Here are all of the statues added to my collection in 2022. I am now down to one single licensed and one custom pre-order, and I have two kits that I will be painting next spring/summer (Captain Britain and a brown costume Wolverine). One more quick shot of Nightcrawler before I put him in his forever home. I think this statue turned out quite well. In some ways I’m surprised they didn’t brand this as a maquette like Rogue and Gambit. Here are my quick thoughts: PROS: • classic suit • dynamic scene with awesome base • Will Harbottle nails pretty much every piece he works on (Sentinel hand originally sculpted by @keosmasons Marco Plouffe). • Great colours on the BAMF smoke. CONS: • The seams on the base…really bad. Some more thought could have gone into the engineering to avoid this issue. • Plastic swords look and feel cheap. Why did I tear apart my $$$$ statue? As awesome as the Queen Studios Venom bust is, it has some issues. The mouth is formed with multiple pieces (the upper teeth, lower teeth, and the two stringy cheek pieces)…meaning seams! The factory did not properly fill in the seams at the corners of the lower jaw, leading to cracks forming. Once I removed the clear goop in these areas, you can see how huge the gap is. The original clear goop was difficult to remove just in the corners of the mouth, so I actually had to remove it along the entire lower jaw. I spent some time the last few days filling in and resculpting the seams, and repainting to match. Then I re-applied the clear goop using a UV resin.
