boot up when I'm craving that cozy blanket feeling: Monster Hunter World
In terms of what I'll actually suggest y'all give a chance: Outer Wilds
I'm someone who kind of hates the idea of worrying about spoilers in every case EXCEPT Outer Wilds, so I would recommend not looking into the story or game mechanics much at all if you think you might be interested in it.
If you're someone who enjoys watching people game instead of playing yourself, I really recommend About Oliver's Outer Wilds playthrough. It's the exact right amount of blind piecing together and enthusiastic engagement with the game.
I could go on forever about Outer Wilds. Wow.
