Dear Avatar fandom: FandomWire is a longtime KNOWN clickbait site that makes stuff up for... clicks. They have for years. Their story about Netflix live-action ATLA (whitewashing, aging up, and sexualizing the characters) is fake. They have no source.

This guy is the originator:

He was on a big YouTube channel until he was fired for sexual harassment and attempted sexual assault. He then started his own channel where he posts clickbait lies like the ones spreading about ATLA today.

Please tread the internet with a little more care. Clickbait works by enticing people with content they think they want to see, and that content can be 100% fake. The ONLY goal is to get you on the page so that they get the ad revenue.

By spreading this fake news, you're putting money in the pocket of someone fired for sexual harassment and attempted sexual assault. He was fired from his real job and now he makes money this way, and FandomWire is in on it too.

Notice how he literally took the theories people were most worried about and said they were real? This guaranteed that the most people would click the article and video, your worst fears come true!

I would simply advise everyone to delete anywhere they've spread this, and relax. We'll know what's up with the show when we know.

I think it's important to stop this because this kind of social media outrage and trending hashtags and everything easily becomes a real news story on big websites, and then this guy will be making 100x more money. Let's not make that happen.

Im an archie comics fan and did not like what they did to them. Archie wasn't dark and gritty so i get it would suck if the rumors of aging up, and sex were true cause. Blech

i love zutara, a lot, and while i am so skeptical on the live action atla(before and after bryke announced their departure), i would be lying if i said that apart of me wasn’t a little excited at the possibility of zutara being explored.

that being said, i am not a fan of how as soon as they announced they were leaving production, everyone turned it into a issue about ships. like are we forgetting that avatar was a phenomenal show, with or without the ships?

im not worried about what will be canon and what won’t be canon regarding relationships, im more worried about the actual story being butchered. netflix, and tv in general, has a bad history with live action remakes, and a horrible history with oversexualizing minors. avatar is an amazing show, and i don’t want them to dumb it down to some riverdale-esque type show with the oversexualization of teenage girls and love triangles. (also whitewashing)

it is so much more than that. and yeah, i am excited about the possibility of seeing my favorite ship become canon, but not at the expense of everything that’s good about it. i did stop trusting bryke after i found out how they handled things regarding the show years ago, but while they could have left over shipping differences or whatever, they were still a very large part of avatar.

I act like sokka more than katara however he did once say whenever he thinks of his mom he sees katara instead

and katara lashed out after aang compared her to jet and sokka agreeing with him so no one was really being that reasonable

okay but why is sokka treated so poorly in the southern raiders? like zuko straight up ignores sokka’s feelings and obvious emotional pain when they’re talking about his mom’s death?? and then the next morning we see katara tell sokka that he didn’t love their mom like she did???

For me the symbolism and importance of bloodbending is that Katara has always viewed fire and water as opposites, “water is cool and soothing,” whereas fire is destructive.

Bloodbending forced her to wrestle with the ways a waterbender can be evil and a fire nation citizen can be innocent.

That’s why Katara is able to forgive Zuko and accept him as part of their group. She recognizes herself in him and him in her.

(This is also another reason Zutara should’ve been canon but anywayyyyyyyyyyyyy)
