When I was younger I used to find such solace in storybooks, in novels. At times I was a very lonely child without even realising. Then books were a home. Then books were a remedy. I did not worry about any of the things I worry about now. I was not distractible, I did not seek out to determine the value of things - I did them because I enjoyed them - that was ‘the value’ but I was hardly conscious of it. Now it has all reversed, I feel conscious of everything and I yet I do hardly anything. I cannot ingrain myself in a book. I read half and think my time could be better spent elsewhere. Always I think there is not enough time and yet I am halfway wasting it. There is no peace, there is no peace -

I’ve posted my writing for so long online for free for public consumption, I genuinely want nothing in return other than for it not to be stolen and mis-credited, for somebody to pretend it’s their own is so demoralising - to see it appear in front of you attributed to somebody else - this came from my life, was inspired by unwritten emotions that are erased when you remove my name - it isn’t about credit it is so much more. If you call yourself a ‘curator’ but never create anything you may never understand how it feels to have a piece of your life presented to you as an alien thing, introduced to you as somebody else’s, as if you had not sat through it yourself, as if it was not yours.

Did your guys’ parents exhibit affection (openly or otherwise) with each other when you were growing up? If so how?

Hey Sue! Have you ever read any of Ursula K Le Guin's books? If so, what did you think?
Hey! I haven’t but she’s definitely on my radar - mostly her essays though! I’m open to reading her Earthsea series too, I’ll let you know if I do :)

Hi Sue ❣️ your writing is very dear to me, and I have a special place in my heart for everything you post, I admire you very much ❣️ I've been looking for one of your experts lately, I can't find it anywhere and I was wondering if you could help me, if it's okay with you! ❤️ I don't recall the exact words, but it was about a person telling someone the reason why they started to go to therapy. I would love to read it again if it doesn't bother you, and thank you for being your wonderful self ❤️
Hi my love! I’ve just reblogged it :) ❤️ Thank you for your lovely message, have a lovely day wherever you are :)

Google search suggestion: how to stop taking things so seriously and letting tiny inconveniences ruin your life

hey sue! i hope this message finds you well. i wanted to ask if you’ve ever gone through a breakup where you know it’s turned toxic and that there’s nothing left, or hardly anything left, but for some reason, neither of the people involved can let go of the relationship? no matter how hard i try she comes like a boomerang and i’m eager to catch it.
thank you, for now i’ll find comfort in your past works.
Hi my love, sometimes the more traumatic the relationship the more difficult it is to let go.
It is a combination of things - the breaking and healing process, the combination of stress and relief, it is all (mistaken for) love - or at least fosters a dependency. It is the thought that you have been through so much together - the knowledge that you have given so much of yourself - the worry that you’ll never recover or be the same way again or be able to love anybody else with the same love.
We all look back on bad relationships and wish we had left earlier. But the truth is, most of the time we only leave when we feel finally able to. To say “I spent too much time with them” is to deny the reality that, even where there is no good love left, there may still be love; there may still be familiarity or need. It is not human to be able to disentangle easily.
What I’m trying to say is, it won’t be easy - leaving never is. Breaking up never is. Don’t expect it to be! There will never come a day, no matter how exhausted you become, no matter how exasperated, where you will leave her happily. Not if part of you love(d) her. But that doesn’t mean you should stay. None of that is a good enough reason to stay.
