I’m not saying bucktommy will go the distance, in fact probably not for writer reasons, but I am saying that if they did want to do that, he’s actually an ideal choice. They made sure to establish his positive (now) relationship with several people important in Buck’s life prior to starting anything romantical with Buck. He actually seems to fit into Buck’s life well, or at least have the potential to. He’s already friends with Buck’s soon-to-be brother-in-law, he’s becoming good friends with Buck’s bestie, he’s in the same line of work so from a character perspective he understands the demands, and from a practical perspective it makes it easy for him to pop up every now and again without having to carve out special time for it in an episode. They didn’t fuck up and have Buck cheat with him and start it off on a bad note that was always going to be ill-received by the fandom. Like. I do still very much ship Buddie, I just don’t really think it’s going to actually happen (though I am always open to being wrong). So short of that, when it comes to giving Buck a proper long-term love interest, Tommy does check a lot of boxes, from a fan perspective, and also from a showrunning perspective. I’m interested to see how it goes.

The first four seasons of Shameless remain some of my favorite episodes of television. The remaining six seasons are mostly a miss with a couple moments of greatness. I will say that the last season ended well.

Apparently some Kanthony fans are upset because they think their ship won’t be a focus in the third season. Well duh.

The main focus will be Penelope and Colin as Kate & Anthony were the focus of season two.

Kate & Anthony will still get screen time but it will not be to the extent it was last season.

Simon broke up with Wilhelm.

Do I think it was because he couldn’t handle Wille’s outburst? No, I don’t.

I think he couldn’t handle seeing Wille in so much pain and being powerless to help.

I also think he had been starting to realize that the chains that were starting to hold him down from being with a Monarch were just too much to bear.

Simon was right to break free. Even if it cost him his relationship.

Relationships are hard but they shouldn’t be that hard.

As far as Wille goes, I think he took a huge step towards gaining his emotional independence. Towards healing. He’s no longer willing to play their games. Maybe he won’t abdicate. Maybe he’ll stay part of the Monarchy. Maybe he’ll be the one to change it even more than he already has. Maybe not. Maybe those seeds of rebellion he sowed when he came out to the world will be his only contribution. But make no mistake, what he did took an enormous amount of courage even if we may never see the outcome.

One more episode to go.

I really hate the sentiment that love shouldn’t be hard when they really mean that being in a relationship shouldn’t be hard.

Which is bullshit.

Being in a relationship is hard.

Should it be toxic? No.

Should it be abusive? No.

Should it always be like fighting an uphill battle? No.

But it is hard. Relationships aren’t easy and to pretend like they should be is setting yourself and your relationship up for failure.
