Watching my tumblr dash right now is so weird, there are jaded thirty-somethings posting memes and excuding sarcasm and dry disappointment worthy of Granny Weatherwax and Sam Vimes. These are the folk who started off fresh faced babies of fandom, they used to play in the park innocently create Superwholock content and gifsets and defend their fandom to inappropriate lenghts and start dashcon and now they’re all smoking cigarettes and drinking whiskey straight and not shaving and shrugging their shoulders.

“That’s life,” they’re saying. “You get queerbaited for fifteen years and then die on a rusty nail,” they’re saying.

Yknow, I didn’t think I was going to be ready for the channel to end. But I was. And it was beautiful. It was the most beautiful experience I have ever had the pleasure of being a part of. There were 1.5 *million* people. Some, like me, were ready. Others weren’t. And that’s okay. Because even if it was just a YouTube channel, it gave us hope. We fell in love with it. And when something or someone you love is gone, you’re allowed to grieve. No matter how small. It taught us that we have to do the most with the time we’re given, no matter what life throws at us. So thank you, Mark and Ethan, for making 2020 a good year somehow. Memento Mori, Unus Annus.
