Not me getting a library card and taking out three books from two different libraries in two days. Being super proud of myself that I was going to be renting books for a bit to save money, then proceeding to walk directly to the thrift store up the road to buy 4 books... def not me🙃

I tried to read this book about a year ago, but it just wasn't the right time for me to dive in. Yesterday was the right time. I finished the book in one sitting. If that doesn't speak to how well this book is written, I don't know what will.
Having started the podcast around 1-2 years ago, I felt like I knew Karen and Georgia pretty well. They were my long commute friends, my workout buddies, my late-night can't sleep buddies, my I'm fighting with my boyfriend and need to hear others talk buddies. These two incredible women are role models for me. Listening and reading their personal stories is and was so inspiring. As a late-twenties female, pretty much everything they spoke to was so relatable and true. This what feels kind of like life advice, kind of like a memoir of experiences, kind of feels like two big sisters telling you to stay out of the forest was exactly what I needed yesterday.
Onto the book. Each chapter has a title that is a memorable quote from the podcast, which is then explained. In each of these chapters, each woman tells her part ( just like on the podcast). The reader doesn't get the story regurgitated from the other, each brings their own unique twist to the chapter. At the end of the chapter, there is a Q&A. Through each chapter, the reader gets to learn more about each woman and how their past has shaped them into the incredible human they are today. There are lists, there are recipes, there are photos, there are how-to guides. This book is seriously the perfect mix of everything.
The book made me cackle at parts, made me question how terrible I was at thirteen, made my heartache for the pain of losing someone close to me. If you are looking for this book to be an episode of the podcast, where you learn about two different murders, its not that. It's so much more. I recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of the podcast. I am not sure how reading this book before listening would go. Anyways, 5 stars from me.

I want to start by saying I LOVED this series as a whole. This is the final installment in the series and it was my least favourite book. *Spoilers in here*
In this book, Dr.Harper, Noah, Zach, and Kierra are on an island that is hosting an influencer festival. We go through different types of social media influencers that Dr. Harper is "treating" as patients on the island. We also witnessed the dates that Noah planned for Dr. Harper. Unlike the other two books, I didn't find these patients to link up the same way patients did in the previous books. However, we did get to see and hear about a lot of the characters from the first and second books.
I found that I had a hard time connecting or caring as much with these patients as I had with the previous books. I believe this was due to there not being enough detail and background about the patients, aside from the first patient. The first patient was a wild ride!
I found that this book did, however, give the reader a better sense of who Dr. Harper really is. Instead of screaming WTF throughout the novel, I found myself understanding more of why he did the things he did. The storyline with Kierra for me was very unexpected and I really thought more could have been done with that.
I am giving this book a 4 star rating because I love the concept, just wish there was more detail. I also want to give this series a 5 star rating, as it was a trilogy that I could barely put down. I again, recommend this series to anyone who is a fan of twisted writing and loves to say WTF the whole time.
** This series does need trigger warnings. There are many things brought up in this series that could trigger people.*

Let's talk about books/series we have bought and never finished. This is a FRACTION of books from that category on my shelves. I am notorious for starting a series then putting it down and never picking it back up, because of this habit, I now own a bunch of full series I have read one or two books from. Recently, I have tried to read through this large pile of books that are in my DNF and "not the right time, will pick this up when I'm in the mood for this genre" piles. I find a lot of the time I put a book down because I just can't fully emerge myself in the genre. I have had such a hard time recently staying focused while reading fantasy, that I have pretty much given up on it for the time being. I am not sure if there was a certian book that did this or its fantasy as a whole recently, but I feel like I am always reading the same story. I have a hard time differentiating current fantasy. I thought posting about this was interesting because I rarely hear about books people put down, only ones they finish.
From this pile I have picked up SSDGM to finish ( I have only read 1 part from it) and Hocus Pocus( which is fantasy, but I categorize this book in a nostalgia Halloween genre) The others might have their time to shine in the future, but for now they sit on my shelves waiting to be finished.
QOTD: What are some of the books you didn't finish and are done with or books you are going to read at a later date?

I am sooo conflicted if I want to give this a quick read or save it. It is one of the choices of books for The Book Community's August Book Club. I was so excited to pick it up at a second hand bookstore for super cheap because I found out recently that it is going to be made into a Netflix show. The premise seems so flippin cool. Like most, I love reading books before they become movies or tv shows so I can be a critical asshole when I watch lol. I made a poll about this book last night to see how many people have read it and I was SHOCKED that almost no one had. Anyways, if you want to take part in the August Book Club search "The Book Community" on Facebook.
