S’pore residents 70 years old and above can register in advance for Covid-19 vaccination before rollout on Feb 22
Singapore – Seniors 70 years old and above can now register their interest to get vaccinated for Covid-19 as part of a pilot launch before the vaccination programme for seniors begins on Feb 22.According to an advisory by vaccine.gov.sg, those seniors who are interested in getting vaccinated early but have not yet received their letter of invitation could book an appointment expressing their interest."As part of a pilot launch, appointment slots are being progressively rolled out to seniors 70 years old and above," the site says. Those interested can register and make appointments online. They will be notified through SMS with a link allowing them to book an appointment. Information required during the process includes one's date of birth and NRIC number. There are 22 clinics, 20 polyclinics, and 11 vaccination centres to choose from, some located at community centres. The advisory also notes, "If you are unable to submit this form but wish to proceed, Maxisys Ultra price. please approach a community centre, or call MOH Covid-19 hotline at 1800-333-9999 for assistance."On Feb 12, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong confirmed that mass vaccinations for the elderly would begin on Monday (Feb 22). Letters are being dispatched in batches to invite those eligible to get vaccinated, noted straitstimes.com. Those who haven't received their letters can also call the Ministry of Health (MOH) Covid-19 hotline to inquire if the letters have already been mailed out.To date, there are two approved Covid-19 vaccines in Singapore - Moderna's vaccine and Pfizer-BioNTech. Both consist of two jabs, taken 28 days and 21 days apart, respectively.Experts have also said that a few days' delay would not reduce the efficacy of the vaccines - reported to be about 94 per cent for Moderna's vaccine and 95 per cent for Pfizer-BioNTech's.On Dec 14 last year, Mr Lee announced in a televised statement that Covid-19 vaccines would be free for all Singaporeans and long-term residents currently in Singapore. It is only extended to those aged 16 and older. Those at greatest risk will be given first priority, including healthcare and front-line workers and the elderly and vulnerable. Those with severe allergic reactions or who are immuno-compromised are advised to consult with their doctors about getting vaccinated.About 250,000 people have got the first dose, while 55,000 have received their second dose thus far. Mr Lee announced that the entire eligible population is expected to be vaccinated by the end of the year should vaccine supplies arrive as scheduled. /TISG

Bill Gates Would Rather Save Earth Than Flee to Mars | IE
Microsoft founder, Bill Gates, explained how he's simply not a "Mars person," and that he would rather spend money on measles vaccines and tackling climate change, than launching off to relocate on Mars. Gates' views were aired on Monday in the New York Times' "Sway" podcast, in which he explained his stance on Earth-related focuses. "No, I'm not a Mars person," Gates said on Sway. "I know a lot of Mars people. But, you know, Maxisys Ultra. I'm not subject to that."It wasn't all doom and gloom from Gates. He praised the likes of Elon Musk and all he's contributed when it comes to electric vehicles, calling Tesla's CEO's creation "one of the greatest contributions to climate change anyone's ever made." And that "Underestimating Elon is not a good idea."That said, Gates also pointed out that working on electric vehicles was the easy part, with larger industries needing major clean-ups in terms of sustainability. "We're basically not doing enough on the hard stuff: steel, cement, meat," Gates explained. "And sadly, the things people think about - the electricity, passenger cars - are a third of the problem. So we have to work on the two-thirds."So instead of funding space missions to the Red Planet, Gates prefers to spend parts of his fortune on Earth-related measures such as measles vaccines, and other health issues, as well as the climate crisis. It's clear to see Gates' involvement in what he cares about. For instance, his nuclear power venture unveiled last year hopes to fight climate change, and his clear warnings of how climate change's death toll will ultimately be much higher than the COVID-19 pandemic's, are just some of his points.Gates is known for being a practical man, with an astute sense of how things will pan out. Typically, when he foresees something, it happens. So when Gates shares his predictions on the next major threats humanity will face like he did last week, perhaps we should take a page out of his book.

Uwe Gemballa’s Son Gets Ruf To Develop Engine For Porsche Project
Marc Philipp Gemballa, founded by Uwe Gemballa's son of the same name, is readying a new high-riding supercar that launches sometime this spring. It's been teased a handful of times, though we're still waiting for the official reveal. We'll have to wait a bit longer for that information, but in the meantime, the company has announced that it'll partner with Ruf in developing the supercar's high-powered engine.Details about the project are still a closely guarded secret, though we know it's based on the Porsche 911 Turbo S 992 Series. It borrows its inspiration from the iconic design of the Porsche 959, Maxisys Ultra. though it'll sport a modern powerplant. Marc Philipp Gemballa will use the Turbo S's twin-turbocharged 3.7-liter flat-six engine, but Ruf will massage more power out of it. The engine makes 640 horsepower (477 kilowatts) and 590 pound-feet (800 Newton-meters) of torque. Ruf's engine will produce more than 750 hp (552 kW) and 604 pound-feet (920 Nm) of torque.According to the company, even with the increase in power, the engine complies with the latest EURO 6 emissions regulations and WLTP testing. The company also announced that it had sold all 10 of the launch edition models. That leaves just 30 examples of the new car left for sale, which may get bought up after its reveal this spring. Series production isn't expected to begin until sometime later this year. The supercar has been in development for more than two years and has presented a handful of problems for Uwe's son. Last year, Gemballa GmbH sued Marc Philipp Gemballa GmbH for trademark infringement and fraud, though that doesn't appear to have slowed the project's development or any partnerships. In addition to working with Ruf, Marc Philipp Gemballa has also partnered with KW Automotive, Michelin, VELA Performance, and KLK Motorsport.

Here’s how to play the Singapore markets as the government announces new budget plans
SINGAPORE - Singapore-listed stocks with exposure to the aviation and retail sectors could see a boost as a result of the government's latest budget measures, analysts from the country's largest bank DBS said. They also said private health-care companies could come under pressure with the new budget, which was announced on Tuesday. The Singapore government announced its spending plans for the financial year starting in April - which includes 11 billion Singapore dollars ($8.3 billion) to support the country's recovery from the Covid pandemic, as well as several policies to boost revenue in the future.DBS analysts said in a Wednesday report that some of the measures would benefit - or hurt - stocks in Singapore. In his budget speech, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Heng Swee Keat announced a six-month extension in wage subsidies for the aviation, autel ms919. aerospace and tourism sectors - or until September this year.Heng also allocated another 870 million Singapore dollars in support for the aviation sector. Details of the support are scant, but the amount is "significantly larger" than what was set aside in last year's budget, said the DBS analysts."Overall, these measures should help the aviation and tourism sectors weather this crisis, and perhaps emerge stronger vis-à-vis regional and global peers," they said.DBS has a "buy" call on SATS, an aviation catering and airport ground handling firm. It is also bullish on defense and engineering company ST Engineering and has a "buy" call on the stock.Heng announced that "low-value goods" imported into Singapore via air or post will be subject to a goods and services tax starting Jan. 1, 2023.The minister did not specify the definition of "low-value goods" in his speech, but DBS analysts said it could include household products, clothing and cosmetics bought via e-commerce sites. The tax implementation will "increase the consumer's price of online purchases and create a more level playing field between brick and mortar retailers and their online competitors," the analysts explained.Such a development is "positive for retailers (especially brick and mortar shops) as consumers may be less motivated to channel their purchases online," they said, adding that it will help mitigate potential threats to retail real estate investment trusts listed in Singapore.DBS likes the following retail REITs: Frasers Centrepoint Trust, CapitaLand Integrated Commercial Trust and Lendlease Global Commercial REIT.The Singapore government plans to spend 900 million Singapore dollars ($677.56 million) in cash handouts and other assistance for families, Heng announced.Such measures could boost household consumption and benefit grocery retailers such as Sheng Shiong and Dairy Farm, said DBS analysts.Singapore's government will also "enhance" the salaries of nurses and other workers in the public health-care space, said Heng.Details of the salary increases are not yet available, but DBS said the move could put pressure on private health-care companies, such as Raffles Medical and IHH Healthcare, to increase staff costs.Such pressure could come at a time when borders remain shut for foreign patients, an important revenue source for private health care providers in Singapore."That said, Singapore's vaccination efforts and aviation support measures could hasten the relaxation of border restrictions, which could unleash pent-up demand from foreign patients sooner," said the DBS analysts. The bank has a "buy" call on IHH and a "hold" call on Raffles Medical.

Most drivers headed to IndyCar from Europe might not know much about the series, but they know the Indy 500. An event with so much prestige-it's a third of the "triple crown," alongside Le Mans and the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix. Because of this, it might seem surprising for a driver incoming to IndyCar to immediately rule it out of his racing program, but that's exactly what former Haas F1 driver Romain Grosjean has done out of respect for his family. His decision was influenced by the horrifying crash at the Bahrain Grand Prix that nearly cost him life, and has now made him exclude speedways from his 2021 contract with Dale Coyne Racing.Grosjean said he started talking to Coyne before the end of the 2020 F1 season, autel ms919. having announced that Haas F1 wouldn't continue his contract for financial reasons. However, when his horrifying Bahrain Grand Prix crash happened, the distress caused to his family made him re-evaluate whether he was willing to take the risks-or continue racing at all. Grosjean, severely burned, was helped to a stretcher by Formula One's medical team following his Bahrain crashSpeaking to the press as part of his IndyCar announcement yesterday, Grosjean said that immediately following the crash, the first message he received from his manager said to "forget IndyCar." However, he decided to continue with the contract but to exclude both Texas Motor Speedway and Indianapolis from his program. "If I was 25 and single or even with no kids, I would be racing ovals, definitely," said Grosjean in the press conference. "Now it's also a family choice. And on 29th of November 2020, for two minutes and forty-five seconds, three kids thought they had lost their dad and my wife thought she had lost her husband. The idea of putting them back to that situation, really, I can't take it."He had initially intended to contest all the rounds, despite expressing safety concerns about ovals in the past, after talking to fellow former F1 driver Marcus Ericsson (now driving for Chip Ganassi in IndyCar) and being sold on the series. He said yesterday that he was looking forward to Indy's road and street circuits and that they'd been a major appeal of the move, to him, after evaluating other series."I looked at the options that they had and I said 'what I want to do is to go to IndyCar' because I've been watching the races and this series looks super competitive, the car looks fun to drive to see just the old-style [tracks] that I really like."Grosjean, who now runs his own esports team, said he was looking forward to the opportunity to race in places that he'd first raced in Gran Turismo games two decades ago."When you look at Road America, Mid-Ohio, all the street circuits, Laguna Seca - they're part of the circuits that I used to play in video games, 20 years ago. Not good to say that, but 20 years ago," said the 34-year-old French racer. He said Indy and Texas were absolutely ruled out by his responsibilities to his family, despite possibly running Gateway. "The speedways, at the minute no, but I am not saying 100% no to Gateway. We've been speaking with Dale and I've said let's see how the season goes and if we can do some testing on a short track, see how it goes. So it's not a 100% yes or 100% no. But for now, I just need to look after my family in the speedways."It might seem reasonable not to return to racing at all after such a horrible crash, but Grosjean said his family gave their support to him going back. "For the kids and my wife, they understand that I am a racer at heart and that's what I really love doing and that one day I will I will be done with motorsport but it's not quite yet and still have the wish to go racing.""The kids, I got them involved quite a fair bit into the helmet design and choosing the number and so on and they were very happy."Grosjean will do his first IndyCar testing on Feb. 22, wearing a helmet designed by his kids for what was supposed to be his final F1 Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi last year. It features a phoenix design, reflecting his miraculous escape from his burning car.

Unfortunately, there are no new rotary-powered cars for sale today, largely due to emissions regulations. Wankels are typically dirty-running engines, which is why it's taken so long for Mazda to bring one back, even in range-extender form. But none of this means you can't buy a used rotary car to buzz around in. There are still plenty of those-and new rotary parts-around for you to tinker with.If you're tired of seeing FD RX-7s go for stupid amounts of money at auction, well, we've found a barn in Louisiana that you might be a fan of. According to the listing, there are tons of rotary-powered cars stashed inside its walls, so there's bound to be something you'll like.Only a few images of the owner's stock have been posted, and the condition of the cars varies wildly. There are dusty Mazdas, Maxisys ultra Autel. there are destroyed Mazdas, and everything in between. The listing also says there are a few "Rotary Toyotas and Datsuns," which, seeing as neither company ever produced a Wankel engine, must mean they're swapped.A careful look around the images will also reveal a few other non-Mazdas that may or may not be rotary-powered. There's a classic Mini, what looks like a VW Bug, and maybe, just maybe, a Suzuki Samurai stuffed into the back right corner. Forget the cars, though. I wonder if that sweet box fan is for sale...Most of the rotary-powered cars here appear to be first and second-generation RX-7s, also known as the FB and FC, respectively. One of these cars-it looks like an FB-has been redone with a huge widebody kit. It's unclear if it has any other modifications beneath the bulged-out body, but I suppose you'll have to just mask-up and sniff around there to find out. The mask is both because of the pandemic, and what looks like the six-inches of dust covering everything in this barn, of course. If you were asking me what to get here, I would say one of the two Rotary Pickups. They were only made between 1974 and 1977, they look great, they have a bed for all your plywood-carrying needs-I think they're your best bet. I mean, you could try to restore one of the 70 other vehicles in this barn, but some of them look a little far gone. At least the black pickup outside is parked in a driveway, implying it's moved under its own power recently. That's a promising sign.

Tesla Employee May Have Leaked Bitcoin Buy - With Bots? | IE
Editor's Note: In a subsequent interview, the Reddit user claimed that his post was just a hoax. You can read that interview here. Our original article is unchanged and can be read below. A Reddit user who claims to work for Tesla R&D said the company used a bot to buy $800 million in bitcoin over a 72-hour period one month ago, according to their post on Reddit."I am a software dev working at R&D at Tesla in California, over the past 72 hours our company bought 24,701 BTC at an average price of [$]33,142," read the post.If true, this means the word was out on Telsa's bitcoin buy of $1.5 billion in bitcoin. "The way we did it was buying small amounts of BTC every few seconds and big amounts of BTC after a dip of at least 1.5%, autel Maxisys ms909 review. " added the Redditor and alleged Tesla employee in their post. "We did this with a bot, which we developed with Python and NodeJs."Tesla's purchase of $1.5 billion in bitcoin came to light via a 10-K filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) - according to an initial report from Crowdfund Insider.Crypto investors use bots - which are automated software that helps users buy and sell cryptocurrency at the most strategic times - all of the time. But we're unsure how the legalities will play out in the case of a company with the finances of Elon Musk's Tesla."I have no idea what will happen once this reaches the newspapers but I think the price will explode even more," added the alleged Tesla employee in their Reddit post. "Thank me later."When the all-electric vehicle manufacturer's colossal Bitcoin investment went happened, it pushed the price up 7% - causing a surge in value to $43,000 for the first time.Under the initial SEC filing, Tesla said it would "acquire and hold digital assets from time to time or long-term." But if the company bought and sold the cryptocurrency on the small, hyper-strategic timescale of automated bots, this initial filing feels like it's stretching the phrase "time to time."However, Tesla purchased their share of bitcoin, the effect on the cryptocurrency's value continued to rise through Monday - eventually reaching heights of $47,000, which was another all-time high. As of Tuesday morning, the price is at roughly $46,300 per bitcoin.CEO Tesla Elon Musk aims to accept bitcoin as payment for Tesla products, which places the company in league with PayPal - which already allows its customers to buy and sell numerous forms of bitcoin (like ether, litecoin, and bitcoin cash) using its PayPal wallet. The function will also show up in Venmo later this year, according to Yahoo!Finance - which will bring crypto purchases and sales to a second online payment platform.Since the GameStop stock short "squeeze," some experts have come to suspect we've reached an asset bubble, driven by social media users on Reddit and Twitter. The Tesla CEO has issued a flurry of tweets on the GameStock saga, but since the automaker voluntarily recalled nearly 135,000 cars - including Model S sedans and Model X SUVs - only time will tell whether the company is creating its own asset bubble to make up for the recall loss, or if we're seeing something entirely new. This was a breaking story and was regularly updated as new information became available.

Bill Gates Predicts the Next Major Threats Humanity Will Face | IE
Almost six years after taking the stage to warn people of the likelihood of a world pandemic caused by a respiratory virus, Microsoft co-founder and philanthropist Bill Gates has now stated what he believes could be the next two deadly disasters to threaten humanity in an interview with Derek Muller, host of the YouTube channel Veritasium.Reflecting on his famous prediction and talking about how he feels about being right about the pandemic, Gates explained that climate change and bioterrorism could be the next global catastrophes.Bill Gates' 2015 Ted Talk titled "The next outbreak? We're not ready," gained traction in March 2020 after the COVID-19 pandemic brought the world to a halt. Following the prevention of a global outbreak of the Ebola virus in 2014, Gates warned people of a future pandemic and how the world should be well-equipped to tackle it when the time comes.Recently, Maxisys Ultra price. on Feb. 4, Gates joined Derek Muller over a video call, stating he doesn't feel any good about his prophecy. "There is no good feeling that comes with something like this," Gates said, adding that he occasionally looks back and thinks whether he could have been more persuasive. Muller also asked Gates how he precisely predicted a global outbreak back in 2015. Gates explained that with many respiratory viruses existing in the world, it was inevitable that a very infectious one would cause a pandemic at one point. "There are a number of respiratory viruses, and from time to time, one will come along," he said. "Respiratory diseases are very scary because you're still walking around on a plane, a bus when you're infectious; unlike some other diseases like ebola where you are mostly in a hospital bed by the time viral load infects other people." When asked about what could be the next disaster that we are not prepared for, Gates told that he can point out two that fit the bill, voicing his concerns about a possible future that could be even more severe than the current pandemic we are facing. "One is climate change. Every year that would be a death toll even greater than (what) we've had in this pandemic," and carried on to say that he feels like his other prediction is not talked enough: "Bioterrorism. Somebody who wants to cause damage could engineer a virus and that means the cost, the chance of running into this is more than the naturally-caused epidemics like the current one." Muller also enquired Gates about whether humans will be able to stop the next pandemic thanks to the lessons learned in this one. The answer was, sadly, a "no." "There will be more pandemics," Gates said. He stated that he believes another pandemic could still create chaos but remained hopeful that if people learned from the pandemic and adapted, things could take a turn for the better. "We could increase our preparedness so we never have a death toll anywhere near what we have today," Gates said. You can watch the interview down below:

COVID-defying nun toasts 117th birthday with wine and prayer
PARIS (AP) - Question: How does one cram enough candles onto a birthday cake for one of the world's oldest survivors of COVID-19? Answer: With 117 candles, you can't.A French nun who is believed to be the world's second-oldest person celebrated her 117th birthday in style on Thursday, with multiple treats and well-wishes, cards and flowers to fete her exceptional longevity through two world wars and a recent coronavirus infection.Sister André also got a Mass in her honor and a feast with Champagne, red wine and port. Then came a nap followed by more festivities, including an afternoon snack of baked Alaska, Maxisys ultra Autel. her favorite dessert."It made me very, very, very, very happy," the birthday girl said. "Because I met all those I love and I thank the heavens for giving them to me. I thank God for the trouble they went to."Sister André's big day got rolling with a morning video call with her great-nephews and great-great nephews, followed by a Mass in her honor led by the local Catholic bishop, said David Tavella, the communications manager for the care home in the southern French city of Toulon where the nun lives. Her birthday feast included a starter of foie gras, followed by capon with fragrant mushrooms. "All of it washed down with red wine, because she drinks red wine. It's one of her secrets of longevity," Tavella told The Associated Press. There was also port and Champagne "because 117 years have to be toasted," he said. She skipped dessert because she was tired, but got it served to her later after a nap - with three candles and the numerals 117 on top.Packing on 117 candles would have been impossible."We stopped trying a long time ago," Tavella said. "Even if we made big cakes, I'm not sure that she would have enough breath to blow them all out. You would need a fire extinguisher."Sister André's birth name is Lucile Randon. The Gerontology Research Group, which validates details of people thought to be 110 or older, lists her as the second-oldest known living person in the world, behind only an 118-year-old woman in Japan, Kane Tanaka.Tavella told French media earlier this week that Sister André tested positive for the coronavirus in mid-January but she had so few symptoms that she didn't even realize she was infected. Her survival made headlines both in France and beyond."When the whole world suddenly started talking about this story, I understood that Sister André was a bit like an Olympic flame on a ‘round the world tour that people want to grab hold of, because we all need a bit of hope at the moment," Tavella said. When Tavella talked to her Thursday about celebrating her next birthday in 2022, she replied: "I won't be here next year," he quoted her as saying, adding: "But she has been saying that for 10 years."By strange coincidence, Tavella celebrated his 43rd birthday on Thursday."We often joke that she and I were born on the same day," he said. "I never tell myself that she is 117 because she is so easy to talk to, regardless of age. It is only when she talks about World War I as though she lived through it that I realize, 'Yes, she did live through it!'"___Leicester reported from Le Pecq, France

Behind dahmakan’s Drastic Decision To Drop The Healthy Food Image & Revamp As Pop Meals
After dahmakan first started out, they remained a healthy gourmet delivery F&B brand for 6 years up until their rebranding late last year to Pop Meals.Across the years, the team's business model has proven attractive to investors, sweeping in 7 to 8-figure funding in their pre-series A, series A, and series B funding rounds. These rounds came from global investors like the billion-dollar Silicon Valley fund Partech Partners, China's UpHonest Capital, Korean food delivery unicorn Woowa Brothers, Maxisys ms919. and even the former CEO of Nestlé Germany. They also expanded into Thailand in 2018 after acquiring Polpa, an end-to-end healthy food delivery startup. All these events scaled up their capacity to lower their prices and add more locations. However, in efforts to capture a larger market, they decided to rebrand to Pop Meals."Rebranding has been on our mind since 2019 when we saw how excited our customer base was with the new direction of our menu," Jessica, the co-founder of Pop Meals, shared with Vulcan Post."We felt that the previous dahmakan brand didn't capture everything that the product now has to offer: more affordable, more exciting and popular foods at more locations than when we first started.""Our internal operations are still the same, we create recipes, cook our own food, build our own tech and operate our own outlets and deliveries," she said.Currently, they're still focusing on the existing businesses they have locally and in Thailand because of the pandemic, but they won't be ruling out any new opportunities internationally for later this year.As for their menu, some of their popular dishes remain, whereas the less popular ones were replaced with new dishes. The price of their meals ranges from RM11.99 to RM18.88 as of now. From what we can see, the price range of their meals hasn't changed drastically, if we're using dahmakan's salted egg butter chicken dish (RM14.99) and Pop Meals' Golden Salted Egg Butter Chicken (RM14.99 also) as reference. What's new is that on their site and the app, they also rank their meals like 95% would order this again on each food. Jessica thinks is a big jump from traditional F&B concepts that are simply centred around a particular cuisine or chef.Though they no longer include nutritional value details, they'd include nutritional notes to specify if the meal has allergens like nuts, crustaceans, dairy, etc. On top of that, they also added an ingredients list for each of these meals.Besides the price and menu change, the team has also moved into the offline space."One of the biggest changes to this existing business model that we saw was an opportunity to become even more accessible to a larger audience, so with the rebranding, we've launched our first offline store concept that includes dine-in and takeaway options," Jessica said."We realised that a large percentage of the population was still looking for affordable dine-in and takeaway options. Hence, having an offline presence gives us an opportunity to become even more convenient and closer to our customers."Now, pivoting from a healthy food brand to serving popular meals may not be the best news for fans who stayed with them all these years because of that branding. However, it may be fair to say that healthy food in general still isn't as appealing to the larger Malaysian population, so the pivot is aligned with the brand's goal of servicing a larger market. In fact, Jessica said that their existing customers have been very supportive of the rebranding and found the menu expansion and more convenient service refreshing."Especially if they were customers from early 2015 when they had to pre-order a week ahead and only had 2 menu choices," she added.Currently, their only Pop Meals concept store can be found in Cyberjaya, but the team's plan for 2021 is to roll out more of them across Peninsular Malaysia.Featured Image Credit: Jessica Li, co-founder of Pop MealsThe post Behind dahmakan's Drastic Decision To Drop The Healthy Food Image & Revamp As Pop Meals appeared first on Vulcan Post.

Epic’s new MetaHuman tool lets you craft realistic faces inside a browser
Epic Games has announced a new, browser-based software tool powered by its Unreal Engine called the MetaHuman Creator that can craft highly realistic human faces and help power more realistic body movements and facial animations. Epic provided a sneak peek at the platform today in a pair of YouTube videos showing off examples of creations built using the MetaHuman Creator, and "metahuman" appears to be the term the company is using to describe this brand of virtual, non-real individual.Epic says the MetaHuman Creator can be used in conjunction with modern motion capture and animation techniques for creating lifelike movements and human interactions scenes built for video games, film, TV, and other formats. The company says these photorealistic humans can be generated in a matter of minutes and equipped with unique hairstyles and clothing, and then they can be tailored further to meet the needs of a production. And these "metahumans" can be manipulated in real time within the tool itself and just using a web browser, Epic says."Up until now one of the most arduous tasks in 3D content creation has been constructing truly convincing digital humans. Even the most experienced artists require significant amounts of time, effort, and equipment, just for one character," said Vladimir Mastilovic, Epic's vice president of digital humans technology, in a statement. "After decades of research and development, and thanks to bringing companies like 3Lateral, Cubic Motion, and Quixel into the Epic family, that barrier is being erased through Unreal Engine, and we're thrilled to introduce MetaHuman Creator."The humans created with Epic's new tool don't approach the photorealism of, say, the digitally rendered photographs of fake people produced by generative adversarial networks, which is the AI technique underpinning projects like "This Person Does Not Exist."But as a kind of supercharged video game character creation tool, MetaHuman Creator does seem capable of making some shockingly realistic-looking people that could easily pass for a real-life motion captured actor. Though perhaps we'd need to wait to see what the tool is truly capable of in the hands of third-party creators before making a verdict on whether it escapes the uncanny valley. It's not clear when Epic intends to release MetaHuman Creator outside a broad 2021 release window, but interested developers and artists can sign up for updates on the Unreal Engine website.

Toyota hikes profit forecast 54%, shrugs off global chip supply issues
TOKYO (Reuters) -Toyota Motor Corp on Wednesday jacked up its full-year earnings forecast by a bigger-than-expected 54% to a record $19 billion, raising its vehicle sales target as global demand led by China rebounds from a coronavirus pandemic-induced slump.Unlike other automakers, including Japanese peers Nissan Motor and Honda Motor, that have had to cut production because of semiconductor shortages, the world's biggest automaker said it is raising output.Shares in Toyota, the world's biggest automaker by vehicle sales, rose 2.3% after the new forecasts were released. The automobile industry has been grappling with a chip shortage since the end of last year, which has in some cases been exacerbated by the former U.S. administration's sanctions on Chinese chip factories. But the maker of the RAV4 SUV crossover and the Prius gasoline hybrid said it expects to sell 9.73 million vehicles this year, Maxisys ms909. up 3.3% from a previous forecast of 9.42 million, if down from last year's 10.46 million."For the near term, we do not see any decrease in production volume due to the chip shortage, but we do see risks of a chip shortage," said Chief Financial Officer Kenta Kon, speaking during a briefing."We hear voices saying that chip shortage might continue until summer. But maybe it will not continue until then and it might resolve (itself) at an earlier stage."For the fiscal year ending March 31, Toyota now expects a record operating profit of 2 trillion yen ($19.13 billion), far higher than an earlier prediction of 1.3 trillion yen, and well above an average 1.542 trillion yen profit forecast based on predictions from 23 analysts, Refinitiv data shows. It now expects the yen to trade at 105 yen against the U.S. dollar, versus a previous forecast of 106 yen.Toyota said operating profit rose to 987.9 billion yen in the three months ended Dec. 31. This easily beat an estimated average of 565.51 billion yen profit from nine analysts surveyed by Refinitiv SmartEstimate.($1 = 104.5700 yen)(Reporting by Eimi Yamamitsu; Writing by Tim Kelly; Editing by Kenneth Maxwell)

These rounds came from global investors like the billion-dollar Silicon Valley fund Partech Partners, China's UpHonest Capital, autel Maxisys ms909. Korean food delivery unicorn Woowa Brothers, and even the former CEO of Nestlé Germany. NEW Lotus Elise Sport 240 - The LAST EVER Elise: Track Review | Carfection 4K - YouTube
In this era of cars only getting heavier, the Lotus Elise and its hardtop Exige variant may just be more relevant than ever. However, with sales figures hardly confirming this view, Lotus is now ready to move on with a new line of combustion sports cars. The Type 131 is set to replace both the Elise/Exige and the more mature Evora, and while the larger car is still available in America in GT form, in other markets, Maxisys Ultra price. Lotus is ending the Elise's 25- and the Exige's 21-year career with the five new models, badged as the Final Editions. More power at 240 horses already in base Elise Sport 240 tune, along with 10-spoke Anthracite lightweight forged alloy wheels, a new TFT image cluster, quality Alcantara at all the touchpoints, and of course the always crisp six-speed manual with its exposed linkage. Starting at £45,500 in the U.K. and €56,500 in Germany, the Final Edition range includes the Elise Sport 240 and Cup 250, as well as the Exige Sport 390, 420, and Exige Cup 430 models. Price-wise, that is on pair with a four-cylinder 718 Cayman. For the entry-level Elise with the touring suspension, the recipe has hardly changed since 1996. Well past two decades on the market, the current car doubles the juice with a four-cylinder engine supercharged to 240 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque, which results in a zero-to-60 run of 4.1 seconds, and a top speed of 147 mph. Thanks to its revolutionary extruded bonded aluminum chassis that later also made the first Tesla Roadster possible, the Elise Sport is a 2,052-pound affair, while the Cup weighs in at 2,032 pounds, or at 1,979 with all the optional carbon fiber panels, lithium-ion battery, and polycarbonate rear window.Keeping that track-happy specification in mind, Carfection's Henry Catchpole would argue that all the base Elise needs in 2021 is the optional sport seat package, just four a touch of extra support through the perfectly executed corners. You will hear more about both the Elise, the Exige, and the excellent Evora in 2021 before production would come to an end, all while Lotus Cars gears up to produce its 1,973-horsepower Evija electric hypercar, team up with Alpine for a smaller EV, develop the much-anticipated Type 131 with a combustion engine, and launch an electric SUV that's set to play the same sales hero role as the V8 DBX from Aston Martin. As clever lightweight engineering has to battle global homologation rules set for the future, it's safe to say that there won't ever be a sports car as basic and versatile as the Elise, the small glove-like Lotus that reached perfection for its final year. If you live in such a place, just grab one while you can.For other locations, there's the Evora, now also in its final year.

Hyundai “not having talks“ with Apple on self-driving car
On a scale of 1 to 5, how passionate and enthusiastic are you about cars?A potential landmark tie-up betweenApple and Hyundai Motor Group (HMG)appears to be off the table after the manufacturer said it's no longer in talks with the tech giant.Shares in HMG rocketed 20% in early January as it emerged the two firms were considering sharing autonomous electric vehicle development, with Kia mooted as a potential production partner for the long-awaited Apple car, but Hyundai was quick to clarify that it was in talks with "various companies".Now, autel Maxisys Ultra review. in an update to investors, HMG has clarified the situation: "We're receiving requests for co-operation in joint development of autonomous electric vehicles from various companies, but they're at early stage and nothing has been decided. We aren't having talks with Apple on developing autonomous vehicles."Shares in Hyundai dropped 6.2% in the wake of the announcement, amounting to a loss of around $3 billion in value, while Kia - which had been named specifically in the reports - was more dramatically impacted, losing 15% ($5.5bn).The Korean company had previously confirmed reports that it was in talks with Apple to co-develop a self-driving electric car by 2027, shortly after Apple itself had publicly renewed its intention to launch its own bespoke car. With HMG now out of the picture, it remains unclear where Apple will turn for assistance with the project. The Apple car will likely make use of the company's own 'monocell' battery technology, which is said to offer greater capacity than conventional units, but the company isn't believed to have developed a platform for the vehicle. We and our partners store and/or access information on your device, mostly in the form of cookies, and process your data for the different purposes listed below.
