Joshua appearing in the window of Neku’s apartment on his birthday, extending to him one of his feathers: “I gave this to an alternate you as a reward for surviving, but I wanted you to have it as a reward for living… and this way a part of me will always be with you.”
This one isn't mine, but it's one of my favourites. When haning out together, Sollux and Karkat look for every little excuse to touch each other without actually acknowledging it.
It’s the things that go unsaid that speak the loudest, and anyone can see that Karkat and Sollux are masters of betraying themselves through action.
It’s as if they’re magnetically attracted to each other.
“God, KK, you can’t code for shit.” Sollux leans over Karkat, chest pressing against the troll’s back, spindling arms reaching around him to key in the necessary text and correct his line.
Inevitably Sollux winds up sitting in his lap because there is too much to show him and fuck standing.
Karkat nuzzles his chin into the crook of the psionic’s shoulder, nestling into his friend and drumming his fingers against Sollux’s belly.
-
“Game time, asshole.” Sollux plops down, Karkat sits beside him, and they deliberately scoot closer until their hips touch.
When one loses, the other claps him on the shoulder, smothers his face with his hand or flicks his nose.
They pass the soda back and forth, fingers lingering.
When they tire of gaming, they relocate to the couch. There, they lay at opposite ends so their legs entangle, their feet poking and prodding each other’s. When Karkat gets drowsy (he is always the first to drop) he’ll climb over Sollux and lay heavily across his lanky frame.
Sollux complains about his weight but does nothing to move him.
Their joined hands dangle off the couch as Karkat drifts.
When he jerks from his dozing, Sollux affectionately bumps their horns together before making some offhanded comment that sours Karkat and spirals into yet another nothing-argument.
Even as they bicker, their hands never once leave each other.
the ship doesn’t have to be “healthy” to be enjoyable, especially as something to explore from different narrative angles
e.g. why are they Like That, how did they get there, is there a road to redemption, how far can they spiral, who fixes who, who makes the other worse. it’s! okay! it’s! fun!
