A customer drove into Bobby Likis Car Clinic/PreRepair® today with two things sputtering: her and her A/C. The cabin air filter in her Lexus RX was virtually “game over” with debris that not only stopped her A/C from doing its job, but also affected the quantity and quality of air that she breathed. YUCK!

TERRY’S TUNE-UP TIP
Just this week, several customers asked me what a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) is. With all the recent media attention, most consumers know if their vehicles are affected by a general recall, but you may not know the information found in TSBs specific to your vehicle.
The biggest difference between a recall and a TSB is that NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) does not mandate or require a fix for vehicles under a TSB condition. Further, unlike recalls, fixes outlined in TSBs are not free of charge to the consumer. TSBs are issued by car manufacturers, detailing a diagnosis and fix for a known concern or difficult repair. TSBs are not always related to software updates of on-board computer systems, but, rather, to any system on the vehicle from radiator fan operation to taillight brightness.
One of the jobs of a professional automotive technician is finding these TSBs and determining if/how they relate to the problems you may be experiencing with your own vehicle, so that’s the proper procedures can be executed in the most cost-effective way. TSBs are good things for vehicle owners as the information contained therein could possibly save you hundreds of dollars in diagnostic testing time and repairs…dollars which would be well invested in maintenance or PreRepair® services your vehicle may need.
