Exactly! With Snow he allows himself to be goofy and not a perfect being/model as expecting from a prince :)
I rewatch Red shoes and noticed more things:
Since the magical apple tree was first a woman who ate magical apple, could the first one be Snow white’s mother?
King Snow made his daughter escaped by the secret door in the well where he brought Merlin later in the film.
Arthur might have left Merlin behind because he thought he cheated because of the love spell (he didn’t use actually hopefully). But his behaviour could also be because of jealousy and seeing Merlin as a threat to his plan to kiss Red Shoes because of this unfair disadvantage.
After seeing Snow white’s true appearance, Merlin didn’t leave her, he was just looking for more wood to revive the fire. When he talks to himself, he seems more lost and confused about accepting his feelings than Snow White’s appearance. But he did say he prefer Red shoes and his conscious called him an idiot xD
Merlin had more problem with his own appearance than Snow white’s. And he’s the one with insecurities, not Snow. He sees himself as weaker because of his shortness and his spells were weaker too, just like Snow White isn’t as strong anymore. But what was a selfish wish at the beginning blossoms in true love on his side.
But being a green dwarf/troll made him take himself less seriously as he acts more goofy in this appareance. I think falling in love with Snow White made Merlin loves himself and less arrogant. So he was right in a way when he said falling in love with Snow White will make him a better man worthy of her :)
Snow and Merlin are truly equals and save each other. Snow defends the guys from the insults of the guards and then Merlin helps her from them. They both fight against Prince Average and his soldiers. Merlin saves Snow from the wooden monsters and Snow saves him from drowning. They both sacrifice themselves to save each other. Snow breaks his curse and saves him. There are parallels each time!
I also has Beauty and the beast vibes with the princess falling in love for a prince who was turned into a monster to make him grow. You also have a reverse BatB with Arthur and Red Hood.
I just love this film ok! ><

Avatar Name Meanings!
Just for fun! Let’s take a look at the most cited meanings for ATLA names.
Tumblr media
Aang - When his name is shown in written form, it is composed of the Chinese characters 安 (ān) meaning "peace, quiet" and 昂 (áng)meaning "raise, lift". A fitting name for an airbender who will save the world!
Tumblr media
Katara - Taken from the Arabic word قطرة (qatra) meaning "raindrop, droplet". A gentle and poetic name for waterbender who is starting out.
Tumblr media
Sokka - Derived from the Japanese phrase “sou ka”, meaning "I understand" or "Is that so?". A reference to both his skeptical and analytical nature, as well as his comic relief.
Tumblr media
Toph - Toph was written as 北方拓芙, giving her name the meaning "expanding lotus". The name itself is not a genuine Chinese name, and may have been intended as a pun on the English word "tough". When combined with her last name Beifong, you get “lotus flower expanding northward”, a reference to Toph opening up and making friends, but also because she is from the Southern city of Gaoling and literally travels north with the Gaang.
Tumblr media
Zuko - Fictional name written with different meanings in the show. His wanted poster uses  (zǔ) from Chinese meaning "ancestor, forefather" combined with 寇 (kòu) meaning "bandit, robber". Likely meant to portray Zuko as a traitor to his family and people. However, it’s also written as 蘇 (sū) meaning "to regain consciousness" combined with 科 (kē) meaning "sort, class", which is probably the true meaning to his name referring to how Zuko will redeem the Fire Nation and royal family by redeeming himself.
Tumblr media
Azula - Fictional name derived from Portuguese, Galician, and Spanish azul meaning "blue" (of Persian origin). A reference to her blue flames.
Want me to cover other ATLA names? Just ask!
(Psst want more ATLA? Check this out!)

One of the best pieces of advice I gathered from a recent writing conference came from M.T. Anderson. Someone asked him how he writes socially- or politically-minded fiction without coming off as "preachy"; how he could write these things while staying genuine. His answer was to make sure you see yourself in every character you write, regardless of where they stand on a given issue.
Fiction is first and foremost an act of empathy, not an instructional device. If you think you know the answer to a topic, write an essay, not a novel. Characters serve to imbue your story with your own lived experiences and your own complicated emotional history about these experiences. Reading these characters is an act of empathy! You aren't finding an answer to a question but feeling what someone else has felt and asking yourself how you've felt like that too. It's up to the reader, then, to draw conclusions from a piece of fiction--the author can and should only provide the empathetic grist.
And if you want to provide the strongest empathetic grist possible, you need to inhabit all of your characters. This isn't to say you need to "take the side" of any particular issue--if you're writing a drama about abortion, you don't need to play both sides--because again, the fiction writer shouldn't be concerned with this as much as they should be about emotional histories. In the above example, you may not be pro-life, but have you also been blind to how your worldview hurts people? Have you ever developed stubborn, reactionary tendencies? Etc. etc. etc. For a hypothetical pro-choice character, have you ever been so firm in your belief that you see the other side as lesser-than-thou?
See your emotional self in your characters. If you're writing socially- or politically-charged fiction, you should at the very least pity your characters. Feel for them, and the audience will too.

We can also quote science fiction and space fantasy like Avatar where natives also need a white men to fight back colonialism. Plus the ableism of the protagonist being magically cured at the end...
While Avatar: the last airbender is (to me) good representation and avoid the white men savior trope by not having white characters.
It frightens and discourages me how pervasive "tribal" stereotypes and imagery are in the fantasy and adventure genres.
It's all over the place in classic literature. Crack open a Jules Verne novel and you're likely to find caricatures of brown people and cultures, even when the characters are sympathetic to the plight of the colonized peoples - incidentally, this is the biggest reason I can't recommend 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea to everyone, despite Captain Nemo being one of my favorite fictional characters of all time.
You can't escape it in modern cinema, either. You'll see white heroes venturing bravely into jungles and tombs to steal from natives who don't know how to use their resources "properly." You'll see them strung up in traps, riddled with sleeping darts, forced to flee and fight their way out. Hell, Pirates of the Caribbean, a remarkably inclusive franchise in many other ways, had an extended sequence of the white heroes escaping from a cannibal civilization in the second film.
And when fantasy RPGs want a humanoid enemy, the "bloodthirsty natives" are the first stock trope they jump to. World of Warcraft is one of the most egregious examples, with the trolls - blatant racist caricatures with faux-voodoo beliefs, cannibalistic diets, Jamaican accents, and a history of being killed in droves by (white) elves and humans - being raided and slaughtered in nearly every expansion.
It doesn't matter how vibrant and distinctive the real-world indigenous, Polynesian, Caribbean, and African cultures are. It doesn't matter how much potential these real civilizations offer for complex and sympathetic characterization. Anything that doesn't make sense to the white western mind is shoved under the same "savage" umbrella. They're different. They're strange. They're scary. They have to be escaped, subjugated, eliminated, ogled at from the safety of a museum.
Modern writers, directors, and developers don't even seem to realize how horrifying it is to present the indigenous inhabitants of a place as "obstacles" for non-native protagonists to overcome. "It's not racist," they say, "because these people aren't really people, you see." And if you dare to point out anything that hurts or offends you as a descendant of the bastardized culture, you're accused of being the real racist: "These aren't humans! They're monsters! Are you saying that these real societies are just like those disgusting monsters?"
No, they're not monsters. But you chose to design them as monsters, just as invaders have done for hundreds of years. Why would you do that? Why can you recognize any other caricature as evil and cruel, but not this?
This is how deep colonialism runs.

I know it's a running gag that Anya is kind of a dumbass because she's literally 4 years old and while it is true that she views certain things with a naivety that only a child can have and that she's not very academically smart compared to her classmates, it's totally overlooked how intelligent she actually is.
At this age she's not only able to read and write, she's trying to keep up with children who are two years older and basically have been trained to go to an elite school since birth.
Anya is very clever when it comes to hiding her psychic abilities, she knows exactly what will draw suspicion upon herself and avoids saying it, especially in front of adults. An example for this is how she acts in order to save the kid that's drowning in the hospital pool, she know she can't just tell her dad that someone is drowning so she just runs away with an excuse that seems logical enough for a first grader and it works! Mr chronic anxiety and paranoia himself didn't suspect her. Damian only suspects her being able to read minds because she's less carful around her peers. All of this is clearly a trauma response because she is afraid of rejection and of abuse, both things that caused lots of suffering in her past.
But those aren't the only instances when she shows her intelligence: she escaped a probalbly heavily guarded research facility on her own, when the terrorists plan to explode the building her dad is about to enter she comes up with a plan to stop the bomb from going off, she keeps track of everything that's going on during the missions (like the cruise ship), she covers for her mum and dad and she distracts adults in order to be able to do the stuff she needs to do.
She manipulates people based on the information she's gathered from mind reading. She's a bit clumsy at hiding this because what she's saying is always seems out of nowhere but he being a first grader covers that up. Examples: she uses Loid's thoughts to fill out the crossword puzzle in order to get adopted, she tells her mum how much she loves her and never wants to be apart from her in front of Fiona, she tells Yuri she wants to get better at school for her mum's sake, she provokes Damian into meeting his dad when he has doubts, the list goes on.
Tldr: Anya is actually really smart for a four year old.

Let's Talk About: Writing Babies & Toddlers
Adding children into the equation when it comes to writing can be difficult for those of us who are not currently a parent or have experience with children.
“I want to have this one year old character… wait, how do one year olds even act? How do three year olds act? What the heck can babies do? CAN THEY EVEN VOCABULARY? I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT CHILDREN!”
Well, lets see if we can find out.
Birth - 3 Months Old [x]
Physical Skills - Raises head & chest when on stomach. Stretches & kicks on back. Opens and shuts hands. Brings hand to mouth. Grasps and shakes toys.
Social Skills - Begins to develop social smile. Enjoys playing with people. More communicative. More expressive with face and body. Imitates some movements and expressions.
Sensory Milestones - Follows moving objects. Recognizes familiar objects and people at a distance. Starts using hands and eyes in coordination. Prefers sweet smells. Prefers soft to coarse sensations.

When a Child Bites (Audio)
Toilet Training In order for a toddler to be successfully potty trained, she needs to be able to sense the urge to go, be able to understand what the feeling means, and then be able to verbalize that she needs your help to make it to the toilet and actually go. Waiting until your child is truly ready will make the experience much faster and more pleasant for everyone involved.
In short:
Infancy
–What to expect: Babies cry. –Needs: Basic love and care –Parents’ Need: Time off and sleep. –Special Problems: Fussy baby
Six Months
–What to expect: Child is always moving. Favorite game is dropping/throwing toys. Child puts everything into their mouth. –Needs: Same as infancy. Protection. [Never leave child unattended. Babies roll off beds, changing tables. Unless baby is on the floor, keep a hand on the baby or use a restraint system. Keep small things off the floor and out of reach.]
Nine Months
–What to expect: Baby is crawling, pulling up. Child has no concept of property. Everything is a toy. Still puts everything in mouth. –Needs: Child-proof environment. Close supervision. –Special Problems: Separation fears. [Baby is afraid to be left; wakes up during the night.]
One Year
–What to expect: Child needs to explore and is into everything. [Likes to dump things out. Child must touch everything that is new. Likes to tear paper apart and pull plants over to see what will happen. Enjoys throwing food on the floor to see what will happen. Wants to eat what others are eating.] –Needs: Lots of things. Safe environment. Firm limits. Plenty of sleep. Nutritious food.
Two and a Half
–What to expect: This is THE Age of Conflict. Child is never sure whether the child wants to be independent and separate (“Me do it”, “myself,”“no,no, no”) or dependent and treated like a baby (“Hold me”, “carry me”, “help me”). Parents never know what to expect. Temper tantrums increase and are used for attention and control. Child wants the same foods all the time, refuses any change, says “no” even when the child means “yes”. Starts to stutter or stammer. Masturbates frequently. Wants to be treated like a baby when the child gets tired. The child is just starting to learn the rules and tells himself “no, no” while breaking them. –Needed: Patient, kind, firm parents. –Parents’ Motto: This too shall pass.
Three
–What to expect: Likes to do things by himself. Can unbutton and unzip the child’s own clothes. Does not know the front from the back or which shoe fits which foot and the child doesn’t care. Favorite expression is “All by myself” but cries easily when the child can’t do it. He wants to help parents do things. Refuses to hold parent’s hand even though the child must. Wants to walk in stores instead of riding in stroller. Develops sudden fears and phobias. Resists taking naps but needs one. Can control bladder and bowel functions, but still has accidents. By 3 and ½, child whines all the time. May stammer and stutter when upset or excited. Nose picking, fingernail biting, and tumbsucking reach a peak. Child also learns to spit. Favorite lines are “Don’t look,” “Don’t laugh”, “Don’t talk” which the child uses on parents. Prime time for imaginary friends. –Needs: Patience. Time to grow. Remember, a 3 year old is a baby that looks like a child. Don’t force threes to be bigger than they can be at the moment. An enabling environment.
Happy writing!

Why at the end where everyone is alive we dont see Akkun and the others at Takemichi's wedding why? By becoming Mikey's childhood friend, Takemichi didn't meet them? :(
I wanted to know what they become in the future except for Akkun to be a hairdresser.
Édit: someone told me they were present and I finally find them. But now what did they become ? :o

Even as old writer we still do this mistake...
Dear young writers,
SAVE 👏 YOUR 👏 WRITING!!!
I don't care if its cringe, if its old, if its a fanfic of two old British men falling in love while trying to save the world from Satan. SAVE IT!!!
One of the large mistakes I've made as a writer so far, especially when in college, was not saving enough of my writing. My old stories, my scripts, my best essays, all nonexistent because I deleted them after completing each class like a fool.
And guess what? I have barely anything for a portfolio, other than a few essays, a pair of old short stories, and a fake formal letter, so I have to start from scratch! And it is not as easy as you'd think.
Like for artists, designers, musicians, or anyone else who also works in a creative field, portfolios are imperative to have, as they represent your skills, your voice, and what type of content you create best.
Showing all sorts of examples of writing as a young writer will allow you to have better opportunities in the working world, especially if you want to be an editor or publish a book! You can't get jobs like that without some experience after all.
Plus, if you have a work you don't like, you can always create a newer and more improved version that you can be proud of, that reflects your current style, tone, and voice!
The best place to represent it would be a website too or even Tumblr itself, so be prepared to design it to reflect what you enjoy, but also what you best create (i.e. stories, professional letters, essays, articles, etc.)
So remember guys:
SAVE 👏 YOUR 👏 WRITING!!!

Let's talk about worldbuilding.
Worldbuilding is a crucial aspect of writing fiction, particularly in genres like fantasy and science fiction.
Remember that worldbuilding is a dynamic process that evolves as you write. Don't be afraid to experiment and make changes to your world as needed to serve the story.
Here are some tips to help you build a rich and immersive world:
Start with a Core Concept: Every world begins with an idea. Whether it's a magic system, a futuristic society, or an alternate history, have a clear concept that serves as the foundation for your world.
Define the Rules: Establish the rules that govern your world, including its physical laws, magic systems, societal norms, and cultural practices. Consistency is key to creating a believable world.
Create a Detailed Map: Optional, but helpful. Develop a map of your world to visualise its geography, including continents, countries, cities, and landmarks. Consider factors like climate, terrain, and natural resources to make your world feel authentic.
Build a History: Develop a rich history for your world, including key events, conflicts, and historical figures. Consider how past events have shaped the present and influenced the cultures and societies within your world.
Develop Cultures and Societies: Create diverse cultures and societies within your world, each with its own beliefs, traditions, languages, and social structures. Explore how different cultures interact and conflict with one another.
Flesh Out Characters: Populate your world with memorable characters who reflect its diversity and complexity. Consider how their backgrounds, motivations, and personalities are shaped by the world around them. (See my post on character development for more!)
Consider Technology and Magic: Determine the level of technology and the presence of magic in your world, and how they impact daily life, society, and the overall narrative.
Think about Economics and Politics: Consider the economic systems, political structures, and power dynamics within your world. Explore issues like inequality, governance, and social justice to add depth to your worldbuilding.
Show, Don't Tell: Instead of dumping information on readers, reveal details about your world gradually through storytelling. Show how characters interact with their environment and incorporate worldbuilding seamlessly into the narrative.
Stay Consistent: Maintain consistency in your worldbuilding to ensure coherence and believability. Keep track of details like character names, historical events, and geographic locations to avoid contradictions.
Leave Room for Exploration: While it's essential to have a solid foundation for your world, leave room for discovery and exploration as you write. Allow your world to evolve organically and be open to new ideas and possibilities.
Revise and Edit: Carefully review your worldbuilding to identify any inconsistencies, plot holes, or contradictory elements. Pay attention to details such as character backgrounds, historical events, and the rules of your world's magic or technology. Make necessary revisions to resolve any issues and maintain the integrity of your worldbuilding.
Happy writing!

intense writing things (exposing things that writers do)
discovering a major plot point of their WIP halfway through and just adding it in with any other changes, telling themselves they'll "go back and revise it later"
lots of staring at a blinking cursor hoping it'll magically write
abandoning their main WIP at a crucial part to write the mini WIP that floated into their thoughts
thinking more about what they're going to write than actually writing
complaining about their favourite character dying off in a novel while simultaneously creating a character whose death will be painful for the reader in their WIP
— (iykyk)
can only write during a certain (extremely inconvenient) time of day
"look I wrote another 10 words" to anyone who will listen
knowing the entirety of the plot but nothing at all when you open a new paper
knowing the exact definitions of the most obscure words but forgetting the simplest things
writing a sentence, being proud of it, finding it again while editing, being really proud, sending it to your friend, realizing it's from Percy Jackson or some other popular equivalent.
smiling in pain when your friend asks you about the wip you abandoned months ago ("I know I will finish it this time")
edit: wishing you could type / write as fast as your brain can think it (from @lillinari27)
