Hello chums it is me, Blenchy. I'm an Illustrator based in Sheffield, UK trying to find my feet in the creative world. Please have a look around! Currently working as Animation and VR technician
So a while ago I bought some dusty old 60s children's guitar... finally got around to making it a little more presentable and playable. Its also a Ukulele now. Also did some Illustration to sketch out a design for it.
Been a long time since my last post but quite a lot has happened! And amongst all the excitement of getting a job at the university I studied at, I've built myself a nice little lap steel guitar
Overall I'm happy with how it's turned out, lots went wrong but lots was learnt!
Thoroughly enjoyed exploring luthiery alongside my career as an illustrator. This project weaved itself in-between commissions, instrument repairs, temp work and my new job.
Been thinking about the next build and it's looking likely to be a lapsteel! So here are a few doodles, accidentally drew the electronics on the wrong side but oh well.
Another more challenging restoration now somewhat complete! This lovely English made banjo was too good to possibly sell on. So I'm absolutely keeping it.
Sadly the celluloid tuner button is proving impossible to replace with anything remotely similar so it's being left for the time being. Don't want to remove the original tuners and replace all 5 with something uniform.
My first proper instrument restoration! This lovely #banjolele was looking quite a bit worse for wear when I got it. I'm really happy with how it turned out!
To my knowledge its british made by the George Houghton company of Birmingham sometime before 1962.
Very proud to announce that a second book I've illustrated has been published! A very fun book to work on with a very passionate author!
The book is about the authors journey from atheist to Socialist Christian. With glimpses of how folk music and politics made him a loving left-wing Christian.
