This weekend's d&d session, my Beast Master Ranger/ Shepherd Druid was able to perform a large ritual spell called Awakening on her companion Nox and give him the intelligence of a human and capable of speech. I'm so excited to see how this turns out in the next session, but as a 30th birthday present to myself I worked on drawing this ritual.

It took some time to figure out what 1000 gold worth of Agate looks like, in and out of game 😂

The real magic behind Christmas!

Most of us know the stories of Santa Claus and how he magically visits every child in one night to deliver presents all across the world. It was kind of just accepted that he could, but in passing we do hear about the elusive and supportive Mrs. Claus.

Now as I've gotten older, I learn more and more about powerful women in history getting overlooked and usually behind more charismatic male personalities. I've also been witnessing a huge resurgence in recognition of these women their contribution to our lives and strength. (I promise this is relevant)

As a fantasy artist, I've spent so much time focusing on improving my drawing skills, I finally took the time to think on the stories I want to tell. For my first one in recent days, I want to tell you the story of my Mrs. Claus.

Mr. Claus, St. Nick, Santa, and many other nomenclatures throughout history, is the face of Christmas here in the United States. He's in most classic Christmas music, frequently found in decorations, and often you can find a plate of cookies left out for him Christmas eve in the average home. However, I found it challenging to believe that not only was his the face and the labor of Christmas, but also found himself able to create the magic needed to do everything in one evening, by himself for centuries?

No, it is my belief he has a partner, someone powerful enough to focus on creating magical Christmas miracles, and slowing time and allowing St. Nick to generate happiness for everyone worldwide and be the face of Christmas- because his loving wife is a powerful witch.

Now I know, witches are the last thing you think of around Christmas, but there are relevancies of paganism in this beloved Holiday. I never understood why it had to be one or the other, when some of the most amazing things are combinations. Christmas trees, holiday dinners... So this art piece is my ode to maybe one of the most overlooked witches in holiday history, Mrs. Claus the Christmas Witch. I think every Christmas Miracle is a lovely side effect of her powers at work in the holiday season.

Its okay if you don't believe in her, but every year there's always just a hint of magic in the air. I think its her way of looking out for us, even after we long stop believing in magic and Santa Claus....
