In all fairness, I felt that it was appropriate to piggyback my last post and follow up with :
7 Tips for Preparing Your Meditation Space
1. Choose a space that feels good to your body and soul.
I strive keep my entire home peaceful and serene but as afore mentioned, my space is located on my patio in my backyard.
My favorite place to connect with the universe and nature, is ironically, in nature. Both my patio and backyard garden have provided so much peace that I didn't know I needed. So respectfully, my sacred space has been established there. I like to include all of the elements as well, earth (plants), air (wind/breath), fire (incense/candle), and water (in the form of tea or just plain filtered water).
Find a space in your home that is not highly trafficked or disturbed to create the aura for your meditation space.
2. Found your space? Now, Keep that shit clean!!
“Clutter around us will have us feeling more cluttered in our minds.” -Salzburg
Eliminate distractions (music, phone, televisions, and people). Give each of your senses something pure and clean to return to when your meditation time is over.
3. Provide your booty with the comfort it needs.
If you're not comfortable, then you're opening the door for distraction.
You don't want to spend the majority of your time wondering if you're going to be paying for unnecessary pain later.
Pillows, blankets, a chair or bean bags are great alternatives to the meditation pouf I shared in my previous post.
Sitting comfortably helps to remove pressure from your knees and hips.
4. Lighting is just as important in you meditation as it is for your selfie.
Natural light is ideal. If you're meditating at night, moonlight or the light from a candle, adds an essence that is indescribable!
5. Bring nature into your space
Studies show nature is soothing and healing, so bring some element of nature into your space. “I like to have something that embodies each of the four elements
6. Personalize your space
Add inspiring art pieces or decor to your space. If you want to be fancy, put together a small altar or table for your candle, incense, crystals or ancestral offerings.
Make it your own with whatever items that are meaningful or represent peace and mindfulness to you.
7. Make it smell nice with a beautiful aroma
The sens of smell is one of the most powerful senses that we were created with. Whether it’s aromatic candles, incense sticks or essential oils, using a fragrance can help usher in the experience.
8. Make sure there is something in your space that you can take on the go with you.
Sometimes, we just don't have the opportunity to meditate at home. Even though travel isnt curre you a thing and has been cancelled, if you do have to separate from your space for a few days, make sure your space has something that you can take along with you. Something that is special and reminds you of your space. It could be a picture, essential oil or a journal. Having something familiar in your sacred space, will make your experience easier to transition and settle into, even if you're away from it.
I hope these tips help you in creating your space!

Yo!! A lot has been going on! The pandemic decided to make herself comfortable and overstay her unwelcome. Working from home has been quite the adventure but my anxiety has been on umpteen. 🤪
Meditation has really been my saving grace from my cabin fever. If you're an extrovert like myself, then you can relate.
So, in honor of launching meditations LIVE on IG and in a peaceful effort to keep it together, I've put together...
8 Easy Steps to Prepare for Your Morning Meditation
1. Wash your face. Brush your teeth and make your bed.
Meditation is a part of my everyday morning routine. I usually start my morning with some green tea, my vitamins, and a workout. Afterwards, I take care of myself by wiping the crusties outta my eyes and making sure my breath is in order before I go breathing fire into the universe and inhaling the ash it sends back.
If you live alone or are single, then it shouldn't be too much of a problem to make your bed. But my husband sleeps in, and I usually wake up centuries before him. Therefore, making the bed isn't apart of my routine. (And I'm low-key grateful for him being a night owl. Making the bed is not an area of forte for me.)
2. Put on something comfortable clothes so you you can enjoy and observe the blood and oxygen circulating through your body.
I am a total advocate for being cute while doing whatever it is I'm doing but, when it comes to my meditation, I'm not trying to impress. I love being in my wore down, ragged and grungy tees and shorts. Nothing says comfort like a tee that's been through the midst of it all. It's your preference but, imma be comfortable.
3. Straighten up your space.
For the life of me, I cannot stand clutter when I wake up. I try to clean up a little before bed, but being married to Night Hawk's assistant doesn't always serve me well. For my own sanity and peace of mind, I try to make sure to declutter the common areas in my home. Even though my meditation space is in my backyard, on the patio, I keep that space; my sacred space, as clean as possible. Since watering my plants and our garden is also apart of my routine, I include those moments in my preparation for morning meditation as well.
*If you have pets, this is a good time to tend to them as well, so hat you meditation will less likely be interrupted.
*If you have little ones, I would recommend waking up a little earlier to have this time, or begin to incorporate this into your little ones' routine as well. (Stay tuned for tips on getting kiddos started with meditation!)
4.Put your phone on silent or do not disturb so that you won’t be easily disturbed or distracted.
I'm extremely guilty of waking up and getting on Twitter. Don't be like me. 🙋🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️. I wake up entirely too early. Most of the time before sun. Idk why I think anyone else is up being social, just because I am. Either way, try your best not to get too deep into your phone before your meditation.
Sometimes those tiny impulses of media consumption can cloud the intention of your meditation.
5. Find a comfortable seat on a cushion or chair.
Now this is the most important tip of the whole ENTIRE post...maybe.
After nearly a decade of sitting on the floor, criss-cross applesauce with toddlers, teaching preschool... My booty can't take it no more‼️ Find yourself a soft cushy pillow, OR SOMETHING, to park that thang on.
You want to be as comfortable as possible to stay focused and illiminate potential pain distraction. ( Stay tuned for a post about Pain meditation SOON!)
Here's a link to my recent meditation pouf purchase.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07W99LM7V/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_PG0fFb4ZZE8D4
6. Light incense or an aromatic candle to invite light into your space, symbollically.
TBH I go through incense like Americans went throught toilet paper at the beginning of the quarantine.
I burn them 3-5 times a day depending on the vibrations and energy I receive from my surroundings. My favorites are Patchouli, Dragon's Blood and Lotus.
7. Set up your timer.
If you're using your phone as a timer, try setting it for vibrate. Nothing annoys me more than coming out of a peaceful endeavor, to the sound of the cuckoo or the blaring alarm sound from your phone's alarm presets.
You can also try setting your timer to calming meditation music or nature sounds to make a smooth transition back to your space.
8. Take a few cleansing breaths, in and out through your nose, to calm yourself before you start.
On special occasions, I use these breaths to choose cards from my tarot deck or read my horoscope. I do this to establish and/or reevaluate my intentions or my mantras for my meditation.
If you're just starting out, it can be difficult to just dive in.
Take a few moments before starting the timer to calm yourself, to settle in and relax into your breathing.
Remember that meditation is a lifelong practice. Some days, you'll be able to dive right in. Other days, it will seem like you're just waiting for the timer to hurry up and go off so that you can go about your day.
Establish your routine and be as patient in this process as you would any other.

Why I NEEDED the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Quarantine... 8 Ways the Pandemic put Life into Perspective...
"If you don't come out of this with a new skill..." blah Blah..BLAH! Whatever. Look, Here's the thing. Some of us have been running ourselves into the deep end since birth. I exaggerate but NO!
..and DON'T COME FOR those of us who used this inconvenience to pause reset and re-align our lives. So before anyone asks what "new skill" you "learned" during the quarantine... Don't feel bad for saying these 8 things.. because i surely do not feel bad about.
1.Quality Time with my S/O-
My husband and I have been married for nearly 6 years.. and because we were in the middle of our life grind when we tied the knot, naturally, we did not go on a "honeymoon," and have yet to do so to this day. (Yes we've gone on trips but not an actual honeymoon.) We were more focused on my husband getting settled in his career, me finishing school, getting rid of debt and buying a home. Needless to say, the COVID-19 quarantine was an opportunity for us to really spend some quality time together, without the hustle and bustle of airports or family gatherings, etc. and this type of quality time was so much more intimate than a "vacation would be. Plus, might i add, that we are both very hard working people! So sometimes, a vacation for us would be just taking a day or two off and staying home to play a new video game for him, and for me to just to take care of things that you need to take care of.
2. An Opportunity to Relax, Rest, Be Lazy AF and to have my PEACE HUNTY!
I'm not exactly the nicest morning person, but I am an early riser, thus, a morning person. On most days, I'm up by 4AM, at the gym by 4:30AM and headed out the door by 6:40AM to take my butt to work. But ya'll... not having anywhere to go, or a damn thing to do, for once in my life, brings a sense of refreshment that no ice cold drink, on a desert summer day, could give you. CHIIIILE... let me tell you about how good I slept in! I don't even really do this on the weekends!! But man quarantine has a way of your body making a schedule for you. I followed my body's schedule for the entire time, and BABAY.. IT FELT GOOD! We're always running and pressed for time, or punching someone else's time clock and the beauty of sleeping until my brain woke me up was glorious!
3. Patience puts $#!t into perspective.
This is so simple... but it stuck with me and helped me see things from a different point of view. I posted about this on my IG and tumblr. (Check me out on social media! =====>) But I'll put it into context.... at one point, EVERYTHING and EVERYONE got on my everlasting nerve... OKAY?! I had to ask myself.. "Is this really annoying me, or am I that irritable?" 9 times out of 10 it was the latter of the two. So these 3 things helped me to calm TF down before I popped off!
Be Patient with Myself.
Be Patient With Others.
Be Patient with Time.
...and this kind of became my daily mantra. It helped open my mind, heart and ears to those around me and myself.
4. Re-Connecting- with old friends, family and making new friends .
I'm a very social person and in recent years, ironically, I've picked up on some introverted tendencies. Nevertheless, this is something that we were all able to do. I saw and spoke to family member and friends, that some of which, I hadn't seen or spoken to in nearly 10 years (Judge Yourself!). I'm kind of embarrassed about it BUT you know... LIFE HAPPENS bruh... You turn around and blink and its been a decade. Next think you know, your friends's kids are getting driver's licenses and tattoos. LIKE WTF?! Either way, I was happy to link back up and talk about some of the fun and stupid things we did, and even making plans to see each other again soon. It was nice to have something to look forward to and something that would add value to those relationships.
5. I was actually productive....
...with the $#!t I wanted to be productive with...Let's get that part straight! I'd always dreamed of a job where I could work from home, with my laptop, and video conference calls and whatnot. And when I got that wish... my productivity SKYROCKETED... for about 2 weeks. (I'd exhausted all of my work by then and was waiting for new things to do.) After the 2 weeks, I started working on home projects that I'd left unfinished or never even started. In the evenings, I would work on my personal projects, which I would never have the energy for after a long day of work.
No, it wasn't a new skill, but I figured out where I wanted to go with everything I was doing. I was able to redevelop, recreate, and repurpose my vision... Thus, "The Bohemian Socialite," Blog . :)
6. Self-Care became a "thing"... for me at least
Now don't get me wrong, I love a trip to the nail or hair salon. I'm a sucker for facials and masssages. BUT.. where was I gona go to do that... if everything in the free first world was closed?!
Oh... but there is a place.... YOUTUBE hunnty! I started watching other people's 67-step morning-care routines. Never in my life would i EVER do a 67 step routine. However, in watching these videos, I realized that my skin and face could use some extra care. And because I'm on this new sustainable beauty journey, I figured, WHY TF NOT?! And I did... And it was good.  I'm sure my body will reward me when I'm older for this.
I applaud everyone who does anything of this nature consistently. Quaratine taught me to incorporate some sort of self care or you will surely lose yourself. Not gona lie, TBH for a few days the struggle was real But i bounced back even better baby. :)
Not only did i revamp y skin care routine, but I also revisited some of my favorite past-times and hobbies, like roller skating, painting, yoga and meditation. It felt good and I needed it. It made me feel beautiful and sexy again, just spending the time to take care of myself internally and externally.
7. Supporting Local Businesses and being an Advocate for other Small Business Owners
I'm not even going to go into extensive detail... but my community needed my support and I was able to do it proudly. Not just local businesses, but my friends' and families' businesses as well. And it was in easy, simple and mostly FREE ways.
8. Regained my appreciation for life, nature, silence, the things I have and creativity.
I needed the hard reset. In fact, I think we all needed a hard reset or re-calibration of our lives. The entire world was literally just grounded by mother nature herself. We were doing too much.. and she said we need to sit TF down and shut TF up. Some people embraced it for what it was. Others, did stupid $#!t. like...protest. <insert BIGGEST eye roll>
Either way, we were reflective of what nature and life was telling us.
The whole Quarantine, Covid-19, Coronavirus debauchery, was what I needed to recenter myself and re-evaluate my goals and plans for the future.
Have you looked into how the pandemic has changed your life?
I want to know if your experience was similar to mine, or if you want to add something, leave me a comment. :)

A place we call home
Free for us to be living
Uniting us all
-Tashiana
Happy Earth Day! 🌎
While our planet is in healing, and we're all currently on #lockdown2020, do your part and incorporate an easy green life adjustment to your home!
Here are 5 Easy Things You Can Do to Help Save Our Planet🌎🌿🌼🌻
1️⃣ Add some greenery to your life! 🎋 Whether it's a tree or a small pot of flowers, Give back to the Earth, for once in your life.
2️⃣ Stop shopping with those plastic bags, and use those cloth/reusable ones! (You know the ones you keep picking up at all this health fairs and corporate conferences.)
3️⃣ Get yo life and RECYCLE RIGHT! ♻️ Like it's so easy to just out your plastic water bottles or aluminum cans in a separate container. Call your local Environmental Services Department to find out how to enroll in a recycling program, if available. If not, they can provide information as to where you can take your recycling items.
4️⃣ Shop wisely y'all! Try to find one thing in your life that you wouldn't mind being the slightest bit of sustainable. Like vegan beauty products, natural home cleaning products, making some of your own stuff, switch to energy saving lightbulbs or thrifting is always a good idea too.
5️⃣ Cut out unnecessary crap! Like 40 minute showers 🚿 (#guiltypleasures), leaving lights or the a/c on when you're not home 💡(Also, #guiltyaf ) and, when outside opens again...maybe carpooling to brunch or using public transportation is the way to go.
Whatever tickles your fancy. 🤗 Be creative. And #dosomethinggood 💯

...and that's exactly where I'm at right now. 🤷🏾‍♀️ noshamehere #judgeyourself
quarantine life😷 has surely put some things into perspective for me.
For once in my life... I've been able to say out loud... "Nope. Not doing it!" And not feel bad about it...and end up doing it anyway. 🤷🏾‍♀️
I'm going to be completely candid right now 🙊and say that living your life aimed to please everyone else before yourself is exhausting.🛌🏾 😴💤 To be able to decide when or if it is even necessary to to do certain things and if whether or not I want to do them is an ironically humbling🤫, yet liberating 🗽 experience for me.
And for that... I'm thankful...in that aspect- for this DISASTROPHE that this bitch 😂 covi̇d19 has thrown our way.
Have you personified the virus yet? 😂👽
Is that terrible of me to do? 🤔🤷🏾‍♀️ 👇🏾leave me a comment! . . . .

If anything... This whole quarantine thing... Has been an experience.
There are so many things that this time away from the rest of the world has reminded me.
I'm revisiting my understanding and my outward manifestations of patience and here's where I am today...
Be patient with myself.
Be patient with others.
Be patient with time.
I'm grateful for these uncomfortable moments even If there's nothing else that I can take away from them.

self harm disguised as productivity is still self harm. the all nighter of studying after a failed exam is self harm. studying through personal care is self harm. punishing yourself for apparent academic failure by irrational actions associated with academic success is self harm. forcing upon yourself the image of a person you have not grown into yet is self harm.
